The South St Vrain is one of 3 tributaries to St. Vrain Creek. All 3 tributaries as well as the main stream offer good trout fishing. Colorado 7 parallels the South St. Vrain for 10 miles and provides abundant public fishing access. There is a trail which follows the stream to its headwaters but the water there looked too small for good fishing. I recommend fishing a bit later in the summer, perhaps August or September, as the high gradient tends to create strong currents when the water is high.
