Disney and Pixar's #InsideOut2 is coming to theaters June 2024 with brand new emotions!
The little voices inside Riley’s head know her inside and out-but next summer, everything changes when Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” introduces a new Emotion: Anxiety. According to director Kelsey Mann, the new character promises to stir things up within headquarters. “Anxiety, voiced by Maya Hawke, might be new to the crew, but she’s not really the type to take a back seat,” said Mann. “That makes a lot of sense if you think about it in terms of what goes on inside all our minds.” A trailer, poster and film stills are now available for what promises to be the feel-good (or feel-everything) film of Summer 2024.
Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone. Maya Hawke lends her voice to Anxiety, alongside Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, Tony Hale as Fear, and Liza Lapira as Disgust. Directed by Kelsey Mann and produced by Mark Nielsen, “Inside Out 2” releases only in theaters Summer 2024.

I knew anxiety would become the antagonist.
I mean it is a disorder which is a bad thing, same as boredom and embarassment

@@johanstenfelt1206 maybe it's because when you are a adult u wouldn't get scared easily anymore and u can face the problems ur afraid of although Riley's parents still have fear but it doesn't look like it's being used a little bit.
Anxiety, Envy, Ennui & Embarrassment are realistically relatable emotions when we’re all teenagers. Edit: Also the fact they literally bottled up Joy and the others is something that is also scarily relatable because we have a hard time expressing those emotions (well except maybe for Anger and Disgust) at that age.
Depends on the individual teenager, I had no problem expressing joy, even if people thought I was weird haha 😊

Interesting. I don't think I ever really repressed any of my emotions. I was always told to be straightforward, saw on TV things going wrong when it didn't happen, so I just was. Guys, it had to be my parents to explain to me the whole concept surrounding a teen expressing affection towards others. Plus, the class colleagues I had through out the years were actually nice and welcoming people for the most part, so that migt have helped too, along with me being an introvert. I feel all of these. And I think they're valid. Even back at high school, I felt like that.
I’ve suppressed a lot of emotions and was mostly Ennui during my Teenage phase. Ennui must’ve been the one in “control” during that time lol.

@jacobmorgan7203 probably anxiety due to moving to high-school I mean that is one of the anxious things to happen when moving from finishing on school then movie to an even bigger school for the continued learning. I experienced anxiety moving from primary school to secondary school and to this day one of my main emotions is anxiety

While the first movie only had Joy and Sadness having to maneuver through the inner workings of Riley’s mind, at least the sequel now has the five main emotions together on this adventure!
While also knowing what can happen if Riley doesn’t have all of her Emotions present and working together, giving them some extra motivation, not that they needed it, but still.
Prediction: The behaviors of the older emotions cause Anxiety to go into a panic state, triggering the new emotions' villain arc.

@@Ronin.Samuraias well as moving to high school as those years can start to form those new emotions shown in the film, anxiety for moving into a new environment such as high school, envy because their are groups filled with people that have things you envy especially if it's a part of their body such as hair as shown in the trailer with Envy being envious of someone's hair, be it hair of Disgust or one of the high schoolers, embarrassment for whatever will embarrass a high schooler and as for boredom, you could just have the whole high school be a huge boredom or maybe you find a class or two to be boring

It would be nice if they "resurrected" Bing Bong. Thus the only death in the first movie would be canceled and there would be no "need" for a death in this second one. More than anything, because I wouldn't want them to do as in all duologies, which put at least one death (complete with last words) in the first movie and none in the second. Although they could make Gloom and have him die, leaving Bing Bong dead. Maybe. But, in any case, if they bring Gloom back too, I hope he won't be the main antagonist again and will have a similar story to Kro in 'Eternals'. Either way, though, I'd prefer they resurrect Bing Bong. I know, it's stupid, but I had to say it.
I was hoping Bing Bong would come back Embarrass looks quite different from an elephant now that I see him. with his nose he reminds me of Inspector Grub, Razoff and the teensies from the Rayman franchise

Finally Disney decided to get it together and not screw this up, at least they're finally making better movies and focusing on children and family.
Sadness took a liking to Embarrassment quite quickly. Maybe because he's the closest emotion to her or something?
I’ll say this did give us a pretty good idea of what we could expect from this Movie, So, they decided to go with the “New Emotions trying to take over for all of the Old Emotions” Route, sort of? I am pretty certain that some people have theorized about that being the case, at some point. Anyway, I am also pretty certain that this Plot could be viewed as being pretty similar to the Plot of the First Movie, at least on a surface level, but I’d say the finer details beneath have enough differences to make it work, Like for example: Rather than just having two Emotions having to go on an adventure through out Riley’s mind, we now have all Five of the Original Emotions having to go on a journey, two of which who have experience in going through the Place, while the other Three probably doesn’t, a fact that could potentially lead into some pretty interesting and funny experiences on it’s own. Also, the reason why the Emotions even ended up in the situation that they were in in the First Movie was entirely due to a freak accident, while here it’s due too the New more inexperienced Emotions trying take over by pretty much overthrowing the Old Emotions, bottling them up somewhere. On top of that, in the First Movie we just had the original core Emotions getting split up, with two out in the World and three remaining at the Center, now we have entirely New Emotions trying to run the Center by themselves, where we could see how well that goes and whether or not they realize that they’ve made a great mistake, Although, I say the New Emotions and they, but wouldn’t it be funny if Ennui was the only one out of New Emotions who figured(/knew) that kicking out the Old more experienced Emotions might be a bad idea, but didn’t say anything due to how unmotivated they seem to be? Heck, even the motivations and the reasoning behind said motivations I’d say is a bit different from the First Movie too, In the First Film, the Emotions at Brain-Center pretty much just tried to run things by themselves because they didn’t know what else to do and the Emotions outside just wanted to go back because they just naturally knew they needed to, While in this Film on the other hand, the Emotions at the Brain-Center tries to run things by themselves because they think they know how to handle a Teenage Riley better and the Emotions outside wants to go back pretty much for same reasons as in the First, but with an added bonus, ‘Cause I think the New Emotions might not know everything that happened before their arrival, so they wouldn’t know that something similar to what they’ve done has happened before, But the Old Emotions knows, they have experienced just how bad things can go when Riley doesn’t have all of her Emotions present and working together, so they will not try to get back just because they feel like they have to, but also because they know what could happen if they don’t. So, all in all, while the Plot is pretty simple, I’ve heard that even a pretty Simple Plot, that might even redo something similar to it’s predecessor, can still turn out quite good, as long as it’s been done well enough, I hope this Movie still does good despite it all. Now, the only Question left is, how will everything be lined up in this Movie? When will every moment happen and in what order will it happen? What do you think?
I can see that, have Joy and Sadness be the guide for Anger, Disgust and Fear since those two have experience in travelling through Riley's mind with hijinks, gotta have some hijinks, some sad moments too and then we cut to the New Emotions and see them struggle which will have the Old Emotions return to the emotion tower and decide that just like in the first film to work together to include every emotion since if we discarded one emotion away forever similar to how in the first film Joy wanted no part of Sadness because she thought Sadness wasn't vital but realised that humans need to feel sad, so the 5 old Emotions will include those new emotions and Joy will tell them of her previous experiences and tell them that Riley needs to have every emotion to work together and if an emotion needs to take over at a certain point in a human then they can as long as that emotion will back away for another emotion to take over. Let's say for example, Anxiety saw a moment in Riley's life that needs Anxiety to take control like at a start of some huge game or anything Riley decides to take up, Anxiety sees Joy and backs off letting Joy take over and we see Riley excited and enjoy herself. I mean we all experiences each of these emotions, some of us feel certain emotions are heightened, for me I fell all of these but one's that are heightened for me are usually Anxiety, Sadness and Anger but those emotions do take a back seat and allow my other emotions take control like Joy. Sorry if the first part of my comment is a huge story

So basically Joy and Sadness are trying to get back to headquarters but with anger fear and disgust this time
It seems that anxiety is the villain in all this and they will make it clear at the end of the movie.
Glad to see Disney still carry on the old Traditional Villians Trope and not return to Twist Villains. I hope they keep this up along with Moana 2 in some way. Like maybe a new female villain who wants to punish humanity because she blames their insatiable hunger for Maui's gifts that lead to his imprisonment on the island after he stole Tifiti's heart to try and give them the power of creation as the two were in a relationship before the the events of the first movie and now she wants to steal the heart again in order to destroy it and put an end to all creation, once and for all! And she gets to have a song too! Like a reverse, darker version of Maui's "You're Welcome" lamenting how humans are never satisfied with anything the gods do for them and deserve everything that's comming to them and that maybe after she destroys the old world, she can create a new version of humanity that IS grateful. Something like "Nothing's ever good enough!" Or "It's always the same!"
