MalaMala Safari Moments: Episode 198.
- Hyenas come across a free meal and a feeding frenzy ensues.
- Baboons at dusk.
From MalaMala Game Reserve to wherever you are in the world, we'll bring you moments from our daily safaris in one of Africa's most iconic private game reserves. This is essentially a continuation of our 'Rangers in Isolation' series which was filmed during the national Lockdown.
Wondered how a dead impala gone unnoticed for that long.
So was I. Surely a leopard would have taken it up the tree if it made the kill. Bizarre
Set up?
Too tough. Tasted bad.
and what silly thing only eats the skin off it's ass and not the meaty leg ??
hide skin was torn off, got away from an attack earlier but died alone ,probably.
That hyena feeding was extraordinary. It is always special to come across such things and see their complex dynamics.
2:36 this guy here was like i'm getting my piece no matter what.
Its interesting how this strict ranking system works. All the hyenas bar one are cubs (not referring to the rival clan). The last cub (3rd ranked) that came in just before the rival gang arrived seems higher ranked than the adult (4th ranked), but likely lower ranked than the two cubs who fed throughout and kept on attacking it. These two could be belonging to the matriarch, and the fact that they were allowing the lower ranked adult to feast, but not the 3rd ranked cub could point to some good relationship they have with her.
amazing observational skills! that last cub was quite ferocious though. I think the way it got into the meals even when the bigger cubs dealt it blow after blow might suggest that the smaller cub may be an equally or above ranked one to the others. So the bigger ones kept it in check but didn't really harm her/him. I could be wrong though, it's just i've never seen a smaller/younger individual fight for meal that bravely unless they had great status.
Those 3 young Hyenas sure do fight don’t though @3:20
Just another day in the life of spotted hyenas lol
Wow, that was super interesting!
They can't stop fighting long enough to eat.
The whole impala was eaten in about 7 mins
@@moishe3591 could've been 2 minutes, without other clans showing up; if there was not constant bickering. I get it, that's their system. I'm just saying their system is stupid and brings way too much attention to the kill.
Not giving up😂😂😂
A decomposing/rotting Impala definitely smells like KFC or McDonalds to a Hyena.
Jesus they fight don’t they, you’d think they were rival clans
I saw a video of one biting a hole in the other ones penis because he wanted to be higher in the ranks. They are pretty much rivals for higher ranks all the time.
That was just mock fighting, more of a ritual than anything
honestly this makes me wonder what r we even filming lions for like this is so much more interesting not to mention unique there's no species similar to this, lions on the other hand u might as well be watching house cats. how that one hyena was down on his wrists to be lower and submissive ( 3:07 ) u don't see that kind of behavior in other species. they are different weird unique and interesting... their sounds sure r annoying tho haha
It didn't take long to be gone lol
GI doctor: "Don't swallow food" Hyena: "Nah bro!"

Young cubs of hyena queen
As beautiful and peaceful as it looks, I bet in this part of town it's safe to say that humans are not safe jogging or casually walking around.
Nothing gets waisted in nature
Humans trying to get toilet paper during the lockdowns.🥊
They're their own worst enemy 😢
Eats bone and all no wonder they don't find bodies in africa
People could learn from these beasts. They don't seem to care what others may think of them. Getting your fill is the only thing that matters. There are no silly games. Just to survive for another day of this. They probably have no illusions of decency or common courtesy. What a world.
Гиен не люблю, но фильм интересный 👍СПАСИБО! 👍
Icky thoses wild aminals are just mean but thats thats

That "free meal" looks like it was placed by YOU for footage. I hope you aren't out shooting prey for hyena and lions just for the views.
I think it was probably killed by a lion or leopard or some other predator (including other hyenas). A nature reserve would NEVER interfere with nature just for views for two reasons: 1: it would defeat the whole point of nature reserves 2: it would go against their "no interference" policy.
You are aware that wild animals die all the time right? From old age, injuries and illness. If they were doing what you claim, they would have tons of videos like this and they don't. Much more likely that they spotted the dead animal and sat there waiting for a predator to show up. The only time I've heard of humans providing meals is when it's an endangered species that's being released in a park. And even then, it's meat they buy for them and only in the beginning if they are struggling to hunt.
@@awright119021 If you want to believe they were on safari and just 'happened' across a dead animal in a clearing, that's fine. I'm less naïve. These tourist operators need to make sure their clients see a feeding if they want more business.
@@scottymackay1801 ok, then why doesn't this happen on every safari if they HAVE to show the people a feeding? They have workers that patrol through all areas of the park to attempt to keep poachers out and they communicate with each other. So they could easily see a carcass and say hey bring the safari group this way.
