Hey Taylor - this post is coming from a 70-year-old, old-school, old-fashioned gal who says, "Good for you guys, and don't let anyone pressure you" about finding out the sex of your baby. In my opinion the miracle of birth is made all the more precious when you hear those words at delivery. You are on the verge of an incredible journey!
Hey Taylor, congrats! Not sure if you've thought of this but when our first kiddo was born we took his hat that the hospital put on him right after the birth. After they cleaned him up, they give him a new hat. Anyway, we brought that first hat home and gave it to our dog to smell and she took it put the hat in her bed and slept with it until we brought the baby home. She was very gentle and sweet when she got to meet him and they were besties for many years. Wishing you the best. Yay for your family!
A breastfeeding mom is a portable kitchen. I took my babies everywhere. Camping, road trips, anywhere I wanted to go that I could assure was safe, I went. Benton and Emma are wonderfully strong names that have strong ties to the trail. Good luck!
We have 4 kids and we never learned the gender until delivery! 18 years later I can still hear the Doctor say "IT'S A GIRL!" after already having 3 boys. Thank you for doing it right!
Can't believe you are not going to Tim the Tool Man show for a name inspiration. Congratulation to you and your husband for your first child.
Car camping for Labor Day should be totally doable. Both my boys we took at 6 weeks old for car camping as the first trip. I think it is very wise that you are not set on any expectations for what life after baby comes will look like, what ever you decide is the best way to enjoy the outdoors with your family is what will be best for you and it will be magical whatever you choose to do. Congratulations, motherhood is truly the best adventure!
Congratulations! You make being pregnant look easy. I'm glad you waited to announce your pregnancy because now we don't have as long to wait for baby! So excited for you guys.
Congratulations! Wishing you a healthy pregnancy & baby. 😊
I can relate to the out of breath already! Well, I can't, but Steph can. Excited to get outdoor baby advice from you!
Congrats Taylor! I didn't find out with my pregnancy either -- I had a baby boy in 2021! It was so fun finding out during delivery and my husband got to announce it to the room.
You have been and will continue to get lots of advice. Mine is to just say congratulations. Pray you have a healthy baby, enjoy and provide the baby with love, patience, laughter, and let your common sense and instincts kick in when needed. No one kisses or touches the babby until after 4 months on the face. Keep hands washed. Most of all, listen to your mom. Seriously, she did a phenomenal job raising you. You and her are lovely together, carry that on and you won't go wrong. ❤😊 again congratulations to you, Chet and Cali
Parenting is basically just trying to constantly figure things out. Once you think you have it, things change, children grow, and you start all over again. Staying active is going to serve you well through the remainder of your pregnancy and beyond. Congratulations!
so exciting!! Happy for you!

Congratulations❤️ and thank you for sharing. Wishing you all the best.
Congratulations, so happy for you! Exciting times ahead for you and your husband. And definitely, don't let it stop you hiking or camping. Taken the child along and set down an athletic environment in the child's life. They will come to love it in their lives, cause I bet hiking will be in their DNA :) . Love and hugs always!
Im a dad, started following you when my son was on his AT adventure, just to see through your eyes what he was experiencing. Thank you. Im so happy for you guys and your Baby!
Congratulations to you and your husband 💙
Wow!!! Great news Taylor!!! What a blessing. Having a child will change your life in the best way possible. Enjoy every minute's as time will pass so fast. So happy for you!!!
I waited until delivery to find out for my kids. Glad I did.😊❤
Congratulations to you and your whole family on the new baby. I’m happy to see you aren’t finding out what you’re having. There are so few surprises in life. This will be one of the best. Be well!
Congratulations; you're going to be a great mother!
Excited for you, hope everything continues to go well with you through the rest of pregnancy and delivery, and that baby is healthy and happy. ❤️ As far as the kiddo hiking with you, there’s a good chance that they’ll do whatever you do until they get into preteen-teens as long as you keep their limits and needs in mind (which I’m sure you will 🥰🥰)
My daughter and I will do lots of hiking for you and baby Nahamsha this summer!
I had stepped away from you tube for a bit. I am just seeing this now. Congratulations!!!!! You are going to be a great mom!!
EPIC AWESOMENESS!! Congratulations to you and your hubby!! I predict Baby Nahamsha will be the outdoorsy type.... 💕🍼👶🥾🥾
Congratulations, Taylor! So happy for you! I wish you and your little one all the very best!
Congratulations! Hiking seems to be a great incentive for making babies!
Good for you it will be a great surprise! I didn’t know what I was having either and it was wonderful! Congratulations!
So happy for you both!! You look great. I thought you might be expecting at the end of your AT hike last year when the weather was so tough. As a Dee Dee to 4, I know how the grands feel, too.. Got 'cha in my thoughts and prayers. Friends hike with their littles. You have this!!
Just getting around to saying Congratulations, Nahamsha!!!! 👶
You seem to have a great support system in your family. You will be a great mother!
Awe congrats! You sound like you have your head on your shoulders knowing that it's difficult to plan for something this major. Glad to hear you'll still be hiking.
When you said AT inspired names the first thing that popped into my head was Charlies Bunyon.🤣. Best of luck on your newest life endeavour
Ok as a mom of 4 I’m going to give you my 2 cents. All you need for the early days is a nice soft carrier like a Tula! Then you can back carry once they are sitting up. I use mine until my littles are too heavy to carry. So like age 4. Such an exciting time for your growing family! The newborn days are an adjustment but enjoy the snuggles and take it one day at a time. Don’t feel like you owe social media anything when it comes to sharing child related news! The internet is a crazy place.
Congratulations. Very excited to you and your husband. Our first hike with AZ Eagle was at 3 months in the Adirondacks. We stayed in the lodge and hiked in the snow during the day. There are great pictures of him in a backpack hiking in the Grand Canyon. We returned and he spent time on Mr. Rook's shoulders. We had a feeling during last year's AT hike that maybe a little one is in the future. Very happy to meet you during our hike on the AT.
We didn't find out either and it was so much fun :)
So excited for you. Cool that you and Dixie are both pregnant - hope you hiking ladies can connect some way. Best wishes and look forward to all of your upcoming videos!
Congratulations and I hope you and your partner enjoy a wonderful and abundant pregnancy. On the baby hiking gear, we adored our Deuter Kid Comfort Pro. Well built and comfortable for the kid.
Many congratulations to you and your husband wow what wonderful news
I’m 60 now and still love to hike the AT. I started section hiking as a kid in Girl Scouts! My youngest daughter and I decided we’d hike the AT together and we began in earnest when she was 17. We have such wonderful memories of each trip, and love, love, love, to reminisce. We head out on another section next month along with her new husband who I introduced to backpacking a few years ago. I fully expect to hike with their future children someday as well. So excited for you, and your husband as you embark on your new, wondrous journey. 😊
I didn't find out with my first two and I felt it really helped me get through my (very difficult) deliveries. Couldn't wait to find out!!!
I've hiked with both front carrier size and backpack size children. Go with how you feel and what you are comfortable with. I've also done tons of camping with my kids. Pack and plays were great for car camping. Congratulations!!!
Best wishes! Your mothering instincts to wait and meet your child are spot on. You never know what fascinating interests they will bring to your life. Your child will influence you as much as you influence your child. There’s lots of time to do and explore in many different ways. Humans are designed to have many interests! Be safe and healthy and all the rest falls into place.
That's the carrier I have too. I love it. Baby needs to be able to sit up on their own before going in it which, like you said, is around 6 months. I am on my second baby in the carrier and its one of my favorite things. There is something so wholesome and pure about carrying your baby on your back for hikes. Congratulations. It's life changing.
How exciting! I hiked my whole pregnancy and after… if your body is use to it and you listen to your body, you should be able. To this day trail is so healing and the place we go to for adventure and talk❤❤❤
Congratulations
Congratulations. How exciting. 👣🌻
I bought an older version of the poco 7 or so years ago. It's an awesome bag! You can get them in pretty young because of all the straps to hold the baby in.
So happy for you and Chet!! Hoping the rest of your pregnancy and delivery goes super smoothly✨🤞🍀🙏💙!! And yes ..third trimester heartburn is next level😭Towards the end of my pregnancy, I pretty much would daydream about the next tums I could safely take until it was time to have it😆
All of this...quite brilliant!! 🥾🌄👶🙌
Omg heartburn for me was the worst, lol. I’m going out in a limb and saying “boy” just because you are carrying very much like me, all in front. Excited to find out when the time comes. I’ve seen so many little babies on trails. You’ll be out there when you feel it’s the right time. Happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
Congratulations 🎉
So excited for you and thank you for continuing to share your journey! I remember wondering when you ended your hike if you might be pregnant😊. Also, I’m gonna hint to my kids about the monopoly for Mother’s Day!
You're going to be a great Mom. 😊 The kid will more likely want to hike because you love hiking (and he/she loves you) than because you want it to, so your attitude is wonderful.
Thank you for sharing.
😊 I'm so happy for you, Taylor. I think the kid will be born with trekking poles in hand.😂 We love you Nahamsha, take care! ✌️
Whoo hoo! Congratulations! So excited for you and your husband! Also fun that you are waiting until the baby is born to find out if it is a boy or a girl! 👏👏👏👍👍👍
I bought shockz headphones based on your recommendation and I love them! Thanks. Congrat on the baby. Wish I were going to trail days. Did last year, but work and budget won’t allow. I’m from CA so it’s a bit of a trek so so speak.
Congratulations!! And good for you not sharing this exciting news until when you did - you and your family deserve privacy and I caution you with sharing the baby on social media -sure talk about him/her but try and keep their face off-- there are any crazy people in the world. The very best as you move through this wonderful time in your life . I have been following you since your first hike.
Congratulations Taylor!! My advice is go simple with baby clothes. They grow so fast. I didn’t do that and think back now and wish I had. Also enjoy those little moments with the baby. It’s such a sweet time. As I said they grow so fast. Maybe not at first but one day you’ll look back and wonder where the time went. Mime will be 22 and 19 this year. Crazy!! Congrats again!=)
Congratulations 🎉😊
Fully enjoy being a Mom. I have five kids. Al five love nature and National Parks, but my oldest is the only only one that loves difficult hikes. He is a senior in high school and we have a tradition to do Mt Washington on his birthday. This year will be our sixth time together.
