The boarding was dirty, but that can slip from the refs. However the trip on Lundell had to be a 100% 2min penalty. No way anyone could let that go on any level of hockey.

Anttila laughing at the charging Canadian was a priceless touch. The goals that Finns made were also better looking (see Ruohomaa and Lindbohm).

I really liked the Finnish national team in this championship. Yes, even if this team did not throw a bunch of pucks to their opponents, they played consistently for the result! And it seems that in this match, everything was in their hands, but this team of Canada, in the playoffs, showed magic! It is fantastic! Actually the Finns can play awesome hockey. But they also love to play like Neymar-lanta and Diver-rutu. And I’m glad hockey started, once the refs saw through their BS and started to give penalties for their nasty, dishonest hockey play.

I cannot recall a series when both teams were so even and the game so close. Each rush, each shot was excitement and tension. For the golden goal, Canada simply skated more and finessed more to score, in only 15 seconds, a classic play. At this level, hockey is like that: a few seconds can make or break a game. Much respect to Finland: excellent players, clean play, great skaters. Much respect to Canada. The youngest team, never played together prior, almost eliminated in the round, but regrouped and played with true grit.

This is Canada's maybe 4th or 5th roster to send over. Most of these guys other then the sens boys, havnt played together ever. The fact that they built that much chemistry so quickly was amazing. This team earned everything, unlike thenfins that were diving and falling for calls all over the ice. The fins could learn to play with some integrity

As a Swede I was rooting for Finland. Imagine if Finland won, in that case the last time a non-Nordic country would've gotten the gold would been in 2016, that's kind of crazy.

Finland falls if wind blows. Many penalties were called against Canada that upon further review showed no infraction/or Finnish diving. Don't complain if it comes back to bite you.

Canada began the tournament 0-3. The just got stronger as the tournament continued. After they beat Russia they had a lot of confidence.

But for giving the perspective about other hockey nations, I give an example from my home country. Finland won 2019 World Championships with a team that almost nobody even in Finland gave any chances. We have won many times Junior World Championships where every country have all their best juniors. In the Olympic Games with all the best players from every country Finland has won many medals and left also Canada many times behind. Canada is the best, there is no doubt about it. But when you say that I am delusional, open the history books of ice-hockey and learn.

Go back to the faceoff that leads to the winning goal at 2:18 . The Finnish center wins the draw, and the Canadian center immediately skates behind him instead of playing defense on the guy that has the puck. I guess the finnish center had no idea he would try that because (with the canadian lw sprinting forward to cover the finns' D, and the canadian ld cutting towards the dot) it was immediately a 2-on-1and an easy pass to the finnish rw for a "breakaway" all alone in the slot. Either that's an audaciously brazen set play for canada that could have easily led to a gold medal losing goal, or the canadian center and defenseman had simultaneous brainfarts and still somehow worked out for them. Could have easily been an all-time "dang-it", instead it's an all-time perkele.

@@ln3591 Thank you for your support. My honest evaluation of the final is that Canada played better especially in the second period and overtime. I expected Finland to attack more bravely when it was 3 vs. 3, but it would have been contradictory to their playing style in this tournament. What Finland is doing now has been tried thousands of times in football and hockey, because it is wise tactics for teams with material fitting for it. When we won 1995, we had super line with Peltonen, Koivu and Lehtinen, and they played total attacking game. Now we had success with this style. In the end it won't last. Also Finland has to open up in future tournaments, because the attacking play will always win in the end.

Thanks for a great tournament by every team. I feel like the Canadian win was really undeserved after watching the final. I just dont get how you can do pretty much whatever you want in OT and get away with it. There were a couple of OBVIOUS penalties there that just got dropped because it was overtime. And why tf should the final be decided in a 3V3?? It really shouldve been a 5v5 where both teams can shine and show what they are capable of doing. Finland is the obvious winner in my eyes as they played both a better groupstage and a better final. Greetings from Norway 🇳🇴

Both teams played 3 v 3. so there's that. And the Canadians appeared to have more support skill than the Finns. They won by outplaying Finland at the Finn's own game. They didn't over commit and played it mostly safe. And the Canadians played short handed quite a bit yet the Finns couldn't capitalize. Sometimes when you play safe, you lose. And Nick Paul played that faceoff win by the Finns like a champ to start off the winning rush. In my opinion, the Finns might have been playing not to lose, while the Canadians played like they had nothing to lose. Big difference.

If some salt stays with me it is because I don't like the "you can do anything" in overtime. It is great when the game is not decides by refs, but it is so annoying when situation that led to a penalty, tieing goal and overtime, is then not called in over time...damn. Teemu P It’s also great, if a game is not decided by Neymar-lanta, Filma-runtu and Ballet-turku. The 1st third was a disgrace to Icehockey. The refs actually did their job for the first time in this tournament. Sorry, Canada had to play a nasty game play by the Finns and still won. They deserved it. Appart from that, it really was a great tournament over all.

This isn't like the old days when we could send a senior A team to play in the world's and win without breaking a sweat. If you follow international puck, these guys climbed mountains to win the gold.

Feels wrong to not whistle anything in OT but Finland really had this game on their hands and failed. Congrats to Canada, hopefully next world championship would have better quality players for every country. This year it seemed like every country had their B or C team on ice

I really wish Finland would stop playing their Neymar and diver hockey, wile doing nasty fouls themselfs. They are so good in hockey, they don’t need to play this dishonest and nasty hockey. So hopefully they return to the hockey community with more honour and great hockey than they displayed the last years.
@@thenicolascage4355 I have no clue what you are on about, Finnish people work really hard as you can see they achieved silver which doesnt come very easily. Defensemen were playing a really good game and basically the whole team also, but still Canada came out on top which is logical since they played as a team not just a group of players.
@@tambooo Today: Fin got hit in the shoulder, plays like being hit in the face, Finland scores PP goal. And it’s only when the refs put a stop to such behavior when hockey started. Before that it was just dishonest. Later Fins complain the refs didn’t give Canada penalties. Well, … look to the first 20 min. of the game on why the refs decided as they did.

And I see your point to an extent. 6 The power play that Finland first scored on, unfair or not, doesn't change the fact Canada still had many more just penalties. Why people are protesting so much is because the 2 clear fouls in OT were crucial, especially in that 3v3 situation.

Congrats to Canada from Finland. Couple of questionable decisions especially in the overtime by the referees but then again that's how it's been the whole tournament.
Canada got 30 minutes in penalties and Finland only 6. Refs were praying for Finland to win. They were Russian Referees and Russia hates Canada
