Long Term Review | Royal Enfield Classic 350 | The Pure Essence of this Modern Classic Motorcycle.

2023 ж. 8 Там.
547 811 Рет қаралды

We've had the Royal Enfield Classic 350 for a few months, and in this final review video, The Ol' Man gives you his final conclusions and summary of this modern classic motorcycle, having lived with it for some time, and ridden it on all sorts of roads, from motorways (freeways) to country lanes, and even along a dirt track! This motorcycle is not owned by us, but has been kindly lent to us by Royal Enfield for a long-term review. It is going back soon and we will be swapping it with the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650!
We address the main concern people have expressed when considering this bike; namely power.
Engine, styling, design, seating position, observations, good points and bad.
Is this the motorbike for YOU? Hopefully this interesting summary will help you to decide.

With a clunky gearbox that makes all kinds of noise while shifting to the tappet noise from engine after 3 months of usage . This is nothing but a cheap quality machine

  • It's a Royal Enfield, designed to go on any road in India, which basically means it can go on any road in the world. Takes you back to a time when Firemen still wore brass helmets, police men wore pointy helmets, and milkmen delivered the milk in glass bottles. Charming, rugged and reliable. 👍

  • Bang on OM You've had it for more than just the usual once round the houses review . So we value your opinon highly. Just finished running my classic in . Purrs like a long stroke kitten. Im 6ft.1" and 13.5 stone (85 kg) find it spot on . Did 100 miles non stop around Suffolk the other day . 7 quid on fuel. Felt better and more comfortable than my previous Kawasaki Vulcan VN900 Custom Special Agreed if you want a performance bike dont touch these bikes with a barge pole But If you want relaxed riding with character and soul in your bike , in my opinion you cant get better than these little Enfield 350s. All at a bargain basement price, but not bargain basement quality . They are built better than many machines costing 3 times the price . Love the return to basic pure biking .

I ended up having a go on one and thought it felt great to ride. I did a load of research and ended up finding your channel and have watched each of your videos on this bike. I have now ordered one and its waiting for me when I get back to the UK in September.

  • I regularly do a 200 mile commute on my classic... she is FLAT OUT the whole way on motorways for 95% of the journey, sometimes bouncing off of the limiter.... and she doesn't care. Doesn't skip a beat. She just keeps on going, and she has been doing this for over and year and many thousands of miles... She also wanders down country lanes and people talk to me every time I park up. I've had fireblades, harleys, two stroke race reps, classic vespas, BMW tourers, off roaders and muscle bikes... but the Enfield has such a strong and well deserved place in my heart.

  • Before I bought my Classic 500, I had a 131 HP BMW. It had all the bells and whistles and was perfect. And that made it so unbelievably boring. So boring, that I lost all interest in riding at all. Then, on a whim, I bought the Classic 500. Instantly, my love for riding was back. She's far from perfect and vibrates a lot. But that makes her so much fun! Two years later I added a Kawasaki W800 to my collection. I love both bikes and ride them as much as I can. Hardly any electronics, just pure riding and they both take you anywhere. Totally in love 🙂

I raced everything from 125 to superbikes so as to your question of is 20 horsepower enough.. Well let me tell you that it is. I have the 350 Supernova which share the same engine and now as a 58 year old man I simply couldn't be arsed doing 4 million mph now.. I just love farting about the back roads hearing the charming little engine banging it's heart out.. My adrenaline gland has been rung dry and I'm quite happy about that😂😂

  • I've followed closely your interactions with the Royal Enfield Classic 350 because I was convinced it was the "exploration tool" that I wanted. I had test rode the Triumph Bonneville and Street Twin, motorcycles that I've coveted for a long time, and just had to acknowledge it was not the understated machine I was after. My plans to purchase a Classic 350 was interrupted by serendipity when the mechanic doing the annual safety inspection of the Himalayan told me she was selling her 2001 Kawasaki W650. That bike was exactly what I was after in terms of ride, simplicity, styling, and understated power. Something I'm certain from your descriptions the Classic 350 would deliver. So after a few miles of test ride the W650 was bought. It seems a close cousin of the 350 with just a bit more power. I love your reviews. Thank you for sharing them. I hope the warmer weather of Spain doesn't adversely affect your creative leanings!

  • I've had mine since April and it's excellent 👍. Coming from a T100 I was prepared to be underwhelmed but was extremely surprised. Plenty of comfy space for a pillion (we ride two-up 90% of the time). Certainly in the UK where there's a war on the motorist - it's perfect. We enjoy 40/50/60 mph these days and it's such an easy bike to ride that you get to enjoy the scenery. Some have said it's "dangerously slow" which is a ridiculous statement as it keeps up with most traffic, most of the time. Obviously there are occasions where I'd normally go for an overtake but you have to pick your fights a bit more intelligently. £52 road tax, £100 insurance and 100 mpg it's cheap to run. Meant to be easy to work on, diy servicing is simple (tappets are screwdriver and locknut). Service intervals are 6000 miles (or annually) after the first 300 like service 😊

  • Had mine for a summer now and I really like it. It's perfect for the day trips without a destination. Mostly I use it to roam around the small roads, both tarmac and gravel, where 80km/h is about as fast as you'd like to go anyway. Small, easy to maneuver, reasonable clearance, an engine that just won't cut out even if you get close to 0rpm, maintenance that can be easily sorted at home without special equipment, cheap extra, extremely good looks, etc.... It is a bike that becomes what you make it into. As long as you can accept it's not a speed demon, you WILL love this bike.

It may not be the fastest motorcycle, but it can still achieve a very reasonable average speed with excellent range, good mobility and passability. I love to try new foods, and usually enjoy them. My favorite and will never sell my 350 classic. My Triumph 1200 thruxton r didn't get as much attention!! That bike has such a clunky gearbox, so much so going into first I used to cringe same into 3rd. That little Enfield is so well made , old school technology and amazing paint finish. Don't knock it till you try it! Great review as always. Last thoughts! Ask yourself what you use your bike for, if you only do one or two long trips a year do you need that big heavy GS. Every day transport or trip round the lanes stopping at the pub for one or popping to the shop with your panniers this little bike provides more smile's per gallon. 😊👌

  • My dad had a similar mini Bullet in non metallic color, back in the 90’s when I was still in my early teens, which he had bought with his first paycheck back in ‘75, when he was a young gun and that mini Bullet was my first bike too. It was called a Crusader, it was a 175cc single pod and it has been long discontinued (probably from the early 90’s onwards). Yeah so Bullets are built like a tank, they’ve served in the Indian military, special forces, coast guard, border security force and in the police force of all the states in India and for multiple decades. No wonder it’s been upgraded to withstand most types of terrain. It’s an easy going commuter bike with an exhaust note that sounds like heartbeat, especially when someone’s in love.

  • my dad had this when i was 3 year old,...i used to ride this as a 11 year old kid,.. even school kids can ride this,.. suggest you to fix mud guard flaps,... made of rubber sheets/ you could cut small rubber rectangles from car tubes/ any thick rubber sheets,.. fix on mudguards,... so water, mud does not splash under the engines,... riders legs, shoes. from the rear wheel , to the rider's rear,... on wet roads,.

  • Have mine (red/chrome) for two weeks now and I can honestly say I'm completely in love with it. There is something magical about the looks of this bike, and like you said in the beginning of the video, it's a bike for "take your time getting there" people. Its natural habitat are the back roads, 50km/h is the speed, and the soundtrack is nothing more than the wind and the "thump" of the engine.

  • The thing is, really, with a royal Enfield "not managing more than 60 mph" is that 60 mph is nearly a 100 kph (it's 96 to be exact). You're never going to get _near_ that on an Indian road, ever. Either the road is too bumpy, or there's too much traffic, or it's both.

  • It makes a cracking touring bike as well. I've just done 650 miles on it this week. I went from Edinburgh to Waternish on the Isle of Skye, then across the width of Scotland to Montrose, then home again. It took everything and every road in its stride. I'll be posting up some videos of my journey very soon. 👍

  • in my life I have had powerful motorbikes, such as Yamaha R1, Kawasaki 900, Ducati, then I stopped for a few years, I thought about returning to the world of two wheels and starting again with a quiet motorbike, I bought myself a Meteor 350, and I really amused, then I thought about increasing the displacement, and I bought a super meteor 650, you won't believe me, but I returned it the next day, and I got my Meteor 350 back, this engine has something magical, racing no longer makes sense for me, watching the views exploring those mountain roads, with the meteor or the classic, you can do it without risking too much, now I'm thinking of taking the Classic 350 too, I really like its style, I wanted to congratulate you on your video, your Classic is splendid!

  • My old AJS has about 20 HP and it os enough for 95%+ of what I want to do. You were exactly right about knowing what sort of rider you are, just as you were right about design taking account of what the machine is intended to do (something which has been neglected too often during the last 50 years). Good, balanced review.
