What never ceases to amaze me, is that somebody first purchased that land, then applied to build a house on that spot, got the permission, then has had the house build at these exposed areas and everybody went along like saying: *”yep, perfect spot to build a house”*
Not quite, it’s more about paying for stupidity
And then get an insurance payout when it's underwater
That additional clip you added at the very end was really interesting (and alarming!). The contrast between the separate years was an incredible visual.
Eventually Mother Nature always wins!!!
But even then it will be father time that ends her.

I remember around 6 years ago, seeing on the news that the waves were so strong that year in Dawlish that they destroyed the foundations of the main railway track between Devon and Cornwall, cost millions to repair and it affected peoples ability to get to and from Devon and Cornwall for ages.
I've NEVER understood why anyone would purchase a house so close to the end of rock, near the ocean. It's beautiful but the risks of everything being destroyed isn't worth it.
I bet they pay for that view thru insurance
Some of those homes have been there hundreds of years.
i live in a house on the beach, been there forever, my mum said that the water used to splash against the windows , but there are groines there now and the water doesnt come anywhere near the house.
OMG SAME i was always saying that in like some places like that thailand tsumanmi in 2004 the people didnt know it was coming so like all of the houses got destoroyed and 25,000 people died its just not worth it and when i was n vacation in the OBX we rented a house near the ocean and i kept getting so nervous dont know why and the houses lititrally on the beach are millions of dollars what if a huuricane hit's there? you know!
Janet Duncan if you have to ask that question you can’t afford it
Never underestimate the power of the ocean!
Who did?

It’s good to always overestimate just in case some thing bad happens like this😉
"Never turn your back on the ocean"
@@cindys9491 I've learnt that one from rock fishing! One rogue wave is all it takes!
All I'm saying is this coulda been 2 minutes long with no narration
There's like 3 minutes worth of footage after the narration-

Don't be a natty narrator Karen

This was a great watch!! Those were some waves!! Great choice!! The one that the apartment building ocean side that was falling down the cliff was in Esplanade Ave, Pacifica, CA 94044, USA. Those apartments aren’t there anymore. KZhead has videos on the whole story.
There is something very important thats missing in the Human Race Its called...Common Sense...

It is very interesting to see where they built that building!
There has to be a really good story behind the answer to everyone's questions here about "why do people build things like houses, foolishly so close to the oceans edge?!" I imagine first of all it's meant to make you question: the ultimate WHY!? Overall IT'S A GREAT VIDEO! Thanks so much for posting! These are some interesting shots. Very awesome to take in how much of the world I have not seen up close and personal. I love living on the East coast though. There's still so much to learn here, I haven't tried, I haven't traveled and seen! This is a great insight to the unknown. I love it!
People need to RESPECT the Ocean. So much power!
First video.... I was like OH EFFFF THAT. 😂 can’t imagine being in that apartment
Nature's so powerful, so scary 😱 yet so amazing to see
It appears that in a number of cases where there are sea walls, only the wave tops made it beyond that barrier and only because of momentum did it keep going in the original direction of the wave. What might be tried in such circumstances is to use a deflector on top of the sea walls to redirect the water away from the wall to keep it from splashing over and to use the direction reversal to help cancel some of the wave energy. it's worth a try.
I remember the Sea Lion inn in Malibu Ca. Once it had Sea Lions in it when they had a really high tide,

A lot of people don't realize that these waves are so heavy and solid that they crush cars and break windows.
I know right one time that happened to my house

Here I at the Oregon Coast in a house overlooking the Pacific Ocean after just hearing the tsunami test horn that is done weekly. Still loving it
We were in Lincoln City for six months on the 101. We remember that quite well! Many beaches were only there half day, lots of beach erosion tons of HUGE scary waves, sounded worse then a car crash in the middle of the night. Be ready that alarm will be useful one day. Lol
Ha! That restaurant was in Mukilteo, WA....Ivar's.....the swells were only 6-7 feet, but at high tide that is indeed through the window.
That does not seem to make sense to have the building there.
S R T United States. Lol
Imagine sleeping or taking a nap then waking up to this. 😂
Thanks for the next couple of
Don't mess with mother nature.... I have nightmares that a huge wave is coming to knock me over....0^0
If waves are swelling next to glass windows, that's my cue to move away or leave.
People don’t think the sea is rising, but the first signs will be large waves at high tide. Miami, Jakarta, some islands are all flooding.
stunning big waves enjoy watching
Wow narration. Seems to be getting rarer and rarer thank you
Great commentary - just one question where else would you build a fishing port apart from near the sea! Coastal erosion has also meant that some inland villages are now on cliff edges or in the sea.
The commentary was great? How so?
@@k.mccarty7907 no kidding. The lamest narration ever!
I’m mostly amazed that it was even possible to make buildings where it’s common for waves
Wow those waves are incredible!
Number 5,really deserved to be No.1!!!!.
3:28 That car said nope
You should have included what happened on the coast of Portofino, Italy, one exact month ago... two harbors and a road were completely cancelled by the force of the sea during a storm, and luxury yachts where shut on the promenade of Rapallo. There is also a video showing a huge wave destroying a first part of the concrete wall of the pier, which will be gone totally during the night.
Federico Lagomarsino Was this a typical storm for that area or something totally out of the ordinary? I’m just curious because I just saw breaking news of a 7.0 Earthquake in Anchorage Alaska. We have been having so many extreme weather events over the last couple of years.
@@mindyvaughn8217 Dont forget the increase of media coverage. More cameras just means more coverage, not necessarily more extremities. And an earthquake has little to nothing to do with climate change.
That would have been a good news item. Unfortunately this channel is just about editing existing material making an easy income. Searching for newer material is not their priority.
Mindy Vaughn I live on the coast, 10 km from Portofino. We often have big sea storm during fall mainly, but this one was something never seen in so many years. A lot of old people have said that they had never seen something like that before and road and structures on the sea that were built more than 100 years ago, were destroyed for the first time.
Vero compagno. E 'stato un orrore. Bacione.
Cool video! i love all of your videos and i hope you get better and better in vids!
Years ago a wave blasted through the Chart House restaurant in Malibu, washing the furniture out to Pacific Coast Hwy.
The power of MOTHER NATURE is not to be messed with. 🌊
People buying homes on the edge obviously have more money than sense.

Gotta love that coastal weather

2:06 It is Pronounced *Ill Fra comb,* and usually considered quite a safe place to stay !
I agree, When I went the waves were quite big but jeez
I stayed in a hotel there and the vacant cottage below our window was being totally consumed by waves everyday. A few months later that same cottage was a giveaway in a competition in the sun newspaper.
Awesome video ty for sharing 🙃
As an FYI the homes in Pacifica were built away from the beach. They had a ton of room away from the beach or cliff when they were built but decades of terrible storms and sea level rise lead to the erosion of the cliff face. I know since I live there.
Good info thanks
It's crazy seeing the clip of Portland, I was only there yesterday!!!
The sea was angry that day, my friends - like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli.
Out of my own eyes when you look out there to the water there's no curve I only see curve when looking at oceans through a camera but out my own eyes the edge is straight line of course great video
Literally the first time I’ve seen a top five video from top 5’s

When I was at the caravan in the UK a giant wave came over and literally took the cafe into the ocean with it it was mental
Watching this with my kitten in our warm home and telling myself I'll never go where these huge waves are.
I just wonder how much these people pay for insurance?
amazing and very scary all at the same time.
that's how the sea level rises slowlly waves catch up even more easelly to places they barelly could before
Climate change:(

The wave that came through the window while the couple was eating, happened at Mo's Chowder in Cannon Beach, Oregon. I believe that happened around 2007.

Awesome music score.
Always put a building directly in the path of storm driven surf. That way you can be shocked each time it get pounded into pieces.

O mar, a natureza, têm de ser respeitados. Guardar uma distância segura. Se vc não sabe lidar com a sua força, construir solidamente, fique fora de sua ação possível.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. Wow.
The number 1 scene was at Pacifica, California. The San Andreas Fault runs just inland there and goes into the ocean to cross the Golden Gate just north of there. The building pictured is gone now, but it was once 50 meters from the edge. The ground there is sandstone, formed the last time that area was below the sea. It was pushed up by the movement along the fault and now the sea is taking it back.
Very nice 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Yeah I agree
It's a horrebal and very scary waves. Powerful waves ! Sorry for my anglish. Hello from Kazakhstan. 😏 😉
Thanks alot for your vedio
Houses built on the edge, that's what I call more money than brains.
They probably weren’t on the edge 20 years ago. Our small town is falling into the sea due to increased sea levels and clay cliffs. All around England they are attempting to slow it with huge boulders etc but eventually the sea will take it all
people are so happy when there ship comes in but dont think about what might be following it.
душа и сердце взмывают вместе с волнами! !!!! фантастика!!!!
Three aspects of these clips are in the Bristol Channel - worth looking on a map. Second highest tide drop in the World, with the Severn Bore as it narrows towards Gloucester. Two clips are from Ilfracombe North Devon, which are OLD BUILDINGS not new and are built on a rocky outcrop which forms part of a sheltered harbour. Porthcawl is on the Welsh side of the channel, almost opposite.
Who's that weird that builds up a building directly on the sea? 🤷♀️
You get a lovely view

Apparently a lot of civil engineers needs their degrees and license revoked! I mean damn! Yeah it’s ok, go ahead and build it right here!🤣😳

That's nature taking back it's coast. Is brilliant. It might teach us humans to not destroy the beautiful land we have
True!
I liked because you not add scary sounds only cool ones
El oceano es imponente y poderoso, mis respetos!!!
This is one of the reasons I have no desire to go on a cruise, the ocean is way too unpredictable and I have no desire to be out in the middle of it.
Geeze Louise, could you fit a few more ads into the video. Didn't finish as I hate the interruptions.
Then get Iridium. It blocks ads but allows you to show ads on specific channels so support your favs and block the rest.
🇧🇷 Impressionante
That one at ilfracombe the tide gets really high there it's quite scary to see how far up and down the sea goes.
I must be watching some weird shit for this to pop up in my recommendations lol and I dont understand why people continue to build cities and towns on coastlines... like build them close enough to be able to drive or walk and enjoy the view 🤦🏾♂️
Lmao 🤣
