I came to say the same. I saw another video where someone suggested that this would lessen the pressure on the cork, which is obviously nonsense.

In my findings, holding a bottle at 45 degrees after first opening it minimizes the rush of co2 and liquids to the top

Also, you can put a clean washcloth or dish towel over the cork, that way the towel will stop the cork from flying away and will stop it from hitting you in the face. Solutions, man.
