@@DLR300 u seen the state of people these days?? How on earth they can laugh is amazing! Maybe they're pretending!
What a good sport Magnus was and a true professional being able to keep a straight face with those two.
I thought being able to keep a straight face was something special. Agree 100% with that mate. Great minds in this tiny part of time in watching this and reading to replying to comments. Brains are amazing.
Yes. Absolutely. Same goes for André Preview. Incidentally, for the rest of André Previn’s life, every time he climbed into the back of a London taxi, the driver would say to him, “hello MrPreview” To which he would answer, “Privet!”
We don't know if he managed to keep a straight face during the takes of this scene
Correct. Put another one on.
They were the best offtv
The two Ronnie's and Eric and Ernie truly pure gold genius
comic genius , they worked out how to have a duo with TWO funny men.
Not sure about the two Ronnies tbh. Ronnie Barker just played with words and tongue twisters.
Totally Agreed. My ultimate comedy 70's. Porridge!
Did you notice the total lack of swear words and knob jokes , absolute legends .
@@eddieingalls534 Absolute utter rubbish. You obviously never watched the four candles sketch . . . .
Do you know how I know this is timeless comedy? My seven year old son was giggling like crazy whenever Eric would talk with Ernie and slap his face or they would do a dance.
It's only in my mid fifties I have come to appreciate how brilliant these two chaps were. Proper comedy, with no swearing
... proper comedy, with no swearing.
Absolutely Brilliant. Eric and Ernie were geniuses. Nobody does it like those two. RIP guys, we miss you.
The Two Ronnies were just as good a duo. Sadly all of them are gone now.
Sadly we will never anything like this again thanks for the memories
"Mr McManus, I'll never watch you wrestle again!" Brilliant.
Ah. You have to be old enough to remember Mick McManus!

The writers for Eric and Ernie were fabulous as well. There was a real pool of talent in those days. Classic comedy !
Barry Cryer for one.
Eddie Braben for another...
No-one will ever equal the comedy genius of Morecambe and Wise, just no-one !
Laurel and Hardy?
How can anyone not like that skit? That was awesome !!! I could watch these 2 gentlemen all day long
It always impressed me how Morecambe and Wise were able to get such big names to appear on their shows, including such luminaries as the classical conductor Andre Previn. It just shows what high regard they were held with.
You mean Andrew Preview 😂
All the right notes, just in the wrong order!
It was an honour to appear on Morecambe and Wise
Held in - and that's grammatically incorrect! One does not end a sentence with a conjunction! 2 points to me.

Superb and gentle humour. However let’s not give all the praise to utterly brilliant acting, the cleverness of the writing is of equal quality.
I totally agree with you 👍 💯
Eric's facial expressions are a comic master class
You need to see the Brexit party candidate and his facial expressions when Corbyn gave his speech after losing spectacularly in the December election.
yeah eric had a writer for his dialogue but his improvisational skills were superb as was his timing, delivery and, like you said, facial expressions.
Yes you are right, and I must add only a British comic could do this 👏👏👏👏 Great Britain has such amazing comic Geniuses with amazing timing, Cooper, Benny hill, morecambe and Wise, two Ronnies, do you know I could go on all night, you know who they are 👏👏👏👏 British humour you just can’t beat it 🇬🇧
THE LATE GREAT ERIC & ERNIE , THEY WILL NEVER BE IMITATED , NO MATTER HOW GOOD OTHERS THINK THEY CAN COPY , TWO GENIUS MEN , NEVER FORGOTTEN
Almost 50yrs old and still good. For those of us of a certain age, the final question was telegraphed but still funny. Thanks for the upload.
Morecambe and Wise and The Two Ronnies. Amazing times
Back when British comedic talents *actually* had talent.
Yeah from a Aussie British humour was at its best...you can add in Hale an Pace to
As most of us did, I grew up watching these two comedians quite regularly... M & W brought us some brilliant and silly sketches of our generation. May you two comics bring the house down wherever you go... Respect.👍
So funny, miss them very much. True comic geniuses. I'm 57 and can remember this one as if it was only y'day.
These two make me smile every time, great memories of the whole family laughing at their shows. No one like them today. Classic.
Eric was an absolute god of the comedy scene. I was born in 1973 and spent the first decade of my life watching everything I could of his. Got it all on DVD now 😁
Over four million views. A couple of hundred are mine and I've still got tears of laughter rolling down my cheeks. Thank you boys.
Brilliant comedy from two of the best comedians the Nation has produced.Never to be forgotten 👍
This is just brilliant television. The best comedy double act of all time.
Actually Laurel and Hardy were. But these two were awesome alongside The Two Ronnies.
Absolutely brilliant, it was all about timing with these two and in this sketch it was perfect.
Sitting dow (or laying on the floor for me) watching saturday night television during the 70's..... Morecambe and Wise, Two Ronnie's, Dick Emery and Parkinson.....I was 7 years old when this was first aired , if I remember correctly we had not long just had the third power cut of the weekend and christmas was looming....radio times was the must have guide....bloody hell I am old.
First time i ever watched this sketch, i nearly spat laughing when Eric said "but what is a cardigan made of?, and do we not get wool from sheep?"
Eric and Ernie were fantastic.👍👍
Morecambe and Wise still make me laugh, they will never be bettered
They were bettered by the Two Ronnies
Don't think you can say bettered!

And the Shirley Bassey boot scene, and the news readers “There ain’t nothing like a dame” routine-pure genius.
Real talent, thank god I grew up in the 70s.
Cough - 'Arsenal!' Forty-odd years on and it still creases me.
Can you explain this joke to me

As always, perfect timing and delivery from eric but also faultless back up from ernie..superb sketch.I think what always came across with these two was the love and respect for each other as well as the joint ambition to make each sketch as good as it could possibly be ,regardless of who got the funny lines.Thankyou for sharing this with us,Ratpackmanreturns, as you say ABSOLUTE CLASS !!!!!!
I'm 32, African born from Fulham. my go-to for comedy's will always be the golden oldies, porridge /only fools /Morecombe & wise / 2 ronnies / rab c / on the buses /. modern telly's gone all wrong 😕

Mind you "curry and chips" was pretty bad. "Love thy neighbour" was also quite dodgy.
I got banned from a comedy club in Edinburgh for being racist. All I did was walk onstage and say "thank you ladies and gentlemen it's great to be back in England". Everybody else in Scotland gets the joke. lol
Couldn't agree more. Thanks for posting, haven't seen this for years. Absolute classic. " Maximum 10 points" "I thought I would" Brilliant.
I remember seeing this when it was first shown. I nearly shocked laughing. british tv at the time was in a golden age with regard comedy and this act sat at the top with the two ronnie's.
Only had to look at eric Morecambe and I'd laugh he was fantastic. Ernie wise the perfect straight man👍👍😂😂
LOL! Love the questions... Even though they are supposed to be general knowledge questions, they are all themed towards their level of education! 😅 Ernie, being Professor of English literature is asked questions all relating to literature, Eric on the other hand, being educated at Infants School - his first question is about a nursery rhyme! 😂
Brilliant no shock or controversial swearing just fools old fashioned comedy these guys were genius!!
I remember when Magnus announced his retirement .. it hit all the headlines .. Magnus was an institution!! I used to sit and watch the show .. and if i got 5 answers correct .. i was really chuffed :):):)
This never gets old! Brilliant!
What was impressive was the huge variety of guests who Morecambe and Wise got to take part in their sketches.
Interesting, too, that it was then still quite a novelty for famous celebrities to take part in such shows and be gently sent up. Andre Previn, Des O'Connor, Angela Rippon etc.
@@londonspeedway surely you mean André Preview?
Bloody Brilliant! I tried to explain to my niece a few years ago how crap TV is today with zero real comedy shows and so called reality shows replacing everything... This was entertainment at its finest...
+Alan Bland If you're wondering like a lot of people were the "Arsenal" came from, this from Wiki... Some catch phrases developed from earlier sketches. When Eric played an incompetent 'Mr Memory', unable to remember anything without unsubtle prompting from Ernie, Ernie prompted Eric with "Arsenal!" disguised very badly as a cough. Later, whenever Ernie, or anyone else, coughed or sneezed, Eric would shout "Arsenal!"
+Alan Bland Ahhh! And I thought he was calling him and "arsehole" for interfering with a cough, but just pronounced it similar to Arsenal!
your comment's just about as tasteless as your name.
Correct--that's another 10 points to you.
Zero comedy shows? Lol okay.
I thought I'd seen everything from Morecambe and Wise but I can honestly say I've never seen this before. Brilliant!!!

You wont have seen everything from them unless "Running wild" turns up again xxx
Brilliant ... Magnus Magnuson misidentified - @ 5:34 "Mr McManus I'll never watch you wrestle again" ... Mr (Mick) McManus was a British professional wrestler of the time :-)
Christmas just isn't the same without Morecambe and wise on TV...
Just another masterclass of classic british humour from two of the best!
Out of the many many times I've seen this sketch over the years, I never noticed the final genius line before. "Mr McManus, I'll never watch you wrestle again!"
These two still make me laugh! Comedy at its best!
"This isn't a bingo hall, is it Sir?"Too right"..... OMG!!!! As an American who loves British humor, this is brilliant. I only discovered them after laughing hysterically at the Beatles Anthology.
Watch the Two Ronnies sketch on Mastermind. Its better.
British humour has all of its vowels. ;-)
Guy Turchiano "Only got a little dad, have you?" ;)
@TheLyingTruthTeller LOL... if Morecombe and Wise's slapstick sight gags are more your thing then thats fine..It wears thin very fast IMO. In this sketch for instance Morecombe repeats the same joke over and over again. The Two Ronnie's version of Mastermind is pure genius. Now that was my "subjective" opinion.Good God, Dont get your panties in a twist over it. Jeeez.
