When Queensland mum Yoshe Taylor logged on to an internet dating site, she never imagined the devastation that would unfold.
She thought she’d found a friendship and a business opportunity when she exchanged messages with a Nigerian-national living in Cambodia who called himself Precious Max.
Desperate for security in her life and a steady income, she was hooked and visited Precious Max in Cambodia several times.
But it was on her third visit that it all came undone and the web of lies unravelled.

Sentenced to 23 years in a Cambodian prison, Yoshe was helpless and largely forgotten. Six years later, she shares her story for the first time. This is part 1 of a two-part story. Episode two will be posted August 19, 2019.

I have been married for 5 years already to my husband that i met online by accident🤷‍♀️ you just need to know how to be smart about things - there are people who are true and ethical and real out there who do find real love with people they have never met in real life. We met for lunch not at night and in a busy restaurant. You can meet someone online, but you have to be realistic. • And not everyone lives in such a dog eat dog world as the US is. Most environments are NOT as hostile as the US, so for better or worse, the people there have not needed to be quite as suspicious as others until VERY recently. But the Americanization of all the world is progressing at an incredible rate. So the entire planet is fast becoming just as angry, hate filled, and hostile, which means that nobody can afford to not be on their guard at all times. Societies are evolving at a rapid fire pace, but they're not necessarily going in the right direction. The really weird thing about it is that it's the desire of the right wing to return to simpler (for them) times that is actually driving this huge increase in crime and violence. It's a complete contradiction! As it has always been, the so called "Conservatives" who make up the GOP and the Canadian Conservative Party(s) wants desperately to return to the 1950s, but as always they fail to grasp the reality that you can NOT go backwards! All you can do is try to improve the present and the future. But they refuse to even try to do that, instead prefering to punish those those who are unable to conform to their militaristic views. They refuse to work on improving the situation that actually causes the problems (curing the actual disease whose symptoms none of us like), and they prefer to just punish people when they become affected by the symptoms of that disease. In ignoring the root cause and punishing the symptoms they are actually feeding the disease, and causing an increase in the symptoms. Somehow they are totally unable to see past their blinkers. Their inability to actually think, to see the cause and effect, is just astounding! This was so clearly displayed during Covid. Instead of taking any action whatsoever against the disease itself, and even though it was SO OBVIOUS that taking precautions to prevent the spread of Covid would lessen the illnesses and deaths by more than half. The right wing and Trump's MAGAts worked furiously to deny the facts and punish the sick! (As well as their desperation to "own the libs!") I've never seen anything so excessive, childish, and stupid in my whole life! Steve Bannon fed money to the Alberta Seperatist Party, and together they tried for a whole month to shut Canada down. Bannon's buddies flew the organizers of the so called "Grass Roots". group back and forth across Canada in a private jet! No low brow semi trailer/trucks for them! The immature irresponsible babies who couldn't tolerate a flimsy little peice of cloth over their mouth for short periods of time here and there, certainly showed us all just how selfish the right wing is! All they want is easy answers that are as simplistic as can possibly be. The fact that society is vastly more complex than it was in the 1950s is irrelevant to them. Blockading the capital city and all the dryland borders from BC to Southern Ontario, and maybe even beyond that eastwards, was their answer to all the problems created by Covid. What a bunch of geniuses! Real stable geniuses! Geniuses with all the best words. TV, camera, person, dog. Their self proclaimed leader can't even read or write, or even speak in a way that approaches fluency in his own mother tongue! If not for the fact the US is leading the whole world away from sanity, and into an abyss, maybe we would have actually grown as a species after the collapse of the USSR, but Ronald Reagan amd Margaret Thatcher together led the world into the pit we are still wallowing in, worse than ever. We had a long succession of disasterous leaders in both countries (and in Canada.) We are now in a pit that we most desperately need to climb out of in a VERY DECISIVE WAY!

    • This comment kind of pits my replies to waste...I think it's true to say that you should never trust anyone you've only just met. True is earned, respect and faithfulness doesn't reveal it self until you've had time to share W these things. I've been suggesting that people live in the here and now. Meet people where they are. But, of course, this can b fraught with danger too. Also, you can't always trust your family, or the people you love. Without love and trust on your life, you can't love and trust. You can't even love yourself, if you haven't experienced people loving you. It's a sad world, truly f-ed world. Take care of you, but give back to others too

  • I send stuff like this to my mom every now and then, but it doesn't matter. She was hacked twice within a month, with these people almost getting into her bank account, and her willfully ignoring that, since she is on the same phone plan as four other people, she has indubitably endangered everyone that her phone is connected to, her email is connected to, her Facebook is connected to, etc. Her idea of things is that, since my dad is dead, she wants to die, (but isn't depressed -yeah-freakin'-right...-) and she just doesn't give a crap about who she drags down with her, because we're "just supposed to trust God," and, for all intents and purposes, jump off of a building, tied to her ignorance. I'm a Christian, but I'm not insane. When it comes to decoding deception, she couldn't have more tepid thinking, and absolutely REFUSES to do ANYTHING that anyone (especially me) tells her to do with technology, because she wants to play Farmville and live in a fantasy world where cops are like Andy Griffith was portrayed, taxes go to schools and roads, and the government is your friend. She even saw cops beat a man to death on the news, and STILL thinks this.... 1950s, horse crap.
