The Kiwi Design RGB Charging Stand For Meta Quest 3 is a great way to elevate (literally) your Quest 3 setup. You can buy this stand for $59.99 / £49 / €59.95 (with current discount in some regions) directly from the Kiwi Design Store ➡️ bit.ly/kiwirgbstand.
This is a VR headset charging stand for the Quest 2/3/Pro with integrated RGB lighting. It will store your Quest headset within a small footprint stand and it will also keep your headset charged, thanks to a flexible magnetic connection on the side that simply connects to an inserted magnetic charging pin that you attach to the Quest's charging port.
In the box, you get all the parts you need to assemble the stand. Charging the stand can be done via your own USB-C Quest power cable and power adapter, or you can supply a more suitable cable and adapter that will connect the charging stand to a nearby wall socket. An 18W+ adapter is advised here.
Installing the stand is very simple it comes in eight parts. Six of them are the stand itself and the last two connect to the headset and the stand to charge the headset once it's placed onto the stand.
Assembly takes little time, following the easy-to-use instructions, and you simply connect a USB-powered cable to the back of the stand to power it for charging and also to enable the display of its RGB light at the front of the headset resting plate.
Charging your headset is done by plugging in the bundled USB C adapter into the power port of the headset, and once you've placed the headset onto the stand, the rubber, flexible connecting arm on the stand will connect magnetically to the charging connector attached to the headset. It's very low-fi, but it simply works and with very little adjusting needed too.
This stand does not charge your controllers, the arms that are placed on either side of the stand, simply give the controllers a place to easily rest whilst your headset is charging. The holes are wide enough to fit their own straps attached to each controller. Other brands also seem to work well here too.
The stand has a decent weight to its base, and there is a grippy pad underneath the base that will help reduce the stand from sliding on a flat surface. The stand is also designed in a way that or not easily top all over if the stand or the surface it is on is nudged.
Overall the RGB Stand from Kiwi Design is as simple yet well built stand that's not only sturdy, it adds some extra flair to your games room with the aid of its RGB lighting at the front. Although it isn't as visual as their wider horizontal Quest 2 charging dock, the bar has plenty of attract modes and colours to suit your man/girl cave.
If you have Kiwi Designs very comfortable Quest 3 Elite Battery Strap, the stand also works well with its charging cable, keeping both the battery strap and Quest 3 charged for hassle-free charging of the headset. In short its a perfect duo for keeping your Quest 3 ready for game time!

  • An attractive all-in-one solution. Unfortunately, there is no information about the dimensions on the homepage. Could someone please help me find out how much space the combination of headstrap and charging station with controllers has, i.e. width, depth and height? What is the height of the rear holder of the headstrap and would you have to add this if you wanted to put them together on a shelf?

    • You’ll need top bit for the headset rear to rest on. It’s all one piece that slides on top.

  • Great first impression! I wonder if you can hang the controllers with grips on them or if the headset will charge with a Bobovr M3

    • Thanks. I’ve had the full covered kiwi design grips (review coming soon) inserted into this stand no problem. It can have the headset mounted onto the stand with the bobo attached to it but it obviously won’t charge the rear battery of the bobo. With the magnet attached it could charge the headset battery though.

  • Does the magnetic usb adapter also have a usb input on it so you can plug in a battery pack or link cable, or do you have to swap out the adapter when you want to plug sometging else in?

    @HoodyNynja@HoodyNynja4 ай бұрын
    • There is no pass through on the adapter itself.

  • So u have to remove the usb cable from headstrap that u had plugged into a battery and plug into this connection to charge the unit? Defeats the purpose of using the doc. People usually buy the dock to charge headset so the current usb cable doesn’t have to be unplugged over and over again

    • Kiwi has its own battery strap that works with this stand. It has passthrough on the cable that connects to the magnet side of the stand. kzhead.info/sun/oLGiZrimmH6dqWw/bejne.htmlsi=5rRIA4RMDgNJIDwv Otherwise it’s a stand that I guess wasn’t made to work with battery straps as most charge via a port at the back which this hasn’t been designed for.

    • Do u now if the meta quest doc works well with bobovr headstrap? I read review that it doesn’t sit properly on the doc

    • I thought the dock charged through the pins below the headset? So how would the halo prevent that? Maybe weight of battery at the back so it sits funny? Sadly I don’t have the dock to test this. Bobo S3 is on route though 🙌🏻

  • Can it go into sleep mode while on there? Shouldn't the headset mistake the stand for your face and not enter sleep mode??

    • It does go to sleep. It must be close though

  • Hi mate just got mine 2day played for 3 hours straight quest battery stayed at 100% , head strap went from 4 lights to 1 . When putting the headset on the dock the quest light was still green I’m wondering if it would be better to recharge the headstrap independently because maybe it could damage battery in quest any thoughts

    @jayjayp9618@jayjayp96184 ай бұрын
    • I think thats as designed. My assumption is the quest was at 100% because it was siphoning from the headstrap. hence why the headstrap went down to one. the real test is to play, let the headstrap drain all, then you should see the quest battery start depleting. im ordering the stand + battery headset tomorrow. cant wait to get it. how comfortable would you say it is.

    • Headstrap is comfortable stand is cool . I just don’t think it’s a good idea to keep letting the quest charge when it’s at 100% surely in long run it could damage the cells . My quest hasn’t dropped below 90% since using strap . To be on safe side tho I discount the usb from quest wen light goes green and just attach cable straight to magnet that way it just charges the head strap

      @jayjayp9618@jayjayp96184 ай бұрын
    • @@GenerlAce You can leave your headset and controllers in the charging dock overnight; that way, they can be fully charged the next morning. It is recommended, though, that you don't leave the controllers and headset in the charging dock for a long period of time, as this can damage the battery and cause it to not play as long. This is from meta website

    • The strap battery will always pass charge to the quest 3 first before charging itself. So if Q3 is green the battery strap will start charging next and the Q3 will only trickle charge if it’s left powered on. It’s best to shut the headset down if you don’t intend to play it for a couple of days, and disconnect the charge pin once the strap has fully charged.

    • I am a little bit confused. I got the stand but my kiwi head strap that I bought with a battery has a USC adapter that plugs into my Meta Quest headset. I have to unplug that in order to plug in the magnetic charger so I don't know if mine is charging the headset And it has a separate USB-C plug. What am I missing?

    • I agree yet the controllers don’t need as frequent charging as the headset does
