Cowboy action shooters compete at a gun range near Columbia, S.C. @paradehorsegirl Thanks for watching the video. This video first appeared in our news story from Nov. 2009: bit.ly/po60W2 The story has some background on single action shooting clubs in South Carolina and their governing body: SASS, at www.sassnet.com.
that old guy at the end and how he walked through those doors was hilarious
You guys know how to have fun ! Best regards from Germany.
You could have knocked me over with a feather! Two of these folks are from Simpsonville, SC which is where I live. And I thought no one did Cowboy Action Shooting in my area. I gotta learn more!!!!
What a Great sport, I can't wait to try it.
Wonderful video. I believe you captured and shared the essence of what Cowboy Shooting is all about. Great job. Looks like great fun! Dressing in the ol' western duds and strapping on that leather rig with the .45 Colt, single action revolver would make just about anyone's day.
@thestateonline Thanks a bunch! :)
@botkyrkakillen they're using light target loads.
What was all the guns shooting black powder ? Or 22 cal. You guys are like a hr from me and I'd like to get involved is this type of shooting. Thanks
Some shooters use black powder but the lube on the lead bullets produces a certain amount of smoke even with modern "smokeless" powder. Only young shooters can shoot .22s. The most popular chambering is .38 Special because it's cheapest to feed and has low recoil. There are six different clubs in SC holding monthly matches. What's keeping you?
I got to shoot with those folks...great bunch!
Shot Big & Small Bore Animal Silhouette Competition back in the 80-90's. I remember the interest I had shooting with my Cowboy Brothers & Sisters? Picked up a pair of fix sight 45LC Rugers and Stagecoach 12 Ga. Side by Side's and did some 15 yard practice. Not as easy as shooting 5 shots in 2 minutes! Looked for a lever rifle, but there's was a shortage in my area? Seems that all the SASS shooters were buying up most of the supplies in my part of the State? 2012..it's 38 Spl everything? Sheesh!
Where do you folks get the steel targets??Nice video!!! Thanks..... Jim
jimbob6044 the web, just look up ar500 steel
Very nice event!
Maravilhoso amigao atirar
I live in Anderson SC, I'd like to come down there .. you gotta have your own guns and stuff or just clothes and can bring your own guns?

"Grand kids with their grand children"
+jrock7444 ayy lmao
ahahahahahahahhahahaa
Did you guys know that Sammy Davis Jr did fast draw and cowboy shooting back in the day, I saw him when I was a kid a very cool man!
I left after 25yrs because of the shooting. Targets So BIG and So CLOSE, it just got ridiculous. No fun if only speed is worshipped.
Sou apaixonado por arma de fogo prisipalmente revolveres e calibre 12
he is fast as hell
that lady went a little off the deep end at 2:49 lmao
She sure has some nice teeth...
I have a single action cattlemen and live in Columbia SC. How can I get involved in this?
Thomas Brown sassnet dot com
As an indian, if I choose to go to one of these events and compete, will I be shot? I'm pretty good with a lever gun, but I don't think I could take all of them.
Cade Johnson Lol nigga you look pale af and have a beard Get outta here
Are those 30-30 he's using? can a lever action really be shot that fast or is this rifle modified?
Karl Hans Only calibers from the 1900's allowed. No high powered rifles in 1899. Same ammo in rifles and pistols. .38sp, .44, .45. Rifles can be modified to cycle faster. Cowboy action shooting is awesome.
rolyatknarfable Correction. Only calibers from the 1800's allowed.
rolyatknarfable oh i thought cowboys back in the 1800s used 30-30 cartridges
Karl Hans A quick google search tells me 30-30 introduced in 1895. guess your right. Regardless, no high powered rifles. Ammo would be too expensive anyway. Rifle targets are typically only out 20+yds.
+Karl Hans back in the early 1800's it was 44-40. Most of the rifles are model 1873 (some earlier) & some 1892. All low velocity lead (no copper jacket) bullets
Hello from Great Britain 🇬🇧 A couple of quick questions - 1) How in the name of Jesus H Christ is it possible to miss those enormous targets? 2) Where is the goddamn skill in this? Many Thanks.
@Ningishara Did you like her cackle? It is S. Carolina, afterall.
@botkyrkakillen No it's real guns
i want one
Why is there barely any sounds from the guns?
BK-CarsandStuff they load there loads down for less recoil. just gotta hit the steel.
Less gun powder.
Is it BB-guns?
They don't by chance allow old double action revolvers (turn of the century) in these, do they?
Tubesy macTubeserson no
Tubesy macTubeserson It's single action. While there were double actions the ones from the 1800s were very expencive and finicky. The name of the game is speed and they will slow you down. A colt thunderer, for instance, while owned by famous outlaws like billy the kid, is very delicate amd could malfunction on you.
Yes that's what i had meant.
In the future if you are going to correct someone's statement in a video make sure you use correct grammar. I believe you meant to say grandkids with THEIR grandkids.
2:35 ...I heard gun fire after she got done...then she walks right in front of it?
@00:29 sign me up!
Ahh yes. Short-stroked rifles and mousefart loads. Real cowboy stuff there.
grandkids with there grandkids?
4 indians don't like this ;)
Really? thats only sad and ignorant because you made it that way in your head.
My sister's family does this, I tease them and tell them they're LARPing (Live Action Role Play)
So, seems the bad guys are yet the indians, the REAL. owners of the land where you are living. When your ancesters arrived there in América, they were already for centuries. Isn’t that so?
there was a lot of bad things that happened on both sides....like the slaughter of many peaceful missionaries that brought the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Indians...you will NEVER hear that in a public school
