As someone who has worked on cars and bikes for many years I can really appreciate the hundreds of hours you must of put in to complete this project. It's nice that its all wrapped up into a bitesize video but it doesn't do justice to all the preparation work you must of done especially with the bodywork. Well done fantastic job
Definitely second that! Truly a jack of all trades - not one thing he didn't do himself, and all to a really good standard too. Much respect 👏👍😎

Thank you for repairing the Starlet GT, which I rarely see running in Japan anymore. As a Japanese person who knew about those days, I appreciate
Still see them running around in New Zealand.

He probably dreads the phone ringing. "Hey mate i was wondering if you can give us a hand with something."
Most YT channels would have made that a 4 part series, at least. You put a lot of work time into one video, much appreciated.
Love all his builds they just come out so clean! Everyone! Would pay big bucks to have this guy do a restore for me
Man... ive seen plenty of youtube vids. But your single handed solo restorations are the best, the detail and effort, the skill and style. Hands down the best.
This brought back so many memories of when I had an AE86 20 years ago. I didn't give it nearly the restore job that you gave this Toyota, nor did I do all the work myself but I did a little bit of all this stuff. I learned a lot about cars and really loved that little car. Thanks for the memories.

Is the car in good shape or have you did the biggest sin and let it rust
@@themotoredfinnproductions4456 Ha! It was already rusty back in 2002. In all honesty I did a mediocre job on the rust repair but from a distance it looked great. I drove the hell out of that car and sold it back in 2009. Who knows where it is now. It's probably parted out and rusted out.
@@TC1Z2L3 Mine went on the wheel arches but the motor was bullit proof I sold mine with 137,000 miles on the clock still ran sweet as a nut, and that gearchange like a hot knife through butter.
My new favourite channel. No messing around with series, just a fascinating demonstration of skill and the love for classic fast cars.
Many points I’d like to make: 1) I love this channel as you’d never get these unknown hot hatches on mainstream American renovation channels. Very niche and why I love it 2) I really appreciate that they’re short videos and not spread out over 8 episodes with a load of babble over every little detail that many people don’t really care about. I just throw an episode on during my lunch with time to spare. Perfect balancing. 3) I’m very impressed how in good condition this Starlet was (excluding the rust hole on the boot). Keep up the good work 👍🏼
Very satisfying to see this. Didn't know there's a Turbo version. I had wanted to own a Starlet in the early 90s but couldn't afford one. Not even a used Starlet. This sure brings back memories. --Petaling Jaya, Malaysia
We have so many Starlet GT Turbo replicas here in Indonesia using half cut parts from Malaysia or Singapore.
yeah me too.. i've seen one but without turbo.to own an old toyota or honda second hand are quite expensive here in Malaysia if we looked into theirs and ours markets

This was a beautiful restoration. Much like his Civic Type-R vid, you can feel all the care and attention to all the details that went into this restoration. Didn't skip a single second of this from start to finish.
As a current 1990 Starlet GT Turbo owner. I truly appreciate your hard work. They are true gems. I love driving mine every time I take it out for a spin! Peace and Love
I've got to say, that is some excellent use of child labour. Well done! They're so much easier to squeeze into the nooks and crannies of a car than normal people.
“Than normal people” 😂😂
Wow wow wow. I remember the first time I got took out in one of these my mind was blown 🤯 I can’t believe you release the whole rebuild as one episode unlike the rest of the KZhead world where it’s an episode a week just to make more money. Mega respect for you honestly well done. Keep up the great work
Youre an idiot. Go back to your video games and stop bothering normal people please.
I test drove one at about 17yo and took my dad, i drove slow and said its a good car, i will get it, he insisted on having a drive, when we got back to the dealership he handed the keys back and just said no! To the dealer and no! to me lol and walked out. i also test drove a nissan pulsar gti-R and mazda familia gt-r they were all noped.
Massive nostalgia hit! I had one of these little beasts about 15 years ago. Gave the usual Td04, front-mount, piggyback ECU, more fuel, more timing and away we went. Absolutely ridiculous how fast those things are with not much work. Scared the living daylights out of people when they first went with me for a blast and it ate V8s alive.
Gotta say I love watching your process, and appreciated the simple methodology despite how thorough you are with the teardown and restoration. Honestly makes me want to learn more about vehicles in the hopes of being able to do some of my own maintenance some day, maybe.
hello friend. Nice to meet you. I'm from Indonesia, West Kalimantan, I like your videos

I don't know how this guy does not have more subscribers, you have one of the best car restoration channels on YT, thank you for the brilliant content
You are fearless! You’re turning parts cars into brand new beauties. Very good.
Man this brings back memories of mine. A facelift '95; rare with all factory extras and in near mint condition. One of the (if not) best cars i've owned. Was later stolen after i sold it by joyriders who had it for days and they couldn't blow it up, was recovered and put back on the road only needing a clutch and a few other bits. Unbelievable cars. Talk about value for money in the mid 00's. A legend. Japanese all the way.
I'm glad you got it back. My Mirage Mivec coupe was stolen back in 2009 and it vanished into parts I'm sure. White Oz rims, carbon bonnet and used to do most VTECs but EK9 Type Rs usually had it in the end 😂 Never went back to Japanese after that as everyone of my mates who had a nice import was losing there's. Who knows, may have passed you on the road at some stage. ;)
Had my '96 sportif for four years till 2021. Never any problems. Only trouble was the body work. Sometimes regret not getting it restored. Scrapped it and got a few quid for it, bought a Yaris. Exhaust broke off after a couple of weeks. Raked the Starlet as hard as I could the week before it was taken away. Couldn't break it. Still good for another 100k probably.
@@19grand my mate also went to a Yaris TS after his GT. Just loved the Toyotas and he also had a silver top Trueno. Miss that era of imports. :(
