DIY Tutorial for My Favorite Traveler's Notebook 2-Pocket Folder

2015 ж. 2 Қаз.
157 687 Рет қаралды

Full instructions for the regular size Traveler's Notebook folder, plus you won't want to miss the formula & dimensions for any and all of the other sizes. I have found that I realistically don't use more than 2 pockets functionally at a time, so this one is perfect!
*I forgot to mention the option to slit the top of the pocket sides if you'd like. Also, the paper dimensions for the wide TN are 11"W x 12"H.

  • so nice to see someone NOT using all sorts of fancy machines and devices. Your way of explaining the size and form was very easy understandable...Now I feel like I can make a pocket folder :)

  • Thank you so much for a post that didn't ramble about your personal life before you started in on the folder. Also, thank you for being concise and to the point during the video. It's so hard to find on YT. This was extremely helpful and now I'm off to make some folders. Also, your speaking voice volume was perfect - you weren't loud or too soft. You also didn't have that horrible buzzing of background noise I sometimes hear, too. It was honestly a pleasure to watch your tutorial.

  • Going by your formula the pocket size becomes a little screwy. At the end you mentioned for pocket it should be 8.5in for height and 7.5 for width. The inserts for a pocket are usually 3.5 x 5.5. So from the sides if we are folding in .5in from each side then that would leave the final width at 6.5 which would make the folder a width of 3.25 when closed; slightly smaller than normal inserts. Also, for the height, if you want it 5.5in tall, matching the other inserts, then just add 3in to that in length and that 3in is what you will fold up to make your pockets. In the middle it was mentioned that for the pockets we would fold have the length of the given measurements at the end but half of 8.5 is 4.25 giving a really large pocket and also the folder becomes much smaller than the 5.5in for FN insert, so it would actually be a 3in fold instead of exactly half like the regular size. Completed it will give you the 3.5x5.5 insert needed for pocket size. 😃 I guess the regular size all the numbers just work out easier. Anyway, your videos are great bc I love the detail.... this comment is for those who try making the pocket size folder.

  • Thank you - this is a fantastic tutorial - I wanted one folder and ended up making 14!!! You've made it so easy to follow. I did make a slight adjustment - instead of cutting the lower fold off, I left it and glued the folded part to the other folded part on the side so the whole pocket was open all the way to the edge. Not sure how they'll wear, but I'm thrilled with them and have enough to change them out whenever I want.....and I want to make more!

What do you think would be the best size? Thanks again!

    @marlam8325@marlam83258 жыл бұрын
    • +Marla M It's probably easier to check measurements as the same size notebook can be labeled differently. May books/A5 notebooks are 5"W x 8"H, so your Traveler's Notebook will need to be 8-1/2"H x 11"W, or 8-1/2"H x 5-1/2" when folded. Hope that helps and makes sense! It's easy to make your own, if you're interested; here is my tutorial on that: kzhead.info/sun/m5yzg8aGhahol4k/bejne.html
