What’s most impressive about this series win is that the Avs managed to score at least 5 goals in every game, on a Vezina winning goaltender in Hellebuyck nonetheless.
I feel like its not just scoring on Helleybuck. Its just destroying the defense and getting good chances.
Hellebuyck is a fraud!
They said the same shit about Sorokin after coming in second for the Vezina last season. People are morons. Even one game will get people trolling.
Winnipeg whiteout? No that was an Avalanche.
The Jets were drinking from a fountain that's pouring like an avalanche that's coming down the mountain.

Naw, the Avs are that good. Ask Vasilevsky how the 22 Stanley cup final went.
He was garbage. Stop lying to yourself.
near the end of the game there was a timeout, and in that moment you could see the difference between these teams. Ever single avalanche player was with Bednar looking at the play, including those who were not going to see the ice. Pan over to the Jets, and 2 players paying attention, and everyone else just sitting around catching breath. Two teams with 2 very different goals for the season, and it showed in the series
I noticed that as well.
Almost like the Jets knew the game was already over or something..

He's a lot like Mikko, tall, tough, quick. Not quite as skillful or experienced, but he does remind me of the Moose a lot. He's getting better each year and growing into his frame in this system. Between him and Drouin, the Avs reclamation project is getting results.

I'm shocked by how this series went. I was REALLY impressed with how Winnipeg was constructed and thought was built for the playoffs.
They shat the bed and them some this series.
I bet they would have done better than Vancouver against Nashville
Agreed, but credit where it's due. Avs looked amazing
I was not a fan of the crowd booing hurt players off the ice. Not cool. And that's not bias I'd be pissed at the Can doing the same thing.
I think they were more frustrated because they had momentum and the play was blown dead when they still had the puck. Not saying that they should’ve been booing, but when Colorado scored on the ensuing shift, I can see why they’d be frustrated

Before the series Jared Bednar was asked by the media if he was concerned about losing all 3 regular season games to Winnipeg this year. His response was fantastic: “No, I’m not really concerned. They haven’t seen our team yet.” Rick Bowness needs to be fired. He got taken out to the woodshed this series.
His contract (Bowness) is over. There is an option for one more season though. I'd definitely be looking to replace Bowness & his associate (Arniel) & others. The belief is Arniel will now be head coach. Not good.
Perhaps Craig Berube would be a better coach for them. He has the experience to actually coach them.
@@SantiagoTPC Definitely Craig Berube. If he'd live here I'd definitely do that asap if I was Jets GM. They'd better get a coaching change made soon. They waited too long on Barry Trotz to make up his mind a few years ago.
The first team and goalie to allow 5 goals in the first 5 games Jets and Hellebuyck the future vezina winner and Jennings winner team just wow
28 goals allowed in 5 games. There's unacceptable, and then there's the utter clownshow that is the Jets defense. I genuinely feel bad for Hellebuck because he didn't deserve this, and if i were him I'd demand a trade
I see a place where he'd be appreciated...but you'd have to take Dumbois back...
Remember when Colorado lost 7-0 in there last meetup of the regular season. I remember many Jets fans acting as if they already won the series. Clearly not…😂 Go Avs Go

I waited till after midnight to hear from Shannon on how the Avs did today. Couldn’t fall asleep before that.

This is not on Hellabuyck in the slightest. Absolutely hung out to dry all series
i think poink has scored as many playoff goals for the Avalanche as Matt Duchene......
The Jets might have had the worst showing in the first round, and that includes a Capitals team that didn't win a game. Letting in a minimum of 5 goals per game is not a recipe for success Also once you saw Y2J, you knew the Jets were toast.
What an embarrassing time to be a jets fan. I just love losing 4 games in a row for the nth time.

Nah I wouldn’t be embarrassed. Colorado is on another level than most teams.
I'm a Jets fan and I'm not embarrassed at all. Disappointed, absolutely. But it was a really good season to watch. A season is worth more than how it ended, I think.
Didn't have a mitosis joke on my Hockey Guy bingo card. Cracked me up, "What's Hellebuyck supposed to do other than, I don't know, MITOSIS?!"
I always find it interesting how it's "The losing team played so BAD!" yet very little about how totally dominant the winning team was. I mean, the Avs probably have the Hart winner for this year and he only scored 2 goals out of 28 in this series. That means, the rest of the team was just that good.
Best offense vs best defense? Looks like the unstoppable force beats the immovable object.
I’d consider forgetting about wearing white when the Avs are around… when an avalanche occurs it’s definitely a white out
Jets definitely need to assess their coaching.
I enjoy this channel so much! Always logical and fair, and fun!
The talk about hellebuyck in the playoffs reminds me of the talk about georgiev throughout the entire regular season. both good goalies, obviously one better than the other but when they dont get the defensive support both look like seives in the statistics, its as simple as that
I think the Jets played hard, they were laying down ferocious hits, the Jets were scrappy every game, every period. Helly is an awesome goalie, we Avs fans were extremely nervous (I was for sure) about facing him in the play-offs. We (Avs) just have more offensive talent, I think it is as simple as that. Nothing for Jets or Jets fans to be ashamed of, I think the Jets are a very competitive, solid team. Could they tweak (as in trade for or pull up from the minors) a couple of different players and be better?...sure, but isn't that true of say 6, 7, 8 other NHL teams? It sucks to lose in the first round of play-offs, trust me, we (Avs fans) know that too.
Jets offense isn't that bad, but the difference in D-cores is staggering. Outside of Morrisey, I'm not sure I'd back any Jets defensemen to crack the Avs top 4 - maybe not even the entire defense. If they upgrade that in the off-season (and more importantly upgrading the coach), they'll have a shot at going a lot deeper in the playoffs.
@@chrisormie Upgrading from Bowness or from one of the assistants? Many Stars fans were ready for Bowness to retire...
Avs are scary especially if that top line really gets going. Miko had a rough series. If he gets going with all other lines buzzing idk who beats them in a 7 game series.
Rantanen had 9 points in 5 games?
Florida, Carolina or the rangers, maybe even Edmonton. You gotta remember the jets make goalies look good so georgiev probably isn't as good as he seemed in this series. Coming from a jets fan
Yea I know miko had points but he just didn't seem like himself missing scoring opportunities down low and had been frustrated with himself all series. Glad he had a hell of a night tonight we needed it just saying if he and the top line can keep it up they are really playing well unlike we did down the stretch to the playoffs. The avs don't need Georgiev to even be good he just needs to be average. If he lets in 3 goals or less I think the avs can outscore anyone else. Should be an exciting next series though.
@@Lukewipf442 and the jets were also the top defense in the playoffs, so do we believe skinner, who ever survives in carolina, and igor arent going to give up 3 every game?
@@Lukewipf442 this is exactly what people were saying in 22. "The Avs are great but they haven't played against a top goalie". That didn't age well as Vasilevskiy was lit up in the finals.
Avs coach doesn't get enough credit. Everyone wants to credit the players but if you actually pay attention, Bedsy is driving this team by excellent strategy, coaching, and motivation. Bedsys calm yet confident demeanor really makes a huge difference for the team
Hellebuyck had the worst goals saved above expected in first round with -5 so he didn't play well either
He also saved more than any goalie in the playoffs though.
I've always worried about goalies in the playoffs. Sometimes they just steal games. I no longer fear any goalies up against this Avalanche of an attack. I'm also used to worrying about our goalie as an Avs fan (injuries or quality), but even with Frankie retiring I think our team D is good enough to protect Georgie or Annunen. Very few teams can live with us at full speed, we're deep, we have skill/speed/strength/forecheck/pk/pp, full star power with Mack and Cale leading the charge, and a great coach who is able to make adjustments period to period and game to game. We may not win the cup - strange things always happen, you can't predict playoff hockey - but I'm super happy with this team and still hopeful to see Droiun, LOC, and possibly even Landy make an appearance. Lets go Avs!
Pouring one out for Yvonne today.
As an Avs fan, Helly is my favorite goalie, dude is good & fun to watch.

@@casewojo6186 Sorry what? The Jets supposedly have a top defense and yet let so many SOG and scoring chances. Hellebuyck had so much pressure on him and the Avalanche completely outplayed the Jets. I think this series is the best my Avalanche have looked all season. Excellent timing, boys.
A Vezina Trophy winner STANDS ON HIS Head in the Playoffs.
I'll give Hellebuyck a break here and compare him to McDavid. Both are superstars who probably deserve to win a cup, but both have been doing it on average to poor teams. EDM might have figured it out this year and finally have some D/Goalie help, but WPG still needs D upgrades and a much better coach.
Swap Georgie for Hellebuyck and I think the Avs are almost certs for the SCF.
28 goals in 5 games says a lot about Colorado against that defense and the Vezina winner.

Jets were simply outclassed. Avs look fantastic. Georgiev is playing consistent.
I gotta say, I'm really shocked at this series. I had Winnipeg going the farthest of the Canadian teams and I had this series picked as my "upset."
the one key thing I will remember from this series is when Namestnikov went down, Ball Arena went silent. Cheered when he got back up under his own power. Then when Parise went down at the Jets arena, the crowd cheered.
And now they can reflect on their bad behavior from the golf course (or more likely the trailer park) for the rest of the spring/summer. Stuff like that makes me happy when their team gets pumped and sent home early. Bad form and classless.
They also booed Makar after he went down injured, plus the whole "Pull your goalie". Things like that speak volumes to me.
@@chrisormie Was almost a repeat of the Kraken fans last year. Classless is the right word.
I think the bigger thing here isn't "Jets bad hurr hurr" but rather "Avs really damn good" Still don't know if I'm totally convinced on Georgiev, but it doesn't really matter when the team in front of him is this solid at snuffing out pretty much every decent chance and scoring as much as they can. Maybe Vegas/Dallas will be a bigger test for them, but this team is looking incredibly good so far. I shudder to think how my Oilers will fare against them if it comes to that. On another note, hey, Toronto isn't the first Canadian team out again 🙌 small wins
Oilers vs Avs would be epic.
I agree, kind of annoyed with all the media coverage being about the Jets and Hellybuck and not really giving the Avs credit. I think it was after game 3, every headline in the news on the app was about “x” team defeats “y” but the only one that didn’t have the winning team as the headline was the Avs. Said something like “Jets penalty trouble leads to loss” Edit: also I really hope we get another Avs/Oilers series, the way those two teams are this year, that could be an epic match up
Nobody expected Winnipeg to be the first Canadian team to be eliminated.
You are obviously not from Winnipeg.
Everyone in Colorado knew

Jericho is from Winnipeg
So for the second season in a row, the Jets are only good for one playoff game. On paper, this had the makings of the best series of the opening round. Unfortunately, the only thing the Jets have proven is they are not built for the playoffs.
Fans are so quick blame someone for all their troubles. All year the Avs fans have had a love hate relationship with Georgiev, depending on how he is performing. Which is to be expected but it is so nice to be able to tell the naysayers to sit down and shut up. I for one never expected the Avs to score so many goals on Hellebuyck, and I think they should be proud of their success. MacFarlane did a good job on getting some key additions to the team with Middlestadt, Walker, Trenin and Duhaime. Plus Parise has been another veteran to steer the team in the right direction. The only way things could be better is if Landy was healthy and in peak form (but no chance of course). Thanks for the wrap ups, I really have enjoyed your channel since I found it a couple of months ago. p.s. How in the world do you write on the whiteboard in such small letters and not smear it? Jericho is from Winnipeg and a Jets fan, I think that's why he was there. Most don't even know that his dad (Ted Irvine) played in the league for the Bruins, Kings, Blues, and Rangers
Bones also got outcoached
Thank you for defending Helle. Honestly.... Everyone complaining about him in this series clearly has no idea how the game is played. Was he fantastic? No. But how could he be? Theres 5 other players on the ice who need to fail before it ends up in the net. If we're being honest - the jets were AWFUL this series. They abandoned the defensive structure that got them to the playoffs for nearly the entirety of every single game. This was their best showing of the series and it still wasn't as good as they've historically been. The only 3 players who in my mind gave it their all these playoffs were Lowry, Morrisey, and yes - Helle. He made some incredible saves but when the team ahead of him is horrific what is he supposed to do?
Yes, but you'd expect a Vezina level goalie to make at least a few key saves when the defense in front of him breaks down. Maybe the only reason Hellebuyck looked good in the regular season was because the team in front of him was playing better.
@briangrover873 at least that's a measured comment and a logical question other than some "lol Hellesuck" or worse commentators. I do wonder if he was simply off his game for some reason
The difference in this series. The Jets defense let Hellebuyck down and after the first game the Avs defense built a wall around Georgiev. It's not all on Hellebuyck. Give the Avs offense some credit. Twenty-Eight goals in five games. For the playoffs, that's pretty amazing.
Glad the Avalanche asserted themselves in this series, especially after the kind of things people were saying about Winnipeg running away with it. I don't really care how far the Avalanche go at this point and I still don't see them as cup winners this year. Though they clearly have some fight in them so who knows, I'm just along for the ride.
Kept thinking all season about that Edmonton offense, but turns out the Avs were the boy she told us not to worry about

“Which goal was Hellebuyck supposed to save?” …all of them? That’s why he’s the GOALIE.
Georgiev let in 7, in game-1, because the Avs were weak on the defensive side. They tightened that up, real quick, with subtle adjustments. The Av's forwards were MIA the final 10 games of the season, but they returned (just in time), and with a vengeance. The Jets gave up 6 in game one, and (conversely) did NOT seem to make any defensive adjustments (probably because they won). Therefore, we had the same outcome in games 2 through 5. There were few weak goals this series; most all surgical shots, screens, tips or rebounds, at both ends. The Jets left Helly out to dry. Hell, Lowry even hung Helly out to dry in their joint presser earlier today, even contradicting some of Helly's answers to the media, which is not a good look for a team captain. Avs fan here.
The mitosis suggestion is interesting. Is there a rule against it?
Ah in my bracket I was really rooting for an all Canadian Conference final with Winnipeg and Edmonton/Vancouver
Avs flipped the switch. Bowness admitted it, Cogliano said it. I was surprised it worked, considering it failed in 1998 when Ozolinsh said it too.
I thought all year long the Jets were overachievers similar to the Wild last year so not surprised at this outcome.
Just two words for yuhs ... LETS GO COLORADO !
🤔 1 2 3 ........🤷
Outcome was a little suprising. The domination was certainly suprising.
Which team is more favourable for the avs? Dallas or Vegas?
Both tough imo. Dallas is built like a young Avs team from a few years ago and are in their cup window now, but Otter can be shaky. Their dump-first strategy leaves them vulnerable to counters with speed (which the Avs thrive on). Vegas is more physical and counters the Avs nicely in many ways, but I don't think they will do as much offensively. Overall, I'm happy for it to go to 7 and have the boys rest a few extra days. In a pinch I'd prefer the Stars as I think we have a better matchup there, but it's small margains.
@@chrisormie some say if we get vegas we get home advantage. Another thing to take into consideration I guess... I have Vegas in my bracket, but I also think Stars would be better for us.
@@chrisormie Dallas dumps way less than they did when Bowness was their coach, though. They score a lot of goals right after entering the zone.
