THE IMPORTATION OF GOATS TO JAMAICA | MY EXPERIENCE | THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

I come before you today wearing my heart on my sleeve, I have thought long and hard about this matter, and for a while, I have stayed silent out of respect for the veterinary division and others involved, however I need to share the sad truth that I have fallen victim to a scam while buying imported goats.
I have suffered financial losses and disappointment on the arrival of some of the animals I purchased.
I've thought long and hard about this issue for a while, keeping my silence as I wrestled with my thoughts as to what is best to do......I cannot stay silent and watch fellow farmers lose their money, i feel compelled to speak up and try to protect my fellow farmers here in Jamaica.
Please be vigilant and thorough with all checks and dealing when selecting a breeder, middle man or farmer from the USA.
I come before you today as a man, as a farmer just like you....and I say with a heavy heart that I have been the victim of a scam involving imported goats. If it can happen to me with all my years of experience in the goat industry, then it can happen to all of you too.
Please I implore you to listen to my experience and that of others if they are brave enough to share their own stories. I know a lot of farmers may feel embarrassed to admit they have been victim to such a scam, but I have to put my pride aside and try my best to help my fellow farmers avoid such a terrible situation like the one I have faced.
I feel I need to come forward and share my experience to help keep you from falling victim to the same scam and losing money just like myself.

  • Happy new year Mr. Bernard! One favor I want to ask you please. Not for me but Mr Fred. Mr Fred has a KZhead channel. Farming in Africa. He invested millions and millions in Ghana in a village called Senase. He was teaching about goat rearing for 5 years. He imported exotic breeds. He built the largest goat barn in all Africa. Then suddenly the authorities decided they don’t want goats in their village anymore. Now he’s losing his farm. He’s asking everyone to tell his story. He’s hoping that spreading the news will put pressure on the village elders to reconsider. He only has one week left before the deadline. He’s been doing a lot of interviews about this. Maybe if you did a video it would help? It would show we all care about each other. No matter where in the world we need every goat farmer. Much love ❤️ thank you for your consideration!

  • Good to know. Thanks for sharing. The only thing missing is the name of the culprit so they can be avoided like the plague.

  • I hope you will make it through what ever though times your going through right now. You can't really trust alot of people now a day but we still have to do our best. God him self did not promise that we won't have troubles in this world but rather that he would be with us and grant us comfort and peace throughout the hard times. You will recover from this setback. God bless you my friend and keep on keeping on

  • So sorry to hear this happened to you. I believe your only recourse, at this time, is to take him to small claims court. You don't need an attorney to do this, just file the paperwork with the county in which he operates.

  • Its probably better to purchase semen versus loosing a goat in receiving a bad breed
