Another good Schrader valve trick is to super-glue a BB into the bottom of the cap. Few hours later, flat tire. Very little chance that the BB will be detected. They get it refilled, checked for leaks, no leaks, put the cap back on, goes flat again. 'Course if you go to a tire shop, often they just replace the stem if they can't detect any other leak because the valve stems are usually the source of unknown leaks.

I gotta say, I really appreciate the audio volume reduction for really loud sounds, even if it messes with the voice a bit at points. Quiet stuff stays quiet normally, and loud stuff is loud, but ANNOYINGLY loud stuff gets cut down so we know it's real loud, but I can just throw this on my headphones while I'm doing something else and I don't need to mute it whenever you spray air or use a saw. And, unlike my metalworking dayjob, I don't have to wear earplugs all day!
@sinaps38774 жыл бұрын
Safety note: Be really careful about putting flammables into that and then pressurizing with air. You could get unexpected results, especially with stuff that contains mineral spirits (Stoddard solvent), VM&P naphtha, or the like. It's safer to use CO2, Nitrogen, Argon, or mixed MIG gas for pressure if you have any on hand. Horrible Fright used to have a refillable spray can, not nearly as nicely made, but lots cheaper. Looks like they no longer carry it.

I've cleaned plenty of PCs with a normal compressor. Never had an issue and I doubt I'm an outlier in that regard. You have to blow it at one spot for quite a while before moisture becomes an issue.
@OstrichWrestler6 жыл бұрын
You can get valves that go in-line at multiple points to scrub moisture out of a run of the mill air compressor. As well as much better intake filters than the crappy foam pad you get out of the box with majority of air compressors. Not at all expensive stuff, even the cheap variants work better than whatever they use for cans of compressed air you can buy for that purpose. The problem isn't the compressor air, it's a problem of what air your compressing, just like breathing around hazardous chemicals use appropriate filters and you'll get results that work for whatever your using it for.
@eideticex6 жыл бұрын
BTW, the "canned air" isn't air at all. It's difluoroethane. (and sometimes tetrafluoroethane). It's more similar to freon than air.

In the biolab I worked in for a short while they used repurposed window cleaner spraybottles from the supermarket to spray ethanol around. It sure worked a lot better than the more scientific looking squirt bottles, because a mist covered surfaces way better than a jet. They're pumped with your fingers of course, so not a lot of pressure, but if you want to spray something on the cheap, it may work for you.
@antalz6 жыл бұрын
I use the Hot Shot refillable spray can. Eastwood carries them. It is more economical for our shop to use a 55-gallon drum of brake cleaner then it is to buy it individually or by the case. The HotShots are easily rebuildable and have multiple nozzles for different spray patterns. The contents are about twice to three times the average spray can.

There are loads of refillable spray cans, i remember having one like the synbright type. If you cook a lot, those are great for cooking oil. You don't end up with the residue from the commercial cans of nonstick cooking spray. And if you put the right top on er, you get a decent atomization of the spray. I got a cheaper variant for my kitchen oil, 3 pumps with a bicycle pump and it is full. it works pretty ok, but the tip tends to get a little clogged so you end up with a bit of a sputtery splotchy spray.

You can get a larger version of the same thing in Canada. I picked up a Vaper Spot Sprayer at KMS a few days ago. It doesn't split in half, which would make cleaning more difficult, but I think it's basically the same spray tank that Abom uses for his degreaser.

Menards here in the US has refillable metal spray bottles you can charge to 90 PSI for like $9. I have several and they're super useful for everything from solvents to degreasers.

We have these at work, also some that were supplied by Motip iirc. I use mine for brake clean, has held up quite well, the schraeder valve is busted though(I have the motip one, no safety valve on that one :D). Another reason it's split in two is because you're supposed to fill it about half way with liquid, that way you don't run out of air spring before you run out of schmoo.

I've always wondered if you're actually tri-lingual or if you only know enough French and Zgermahn to get into bar fights.
Fich Dich Yankee-doodle-dandy!
I'm just going to leave Google Translate open in another tab...
no offence uncle bumblefu*k but its a "k" instead of an "h" in "Fich"
Fick dich isn't an insult. it's saying fuck you(sexually)
Yup just bar fights...
Not to be confused with the Schroedinger valve which may or may not leak cats.
Depends on whether you glued a BB pellet into the cap.
Martin P. Hellwig brilliant
SciGuy Depends if you are quantum superstitious ;-)
It does both but also neither 😉
Greg Ewing actually i had a bike tire once that did that 😂
Life pro tip: the tweezers on a Swiss Army knife work to remove Schrader valves.
Testing this on my neighbor tonight...
S.K. Wirrel so how did it go? Asking for a friend.
Hostile Pride Not sure, I wasn't able to check, for some reason he seemed unable to jump my fence and ride through my back yard for the last couple of days ;-)
I tried this the other night, didn't work very well. Got me one of those drivers on ebay, they're less than $1 from China.
Hm, gotta keep that one in mind... Ain't got nothing to do with that yellow car down the road, nope.. totally not.. no..
You trying to pronounce "Wiederbefüllbare Sprühflasche" was HILARIOUS. If I hadn't read it on the packagaging, I would have thought you had a seizure 😂
Felix Stöger what's the transliteration of that by the way?
Refillable Spraybottle
Florian Schlösser how many German fans does AvE have?! That's awesome. And y'all make great stuff when it comes to prescision enginerding. Germany is like the one country that reads the instruction manual, even though they probably wrote the thing.
Jack Blakely I am german and I refuse reading manuals. If it‘s not intuitive it‘s a crappy enginerding job or I‘m too stupid. Feels like cheating too. Edit: Stuff goes right into the fuck it bucket.
We used to have a phrase about Germany - quite true in many aspects, "The place where CAUTION is always written in capital letters."
LOVE IT!
Mark quinn very nice tip thank you
that's why my valve caps are clear, not black.
@@tommihommi1 you must be really liked by the neighbors if this was such a problem for you that yah hadda order clear valve stem caps...

Put some baby formula in that thing and feed the youngin in record time!
microbuilder i can already hear him saying 'aaaand TIME'
lol Indeed, just dont aerate the gullet, or that burping session will most definitely release some projectile shmoo.
microbuilder having done that 5 times myself, I can assure you, there is NOTHING you can do to prevent the shmoo.
Wasn't the green liquid baby formula ? That's what my parents used to feed me.
Though he calls her chickadee I do not think he feeds her like a baby bird.
I've written a song for the old Bridgeport sang to the tune of "do your balls hang low" Does she chooch real slow, can you slide her to and fro, does she grind on your bit till the schmoo let's go, Can you make her go hard, or does she make you take it slow, does she chooch real slow? Does she chooch real fast, do you make it want to last, can you slide you're drill right up in to her...... chuck, Is she good at what she does, can she shave it smooth as glass, does she chooch real fast?" I wrote that on the throne just for the channel, hooe you enjoy!
Not all heroes wear capes. Well done.

Having worked for a tire shop for six years in a previous life, I have always marveled at the engineering in the Schrader valve. And at the morons that bypass said engineering by way of using those cheap spring-loaded pressure indicator caps from the auto parts store.
Better yet. I've heard of putting a BB (like an aerosol gun one) on the inside of the valve stem cap... no one ever suspects that. And as long as they keep putting it back on it keeps leaking.
_That's pretty sneaky sis!_
Works great for bicycle tires as well!
explain? I don't get it.
that has to be a tiny BB but I like your thinking
the (usually black cap you but on the tire valve to keep it safe) is the one we are talking about here.. take an airsoft gun bullet (bb) and show it up in the black cap... most won't look in there. and voila you got a flat tire maker with out hurting the tire ... (unless you drive with it flat..)
Yep, you're definitely a true man, pissing round the rim, not in the hole... :P

That's why it's round on the end.
exactly what I thought...
That was the shittiest attempt at doing a thing that I've seen him do... or not do... I mean jeez, fine for a porno but this is real life, hit the hole buddy! At least try!
True men piss when they have to no matter where they are since corners are everywhere.
We've got some refillable aerosol bottles at the shop that we fill with brake clean out of a 40 gallon drum. Best thing ever being able to soak a part in way too much solvent whenever you're too lazy to properly clean it off yourself
This is so cool! My grandpa was an engineer and he used to convert old spray paint cans into a refillable with a lid to fill paint and a port to pressurize it with a bike pump.... millions lost in patents lol
Lot of us did. It's a perfect brazing project for the shop.
really thankful for you tuning down the volume and not blowing out my ears. attention to detail
a friend of mine uses an old fire extinguisher. Pressure comes from the air compressor and it takes like 10l, that chuches good. it emptys fast and is easy to use, just a few fittings.
are those O-rings safe for Astro-Glide? (asking for a friend)
SureShot Sprayers are what we use in the shop I work at for parts solvent. They work great, rated to 200psi and can get them with pressure relief valves. Plus they have aluminum and steel bodies and they are larger.
When I was in the coast guard the pilots sprayed down the Lynx helicopter with something that smelled like WD40 or CRC 5-56 from a stainless 10-20 liter bottle on wheels. This was done to keep the thing from corroding from the sea spray.
Haters gonna hate but the Ryobi p738 Inflator is the best air duster I have ever seen!! Tried cans and refillable found they didn't last very long, Ryobi runs as long as you have batt and moves some chaff. Made a custom small nozzle for the tight stuff and blammo clean bench, tools, etc. Would love to see an Ave BOLTR
That'd be handy for blowing dust out of the desk top confuser.
i use a bicycle foot pump connected to the shell of an old Bic pen, it's ideal for that.
I use a metro datavac esd-safe electric blower.
I've cleaned plenty of PCs with a normal compressor. Never had an issue and I doubt I'm an outlier in that regard. You have to blow it at one spot for quite a while before moisture becomes an issue.
BTW, the "canned air" isn't air at all. It's difluoroethane. (and sometimes tetrafluoroethane). It's more similar to freon than air.
I'm pretty sure that you just caused their sales go up 500%.
Yeah... thanks to his friggin video, I'm now the proud owner of a bad-arse refillable schmoo choocher that I have yet to find a project for. Killer work bench art for the time being though! Thanks for the vids AvE! Learned a hell of a lot from your videos along with pulling the trigger on a few dang good tools. I got the Milfukee M18 chainsaw after watching your video. One thing I was really surprised about was how it cut faster than my brand new Stihl MS-170 home jobber saw using the m18 12ah behemoth battery.
Zachary Pritz Not possible that it cuts faster than the Stihl

Back in the 90’s I had a friend who took all four Schrader valves out of a sheriffs car after he got pulled over for no reason, he happened to see the same sheriff deputy a few days later park at a bowling alley, waited for him to go in, took out all four valve. Then he watched in the distance for him to come back, the expression was priceless.
I typed in "haz" on amazon and the first suggestion was hazet 199-4 everyone that has seen this video wants one
Viton o-rings apparently. A bit more resistance to the nasty (read: good) liquids. The listing says it CAN be used with brake cleaner. 60 sterlings though... ouch, I'm out.
Not Sterlings; British doll hairs! ;)
We're not the 51st state... yet. The Queen loves her pounds.

YeGods (other deities are available) that's almost 12.387 groats! (Thud)
Hazet says it can be used with brake cleaners thanks to that viton stuff
In the biolab I worked in for a short while they used repurposed window cleaner spraybottles from the supermarket to spray ethanol around. It sure worked a lot better than the more scientific looking squirt bottles, because a mist covered surfaces way better than a jet. They're pumped with your fingers of course, so not a lot of pressure, but if you want to spray something on the cheap, it may work for you.
I use the Hot Shot refillable spray can. Eastwood carries them. It is more economical for our shop to use a 55-gallon drum of brake cleaner then it is to buy it individually or by the case. The HotShots are easily rebuildable and have multiple nozzles for different spray patterns. The contents are about twice to three times the average spray can.
crazy, I was literally just about to buy one of these

Bro your reading of the German was awesome I had a good laugh you remind me of myself when I order stuff from Italy and read the Italian instructions best part of your video
Years ago when I ran a car garage, we bought several similar devices from Wurth for spraying light grease and penetrating oil. If this one is designed in a similar fashion, the Wurth ones had a base that connected to the air line so you could charge it just by pressing the can into the base.
9:30 I hope you sit down to pee

Just what i was looking for! Thanks Sir AvEalot
There are loads of refillable spray cans, i remember having one like the synbright type. Also, the schrader valve has changed a lot, the first i remember was a tube with holes in the side, and a piece of rubber slid over the tube, later there was one with an external spring, the spring pushed against a ridge in the assembly when you screwed it in.
"...the first i remember was a tube with holes in the side, and a piece of rubber slid over the tube" That's a Woods valve, different to a Schrader valve and a lot less reliable.
Thanks for clarifying :)

My grandfather kept on of those Tin Woodsman oil cans in on his work bench and had it full of gasoline and would clean up every little drop of oil every time one hit the concrete, OCD fucker repaired mowers, conditioners, fridges, and farm equipment. Hell the first time I went in his shop was after he died and had owned it for right around 50 damn years, floor was nearly immaculate.

Not done that since I was a kid!
Fill it with tequila! Or pcp. Hey I don’t judge.
Schrader valves are also mostly used in AC systems to access pressure gauge for service.
$150 dollariedoos, tell him your dreaming
Amazon has other blow bottles from $30. Pumping to 120 psi is bicycle tire range and a bike pump looks more convenient that compressor, but you'll go with what ya got.
