The Great Debate this week is on a quietly debated topic: Water Swatting ducks. This isn’t one of those big loud obnoxious debates. It’s usually one guy in the group that poo poos on someone shooting a duck on the water. “Its not sporting” “that’s not how it’s meant to be done” and more sayings like these are common place. Effective and for the meat. Most water swats are at typically like 20 yards max in the decoys… We aim for the head, it the air and on the water. Gotta disagree with Joey on this one…

When you swat them you do not mess up the meat near as bad.
Myth buster time guys get some decoys if your aiming your shotgun and worrying about wind your not gonna hit that duck my dad made me flush every grouse and he leaves the road birds for the tourists
Feet hanging we banging, when the landing gear slips out they ready to meet there maker if your decoys setup right and kill zone in the right spot
Let's say you're turkey hunting. You call a big gobbler into your decoys, and instead of shooting, your buddy jumps up and waves his arms and yells to try to get the turkey to run away. Sound crazy? I think almost everyone would say yes. But this is the exact same process that people who are opposed to water swatting go through when waterfowl hunting and birds land in the decoys.
