After 8 years this trailer is still the best way to describe Majora's Mask. It's crazy how well achieves to capture the game's mood.

Watching this trailer again, I really love how they perfectly captured and rendered the weird, dark and disturbing atmosphere of the game in a 2min video. This is a pretty unusual way to make a trailer, but we're talking about such an unusual, mysterious yet awesome Zelda game and this trailer completely does justice to it.

I'm mad because I wanted to play zelda games so I purchased a Wii U for skyward and TP. I'm also mad because if they can remake it for 3ds why not the Wii U?. I don't like having two separated consoles to play Zelda games. It's like making Nhl for one different console every year. nobody likes that
People, stop complaining that you want it on the Wii U, it was OBVIOUS it was going to be for the 3DS, and that's what everyone's been begging for. You got what you wanted, and continue complaining. It is apparently LITERALLY impossible to satisfy everyone.

Majora's Mask is one of the strangest and most bizarre games I have ever played. Definitely a stand out in the Zelda franchise. The music is excellent. It sets the eccentric, mysterious and Twilight Zone-ish atmosphere of the game.
This trailer was my introduction into the legend of zelda series, and will always hold a special place in my heart

Stop bitching about how it's not on Wii U. 3DS is the best possible choice Nintendo could have made because the portable aspect draws in a lot of people, including me. And to the people assaulting Nintendo for just selling out their old games- some people (such as myself) never had a Nintendo 64 and was extremely happy about this remake and Ocarina of Time.

In all honesty i don't understand why are idiots complaing about this, this game is awesome. god damn hipsters telling nintendo that they sold off, nintendo is doing the right thing. their just trying to please the mayority of their costumers. and a game with this graffics shouldn't be on the wii u, nintendo need to make a remake for the Wii U with better graffics. classic games should always get a remake but for the actual better instead than for the worst. so yeah in some ways i agree with you.

First we get Hoenn remakes and now a MM remake. Seems like Nintendo really does listen to their fans from time to time. Although there will still be complainers of those who wished for a Wii U remake. What they don't know is that the 3DS didn't get many games this year due to how many Wii U games we're getting we around this year's E3. I mean, the 3DS needs some love too.

The 3DS has been getting constant love since the day of it's release. What exactly are you talking about?
A WiiU remake didn't make sense for a few reasons. One due to MM being a direct sequel to Oot. Two being the whole fact that a ton of the assets in Oot were used for MM three being that they remade Oot3D with a new engine which made the whole development process faster and more efficient so it would be silly to make MM on anything but the 3DS
This trailer is very surreal. A bunch of out of context images played alongside the odd music, and all of those foreboding shots of the Moon. (It's also coincidence that I started looking back on NintendoCaprisun's LP of this game a few days before.)
I've been listening to his MM LP at work for the last week or so, and just bought a boxed copy off ebay a couple days ago. I only just checked out the 2012 fan made trailer last night as well... pretty spooky

+Devinthedude I can't speak from experience, but it was in the original N64 game, so it should also be in the remake. It's closer to a remaster, honestly, than a remake, though. Some things have been changed, but mostly it's the same game from the people I've spoken to.

Playing this as a child, on my Grandmother's N64.... A few years back, my little sister got a 3DS. I'm disappointed to say, she didn't want this great game.

Yeah, sure, it could have been in HD, but having it on 3DS makes it more affordable, portable, and more people would buy it because WiiUs are kind of expensive. Releasing Ocarina of Time 3D was a dead giveaway that a Majora's Mask remake was happening eventually, and it would be on the 3DS. It is a sequel, after all.

I'm beginning to be ashamed that I am a fan of Nintendo after reading criticizing comments on the games of recent popular titles these fans have been BEGGING Nintendo to make for years; and Nintendo took the time and resources to make these games just to hear us whine.: Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire: "WTF? Why can't they patch the new mega evolutions in Pokemon X & Y? Nintendo is just forcing us to buy their new games!" Super Smash Brothers Wii U: "The opening title sequence is just gameplay and their trailers. Nintendo sure half-assed it." Majora's Mask 3D: Why is it on 3DS?! I want it on Wii U!"

Nintendo re-used the game engine from Ocarina of Time to make Majora's Mask back in the N64 days so it only makes sense for Nintendo to release Majora's Mask to the 3DS/2DS since Ocarina of Time is also on the 3DS (assuming the same technique was used on these remakes).

This is one of the better Nintendo trailers I've seen and this alone actually made me buy the game. I don't regret doing so at all and this has since become my favorite Zelda game just because of how unique and weird it is.

1:17 - 1:26 Favorite part. All the randomness in this trailer shows how crazy this game truly is. Postman fallen into despair, A crazy salesman shaking the crap out of a child, and a moon crashing into Termina and Link being engulfed by its force.

Now we just need to add an "Real time mode", where you only get 3 actual days to save Termina. No warp backs, and time will continue even if you save and quit.

Oh... that would be awesome... but things would need to be altered to make it actually playable, since there times when you'll need it to be a certain time before you can do certain things. Like, for example, when you get your Ocarina back from the Skull Kid to turn yourself back into a human at the beginning of the game.
I think that would be too easy if you just went through all four temples without sidequests and stuff (besides the ones you already have to do to get the songs). And it would also be difficult to have to stay up till 2 AM to save Romani's ranch and all the other times you have to be somewhere to trigger an event...

*sigh* I'm getting REAL tired of all you guys saying, "OMG they put BEN in the remake!" You guys clearly know nothing about this game or the CreepyPasta even. BEN is made up and is a supposed "spirit" who haunts the game via the Elegy of Emptiness Statue (The statue that you guys see in the video.) This statue has been in the game since the original Majora's Mask was released guys. It was not created for a CreepyPasta, but was merely used in one.

This is undeniable proof that Nintendo knows their fans better than any other video game company. Better yet, Nintendo cares about their fans more than any other video game company.
It's a shame how so many people were begging for this game to happen, and now that it is happening 80 percent of these comments are premature nitpicking about graphics...
It is a shame to me this game so far looks very well ported to the 3ds for what is done. As for the people nitpicking they aren't real zelda fans if they nitpick about graphics. A real zelda fan would love any zelda game of any kind even if its a space shooter zelda game or a racing zelda game (just some examples lol)
this version plays at 60 fps while the n64 one ran at about 20 fps plus this is just the alpha the graphics will get better

I see a lot of people saying "the graphics don't look too different" besides the fact that they have months before finishing so this is still in development, if you actually compared this footage to the same things on an emulator, you'd notice how much better the textures are. Don't have to compare it to the rom on an emulator, but you'd have a much easier time seeing the differences. Some of the character models were obviously ported from OoT3D (just like the original ported OoT models) and some of the OoT3D characters were just rounder but still looked about the same texture-wise, so some of these characters will look very similar to their N64 counter-parts except rounder. I'm pretty sure the main focus with updating the graphics here is to keep it in the same style as OoT3D since the original was in the same style as OoT, so just compare OoT3D to OoT, and we should expect the same amount of differences visually with this remake. Personally I would've loved this to be on the Wii U, but I'm all down for this on the 3ds if they change the Owl Statues to be actual saves, or change it so you can save whenever because the current saving mechanic is not ideal for the 3ds, especially if you only get to play for like 10 minutes at a time.
OoT3D has the original N64 Glitches. MM3D will also have the same Glitches. I CAN'T WAIT TO BREAK MY GAME TO MAKE A TINY MOON :D
Antonio Rodarte They did fix the game breaking ones like the Ocarina Items which made it so you could beat the game in less than 30 minutes (speed runs), I think they also fixed the bomb hovering in OoT3D, though even if they didn't, MM's bomb explosions worked differently than OoT's. Main point is that the big game breaking ones will be fixed (most likely), but they'll probably add in any small and cool glitches for the fans.

I'm actually mid way thru the game. My first playthru. I thought I wouldn't like it because of the lack of Zelda, Ganon, tri force, master sword etc... BUT this is rlly fun. It feels exactly like a Zelda game should.

For the most part, what you said is true. But let's not over-estimate the number of people who are whining about the game. Only a minute number of people are complaining, they're just receiving a lot of attention. They're definitely in the minority!
I replayed this for this 3ds and kids today will never realise the struggle of the first cycle of trying to get all the stuff done (finding the kid's during hide and seek and getting the bombers code and moon tear) before the cycle ends and having the start the game from the beginning if you run out of time. Luckily they let you save on the first cycle on the 3ds so you don't have to be paranoid about time if you run out of it.
Dude, I totally know what you mean! I couldn't even figure out what I was supposed to do until I found a walk through.
On my first 3-day cycle, I was dicking around, knowing literally nothing.
I've memorized the locations of everything, so I just do sidequests on my first playthrough, I can end up getting half a heart container, or maybe 3/4's can't remember exactly. but you can get the Deku Playground Heartpiece on your first cycle. So I'll do the minigame on day one, find the kids, go get the tear, come back, and day two minigame, dick around more, collecting money and depositing it in the bank to get the big wallet, day three, do the final day of the minigame,

I remember seeing the trailer for this and I thought it was so cool. It just seemed like a wacky dark but humorous adventure all at the same time. So I got the game and I liked it a lot. It is definitely one of my favorite Zelda games of all time. Seeing this trailer again is like a big nostalgia trip for me.
I myself couldn't care less if this is on the Wii U or 3DS, I'm just happy they're actually doing it. :3

YES. Skull Kid would be such a great idea and a really original inclusion for Smash.
DLC for Hyrule Warriors, it can work. However, for Smash? It won't, because they made Skull Kid an assist trophy so he cannot be a playable character and an assist trophy at the same time.

Majora's Mask is such an amazing game. As a kid it seems like a happy game (besides the moon) with the happy carnival music and the happy sidequests. But when you realize what the game is actually about, it's definitely not a happy game. It's a very dark game. And I love it! Can't wait! My N64 died so I can't play this but I am glad it's coming out for the 3ds.

MM was the 3rd game I played then everyone made a big deal about the Elegy Of Emptiness statue.That ruined the game for me
I didn't play OoT or MM back in the day but I knew about them WELL before the Ben Drowned crap. I just never got around to playing them because I was to young to have enough money to buy them and nobody got them for me. Since then I fell in love with OoT on the 3ds and messed around a little with MM on emulators (I hate the save system in that game)

I suppose the titles may differ between the different versions of the soundtrack; e.g. the Japanese and German versions and their English translations. The track list I referenced is also a re-release from 2013, so it might be a few titles were updated since the original release.

This literally brings a tear to my eye whenever I watch it. This is one of my favorite games of all time, and seeing its bizarre nature revived for future generations makes me so happy.
WOW! My prayers and wishes have been answered! I've never played Majora's Mask in my life and so it's always been a game that I wished would make it to the DS or 3DS and so this is marvelous news for people like me. I certainly hope that the graphics will be sharpened and look even better on the 3DS did then they do in the above announcement trailer. BTW, that wicked Moon is epic!

The graphics did indeed get better. However, there were many downgrades in this version. Like the swimming, it became slower and more annoying to use. The momentum you get from skipping into water is now gone. Plus the twinmold boss fight became more tedious and frustrating.

It's been a long time since I last played Majora's Mask, but, if I'm remembering correctly, that old lady knew about what happened between the skull kid and the four giants. I think that the tale had been passed down in her family. She was one of the NPCs in Clock town and, if you talked to her, she would tell you everything that she knew about them.
I was a little disappointed with the moon's new face, considering how iconic the old one was. But this does look amazing! Can't wait to see what they add to spice this one up, like boss mode in oot3d

playing majora's mask was amazing on the nintendo 64, the gamecube, and the wii and now it's on the 3ds, even better! cause now we all get to play a really great game without the struggle of wires or a memory card, we can all play anywhere we go and any time we want. this is so exciting!
