24x40 Pole Barn Garage Build - 3 Days Start to Finish!
I needed some additional storage for project vehicles and toys. After researching how to build a pole barn and learning all the ways I could mess up getting everything level and square, I opted to hire professionals to do the job. It only took them 3 days, where as it would have taken me 3+ months.
Here's the entire build condensed into 7 minutes. Let me know if you have any questions and enjoy the video!
A few people have asked the price... $26,600 total after tax. $3,900 of the total was for excavation, stone fill & leveling. If I did not have the concrete floor poured, it would have been $5500 less.

I found the chapters in kzhead.infoUgkxYGamVaHfdHiPlAQaLa7zkwR02OKpGYDU to be very relevant to my project as I embarked on building my first ever structure from the ground up. I especially found this Ryan’s Shed Plans to be of great use when it came to building the roof. I was able to do all the cuts and installation by myself, with a little reference to this Ryan’s Shed Plans.
I'm tired after working as a carpenter for 35 yrs. Videos like this remind me why.
Holy crap! Serious Garage Envy going on here! That thing is awesome! Just the first garage looks awesome! Good for you man!
Looks great, exactly what I’m looking to build.
They make it look so easy! What a great job!!!
Great shop! I would love to build one this year with an efficient team like that!
Awesome! Exactly what I need. Thanks for the vid. (and thanks for not making it a long video!)
Congratulations Ryan! That two tone siding is awesome. Don't put the electric off too long! Good decision on hiring it.
Nice build, thanks for sharing. I see one of those in my future. Perfect size.
They say go 8 feet deeper than you think you'll need... but this is the most I could fit on the left side of the house.
@@6thGearGarage My wife says no matter how big I went I'd have it packed full in a few years. She's right😄😄. The only thing I'd probably do different is to go with a 12ft ceiling height rather than 10ft so that I could install a car lift.
My brother in law put in a large concrete floor in his new horse barn and it's a work of art!
Wow that is one good looking building!!!👍
I must be on the right track. I am looking to build a shop for my 4 toyotas! You have good taste!
Toyota's and jet skis me to...
Wow thats going to be nice. Hope to get a place to work on stuff one day. Super jealous.
I’ve just ignited my enlightenment fuse into the erecting process of pole barns. Your video was quite illuminating. Mine will have a footprint of 40’ X 80’. I would have benefited financially of course, had I engaged the process into construction prior to the escalation of forest products,
Looks great. Really like what you accomplished.
That’s an awesome looking building you have there, you are going to enjoy it for many years. And that JD 318 is a gem, don’t ever sell it.
Thanks, That is the plan, she's a keeper!
@@6thGearGarage where r u from?
This video was suggested to me, and I'm glad it was. Super awesome pole barn brother, congrats. That concrete, holy cow! The Amish know whats up.
I think he said the concrete guys do a better job than Amish do at concrete work lol.
Straw hats are dumb asses
@Jesus is coming. Read the Gospel. thanks for sharing this 🙂
Good Video, and commentary.. Very nice building !!
Looks like a great job - and it was up in a hurry.
Kentucky have it going on first date you video
.
Got some nice Toyota's going to be gold in years to come if not already nice job on the pole barn as well.
Man..... U have every car guyz dream garage... Awesome build and keep on keepin on. 💯
Wow! That looks great!
Nice Garage and great job with narration. Made it enjoyable to watch!
Thanks! 👍
Very nice, love the 318 too. Great garden tractor
Thanks! It has over 1800 hrs on it now.
Wow 🤩! Very nice! You know nature abhors a vacuum? Your new XXL man-cave will fill up fast! 😆
It’s already happening 😂
Years ago my husband and his brother and a couple others, built a pole barn 30 by 40 with 14 ft walls in 19 hours. Fully insulated and concrete floor.
wow thats fast
Awesome, can't wait to see more projects. Im in Ohio as well, hoping to upgrade to a bigger house soon. Obviously a bigger garage too.
This is very informative. I need almost the exact same thing, but in Michigan.
Same here..plans are going forward..Branch Mi..with mine 😊
You’re my hero man! you I love old Toyotas and beautiful shop !!!
Tacoma FAN Thanks, I’m kind of obsessed with these 80s and 90s Toyotas
My 16'x24' pole style garage will be finished next week. When I designed it, I added a loft, 9/12 pitch with 8' of headroom. Got about 9'6" of headroom in the lower part.
That loft is gonna be nice 👍
Very nice!! I like the old-skool JD 318!
Thanks! It has been a great tractor!
won't complete without a car lift. Great job!
Very nice. You can never have enough shop space. Looks great. JC.
Thanks, I've managed to fit 6 vehicles, tractor and a 4 wheeler in it at one time.
That came out really nice. Love the mirror finish floor
Me too, unfortunately the floor has dulled down after a year of use.
@@6thGearGarage Yeah, but its still smooth. Did they trowel all that by hand or use a power float to get the mirror finish?
@@maddierosemusic They did use a power float.
My wife wants one shaped like a barn. I prefer what you built.
Came out really good, congrats!
Thank you!
Dude great job on the editing 👏 👌
Thanks!
Great job guys!I am jealous We just waiting our garage permit more than 3 months. (Phoenix AZ)
I got lucky, no permits needed here - really speeds up the process!
Man that’s a badass shop!
Thanks!
Very nice. I want one just like it. Thanks for posting.
It’s a good size and can fit 6 vehicles if you pack them in tight.
I dream of something like this! Soon and very soon!!!
Wow Beautiful!
Nice video and good looking trucks
Love the older model Toyota trucks!!
I didn't sub out my concrete and I got what I paid for...lol....pretty rough, but it's a garage and I'm okay with it. Your garage turned out very nice!
What’s your pay is what you get ha ha!!! Mine is the same way I only paid $100 for labor but it’s very rough too !!!
Awesome , good for you!
Beautiful!!
awesome shop, congrats 🍻
Ben Speakman thanks!
Nice garage huge space!
Awesome content Nice design choices for your home
Thank you!
Great Work !
great looking building.
my friend you’ve just opened the door to my imagination! i have a 24X48 foot deck that i want to enclose with concrete underneath...one half would be an auto shop and the other half will be my wood shop...thanks!!
Pharaoh Acura I really want to see this happen. Please document if you go through with this idea!
@@6thGearGarage will do my friend! i’m really excited about it...just waiting for my tree guy to remove all the trees so i can start on the deck
very impressive ideas
Beautiful garage
beautiful building sir
That concrete crew was really professional imo. Most would never take the time to cover up the walls.
100% In the past I've had concrete splatted on siding, doors... These guys were great.
No vapor barrier and no dust vac to do saw cuts. And cure & seal sucks, looks good for 6months then looks horrible. But agree did nice job on finish and wall protection
Isn't t the concrete supposed to cure for some time before it gets sealed?
@@dennydeckerful yes,but that Cure&Seal...it can go down right away and it looks good for the concrete guy,but usually scratch so bad looks like crap in 6months to a year.
@@pl833 yeah it does scratch easily. If I had the $ I would have them leave it unsealed and do epoxy.
Love this!!!
Awesome looking garage
Thanks 👍
Nice collection of Toyota's!
The Toyota’s man. That’s awesome.
Yep! They gave me a Back to the Future vide.
thats really nice well done
Im still trying to figure out how to afford one lol. Yours is 👍 👌
Haha no shit! It’s a nice set up tho I wish I had one for my home😔
Thanks for sharing!
Dude nice! I need that kind of shelter in my life.. Haha, it would not fit in my back yard.
Ooo
Sweet man cave!!!!!!!
Awesome building love it great video to
That was fast. looks good.
Nice I wish I can do the same, god bless you buddy
Wow! Amazing!
NIce. I was thinking Amish the whole time and sure enough haha. Congrats.
Nice addition!!!
Thanks!
Sweet garage! I want to build one a bit larger and make it half-garage/half-home.
I'm actually designing one of those right now! I think I'll share the plans in a future video this winter.
Nice .....I need one of those maybe a 20x30
What a great video
The should have put post anchors in the concrete and set the post on top. Setting the posts in concrete will cause degradation from the bottom, where the post is it contact with the ground.
Unless if you Tar the bottom 3 feet of the post set on pea stone..👍
I had a 26x30 build a couple years ago. Took them 5 months with a lot of mistakes. Never been so angry in my life.
YOU SHOULD HAVE FIRED THEM AFTER 3 WEEKS. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR
@Keith Clark 🤣
Good video I like the garage
Thanks!
That's awesome
Looks nice I had the same building put up minus the back porch by the same company and crew same color scheme too. Been real happy with the quality. They would have had mine done in 1 day if it hadn’t stormed in the afternoon.
I was amazed how quickly they put the building up. No complaints here either.
In what location or State..?? These guys really looked like great workers
@@scotthackett4500 The builder I had was Nielco builders out of Ashland Ohio.
I just hired the same company to build my building,I also live in Ashland county. Your video sold me on them, and Dave is a great guy to deal with. 32x48x12 with 10ft porch down the side. Love your building, enjoy! Butch Ashland Ohio
Decided to look into addin onto my garage for a 3rd stall n found this. I'm in ohio too n will probly start mine next spring.
Give them a call, they do great work! Info is in the description.
This is very interesting. I'm not sure I've ever seen a garage built where they put up the garage first and then the concrete floor
It's pretty common around here because it's faster and cheaper than a traditional building.
It's a pole building... they are all like that, and some they just leave without any floor at all.
Damn this makes me want to do this exact build. I just need a 20x30 for painting cars.
Have you seen the inflatable painting booths? Not a permanent structure, but a much cheaper alternative. I'm considering picking one up before my next paint job.
Very nice.
Concrete work is backing breaking work!
I'm not a fan of putting your posts in the concrete like they did. Eventually that wood will rot and need to be replaced. The price is pretty good. For the same money, you could have done a steel building. Steel beams and girders are much better than a pole barn system I built a 40x60 steel workshop in 12 days with one helper. No termites, no wood rot, no fire hazard. Another advantage of the steel system is you get 8" deep walls for better insulation and there are no trusses so you have more vertical room as well.
I don’t think they put the posts in the cement, but rather sat them atop of the solid cured concrete. Most Amish/Mennonites either go directly into the ground on dirt below the frost line, or pour the cement post and rest the 6x6 post atop that way there’s no worry for rot and you have a solid foundation.
@@DimagoDiesel Yep, I have never liked setting wood posts in dirt, whether treated or not. Dig the holes, pour concrete footers to or above grade and set posts on top. Wood and dirt, over time, don't mix.
Agreed. This building has lots of wood in, or next to the ground. In 10 years it will have big issues.
Nice Job. . .
And with what the price of lumber is right now, the entire project will only cost "ONE MILLION DOLLARS!"(with pinky)😀
@Jesus is coming. Read the Gospel. I love the Lord too but this isn't the venue for that thanks
Well dont build it keep watching videos
@@riskysauce1134 I didn't and I do!
Where's you're number 2 man, number 2? ... Doctor Evil
How much did that cost without the cement floor?
If there were ventilation gaps on top of the walls, the structure would not be stressed by the wind as much. Just a thought, don't know if wind is a problem at the site.
I know this is a year old comment but can you elaborate on ventilation gaps. I live in the south east and we have some bad hurricane seasons . This is our solution to protections of our cars
I’ll be contacting them as well. Just relocated to Medina 👍🏽
Nice! I used to live in that area. It's changed a lot over the last 20 years.
so sweet!
Cool Landcruiser 😎
Thanks, I love to drive it. It's the most solid built vehicle I've ever owned.
Man that 85 is beautiful and I see it’s in Ohio hope to see it one day. #OhioGang 🤘🏽
It's tucked away for winter but I'll put some miles on it this summer. Where are you located?
I want barn like this.
that toyota is amazing
Thanks, I'm obsessed with old Toyotas
Great vid. Sure looks like 22' x 40' though.
I wish I had your patience people can be so irritating at times. How much did this cost why did you pour floor after the posts will rot. Geez people leave this guy alone read before asking the same stupid questions. Why does he have to answer the same questions over and over. Like the old saying goes can't fix stupid.💯 Nice video thanks for sharing it Ryan 👍
Nice video
Thanks!
So baddass. My dream garage
Relief cuts should be made within 12 hrs of the pour, never the next day. The crack are already formed by the next day, you just cannot see them because the concrete has not begun to shrink.
I never knew that, thanks 👍
