  • Hope EFCC will not stop at Yahaya Bello alone, because I believe he is not the only ex governor that is guilty of this crime. There is no sane mind that will not weep for the Nigeria and Nigerians of today. This is only possible in a lawless country such as we find ourselves.

  • In Canada, Governors (Premiers) couldn't do what Yahya Bello did, *even if they wanted.* This is because Governors (or Premiers, as they are called here) do not have the authority to disburse funds. Also, special auditing is not required to detect fraud. This is because auditing is built into the system. Auditing is concentric, constant, and ongoing. Slightest misuse of Government fund immediately triggers alarm in several areas. Nigeria have had the same corrupt practices since independence, and no one in power has attempted to restructure the old system.

  • This is the reason why Nigeria 🇳🇬 is where it is. An opportunity to serve your own people is an avenue to emerce wealth. On a normal day if YAHAYA BELLO should be a private citizen like every other person in this country will he even be able to build a poultry cage with his own personal income Not to talk of owing a house. Ebonyi and Kogi state are among the last created state in Nigeria. But today can you compare KOGI with EBONYI? Absolutely no KOGI IS A POOR STATE. Due to bad leadership. Irrespective of all the enormous mineral and natural resources which God blessed that state with just take a look at how devastated and poor Kogi is.

The system is transparent, and there's constant and ongoing auditing of the use of smallest amount of public fund. It is extremely difficult to steal public money.

Yahya Bellow became bold because he didn't think he would be exposed. He has probably done it before in a different setting, and gotten away. Prosecuting fraud is a different matter, though, because I don't understand why a suspected thief has a right to go to Appeals court, when he has not even been prosecuted or formally charged.

    • @@michaeludeze8470 What you say makes perfect sense in a land of sensible people, sadly Nigeria is not one of those places. We saw how the new and improved INEC system was meant to guarantee vote protection with real time data reporting etc. What did the officials do? They switched the machine off, fabricated some figures and declared the fabrication as valid. Similarly, any digital recording of unauthorised withdrawals or "re-directions" can be wiped or falsified. Even if it's recorded on the blockchain they will look for a loophole to deny the truth. The problem lies with the people not so much the system.

That’s why Nigerian economy deteriorates as years passed by !! Even the National Assembly in budgets they in one swoop allocate an insane amount of money to National Assembly and then gradually and in secrecy will be crediting huge sums of money to their members bank accounts. So the monster we have that incapacitates and overwhelmed this nation is hydra- headed and enamors in deed!
