How to Make Sopapillas
Easy Sopapillas Recipe
Dough For Sopapillas
Omg I remember eating these at Panchos in Houston mmmmmmm. Now I’m homesick
Me and my BFF were talking about that yesterday. It was a tradition on the weekend for all the HS kids to go to Pancho's. Great H-town memories!
OMG me too! Not Houston though. My childhood memories are finally going to happen! YESSSSS! I sent this to my local mexican restaurant and he said he would give it a try! YEEEESSSSSS! We lived up on Cedar Creek. There was a restaurant that made them this way. It was amazing. Literally have memories of this and longing to find this.
The purpose of Pancho Villas is their sopapillas. I haven’t found better ones anywhere else. I grew up in El Paso.
panchos is the reason I love these things and chiles rellenos! When we moved to TN I mourned for panchos lol every time we'd come home to visit it definitely included at least 1 trip to panchos in Mesquite
@@chellecopley67 OMG, I grew up in Mesquite, Tx... and we would go to Ponchos just for the sopapillas!
We are white Texans but every Christmas ever we have tamales, rice and beans. this year my Grandmother passed away and my Grandad requested someone to make these, (my grandmother used to make them) and that lot fell on me, so thank you for your video it helps me a lot.
My mouth says yes. But my waist line says no. Lol.
Same here. I made these and pretty much sipped on my morning protein shake. 😫
SAMMMEEEEE
🤣🤣👌👌
neptune s tell your waist line to look the other way......this is yummy
That's ok. I will have your share. My mouth says" feed me"" my waistline won't argue.
I can make tortillas because of you!
Yes me too . 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Felicia loves JESUS Yeshua me too!🖐
Yes, my tortillas always comes out super soft and delicious. Thank you so much Simply Mama!
I swear I thought My mother, who was NOT hispanic, made this pastry up but OH! Thank you for making my childhood memory a reality.
My wife and I have tried for years to make sopapillas since we are from New Mexico and now live in Utah where no restaurants serve them. Your recipe turned out great after I thinned the dough when I rolled then out. Thanks. Tomorrow Navajo tacos.
Recipes for Navajo tacos AND sopapillas? You're awesome. I live in NM and those are what I've been missing the most these days. Time to bust out the Blue Bird and make them myself. Thank you!
Looks delicious! One of my family’s favorite!!!
Omg! Thank you Claudia! Hope you all are well. 😊🙏💕
Oh, wow!!! Riquísimas. I didn't know that sopapillas were so simple to do. I will try ASAP. Gracias for the recipe.
Yes yes yes ty so much for this recipe your recipes are always used at my home
The restaurant I normally get them from they do powdered sugar, cinnamon & honey! Soooo good!!!🤤🤤🤤🤤
Thank you for this! My ex-mlaw had never heard of sopapillas. Despite making & frying tortillas since she was a little girl in Mexico. So... on one occasion when she was at my house, I convinced her to cut the tortillas up before frying them to make them into little pillow pockets (that’s how I had to describe them to her to get her to understand.) She did, and once they were done, I filled them w/honey. And she actually liked them. When she went back home to Texas, she made them for all the grandkids there. Also, she refused to give me her flour tortilla recipe, because it was, gasp ... FLOUR! Which is all I had in the house.
She sounds pleasant lol
I don't use oil in my sopaipilla or fry bread. They don't come out crunchy, instead really soft throughout. There's enough oil when you are frying them. I also add instant powder milk. Give it a try and see if you like the difference. Yours look good too
I am 5 months pregnant and I am drooling right now lol
Awww...congratulations! 💕
@@slipknotduality5784 for saying that your mom should have got rid of you. Disgusting.
Me too!
@@slipknotduality5784 lmao
This looks exactly like the ones we used to get at a little Mexican restaurant we went to on a regular basis. That was over 50 years ago. Going to make this this weekend. Thank you for the recipe!

I really appreciate you giving the weights of some of these ingredients especially with flour it's so much more accurate than cups!
Ok, I love this. I remember these from Texas and I was obsessed with these growing up. Ok now if you haven't tried the Sopapilla cheesecake, then prepare for your life to be changed FOREVER!
I now live in Florida but growing up in the Galveston/Houston area, I remember going to Pancho’s Mexican Buffet in Pasadena and eating TONS of Sopapillas! Of course their food - as good as it was - never equaled my mom’s enchiladas but it sure was fun raising the little flag on the table when we wanted more sopapillas!!! Nice memories during this trying time. Thanks, stay safe and God Bless y’all!
I was always raising that little flag!
Absolutely the BEST. I tried these for the first time at Poncho's Mexican restaurant in Texas and been hooked ten years ago ever since. They are a rare find. Thanks for bringing them Back. ✨🔥🔥🔥👏🏼
Takeheart daughter **Panchos** raise the flag lol. Can’t wait to go here if they ever reopen again. Most authentic mexican food around (joking)
Love Pancho's! So sad they closed in Bossier, Louisiana. 😔
Ahhh my favorite restaurant when I lived in Corpus Christi!!!!!!!!!!! Loved it so much when I went back to visit I HAD to go there and still loved it!

Reminds me of childhood!! Yum
I had these many many years ago going through New Mexico (I think) (over 50 years ago) and asked for them at restaurants in Ca but they never had them or didn’t know what I was talking about. I would fry flour tortillas and if they puffed up I would fill them with honey but these look better. You made my day, I am not crazy, they do exist!
I had these years ago can't wait to try
Gurrrrrrrlllll... You are pushing my buttons! I am doing this! 👏🤗💗 Thank you! Little puffy pillows of perfection 🤤

These are one of the things I missed from when I lived in a bigger city. I live in such a tiny place, I don't know any place in town that even serves sopapillas. You make it so easy. Now I can make them and introduce them to my daughter, who has never had them before.
Wow! Everyone, you have to try them. Dusted with cinnamon sugar and a cup of hot tea. A wonderful treat for lunch. So easy, so yummy. Thank you Angelica!
Yum I have never tried them before! Filled with honey made my mouth 🤤
Looks great!
Thank you for the recipe!!
I’ve been following your channel for a while now and I absolutely LOVE all the dishes you make. Mi madre solía hacer los mismos platos (ella falleció hace cuatro meses) Thank you for sharing your love of cooking with us! I would love to grab a copy of your cookbook if you have one out.
I made these and they turned out perfect!!!! ❤ Thank you it was so easy!!!
OMG.. they look JUST like the ones from Pancho's Buffet.. i am definitely going to try this recipe.. keep up the awesome and blessed work.
I was wondering if anyone else was going to mention Pancho’s!!! 👍👍
We miss our Ponchos, here in San Antonio Texas!
I remember them from my childhood from Pancho's in both Fort Worth/Dallas and El Paso. Outside of Texas (and Pancho's), restaurants seem to think that sopapillas are flat which causes me to miss the Pancho's kind so much every time I see them.
I love watching your videos... obsessed ! You make everything look so easy. I am not a natural in the kitchen.
Mmm yummy I like to stuff mine with beans and rice 👍
