$1000 Katana VS Metal! - Anime Cutting Challenge
#katana #anime #samurai
[THIS IS A REUPLOAD] There was an issue with the original's framerate so I've replaced it.

Today we're testing out the Paul Chen Bamboo Mat katana. It's made of a special high alloy steel that's supposed to be extremely durable and great at keeping it's edge. So let's see if this $1000 sword can cut through metal and come out unscathed.

Dude this anime intro is GOLD!
Thanks brother, means a lot coming from a fellow live action anime character!
Why does he onley have this little comments
Fr it’s amazing
Heyy clint your channel is real good you have been doin great after you left corridor, I still miss you in the vfx artist reacts!!
A gold experience indeed
Man got a whole anime opening to extra flex on us
Yeah man. Dont forget the outro tho
Waiting for the Netflix drop XD
Fr xD
But he forgot to run in it. xd
Oh God imagine if the sound track was a bunch of random words that sound cool or even jibberish
The intro wasn’t a joke it was just a teaser for the new anime he’s making
Soo true
The way he talks, the expressions and words he uses, this would make an amazingly funny and entertaining teacher 😂
The anime intro was missing a scene of you running for no reason.
😂😂😂
Its not for no reason, the anime characters run to their goals.
@Samuele Merola I agree! 😂
Yeah
LOL
The things D does for our entertainment/education. Your sword's sacrifice was worthy.
Sacrifice? It's just damaged, not lost
@@chrisnorris3641 exactly
@@malakal-shareefi4044 i mean a competant Smith can repair it still
No its not worth that
@@chrisnorris3641 Not even a smith.. i could fix that tiny edge roll in minutes with a whetstone. No problem
The way D explains things with such a natural, nonchalant demeanor really makes me feel like a student while watching these videos. The entire vid was masterful. You have a new subscriber for sure 🔥 That anime intro was on point, too! 😂
The KZhead algorithm has finally brought me some good content this dude does all kinds of stuff and not to mention the fact he has a sick intro
The black weebs approve of that intro D. We also approve of the sacrifice you made for our knowledge on the Katana. You’re the truth!
I don’t think there’s a weeb that doesn’t approve the Intro
That we do!
Why do black people gotta mention color
@@SuperSikarlo Because we can.
fuck the intro had me ballin my eyes out, this shit is hilarious man
i've honestly always loved the creativity you put in something so simple as an intro sequence, even if it takes a little bit more time it adds so much of your personality to the vids.
It is.
thank you for making these videos brotherman, they are really informative and great sense of humor.
i love these videos so much. Can you please make more katana videos? Like reviews, katana techniques, which katanas to buy, stuff like that.
Already watched the original. Just here to like and engage.
🙏
@@Cerberusarms " but where do you go to get your katakana sharpened bro"???
@@princehenryiv9207 he does h-it himself?
@@LateN1ghts i dont watch this channel much so he might be a professional, but you are supposed to go to a professional to get them sharpened
@@theemperoroftea3001 a professional? If you already have katana in your posession you should be a pro its dangerous enough And for me if i have the necessary materials i could do it myself but thanks for the reply
2:39 "ive seen micro bikinis thicker than this" Damn that insult cuts deeper than this badass blade
Do you know who makes the art
@@cranky0063 I second your question.

Dude's video production quality, choice of music and funny anime memes are out of this world, Liked & Subbed now this is excellent content!
Just came to this channel looking for casual katana info, but absolutely loved the anime intro and is why I subscribed that moment. Dig the channel though

Glad to be here supporting your channel! Give thanks to recommendations haha
Deja vu I have seen this upload before xd
Same
He reuploaded it cause of 0 views
Facts bruh
The original video is private now
I reuploaded it because the original was exported at the wrong frame rate so it was choppy. This new version is much smoother
I didn't realize how badly I needed a sword review channel hosted by D. Everything is super entertaining and really well done!
The self-esteem of the Japanese people and their style is admirable. The opening is a show in itself!
Man, the anime intro gave me chills! Lovely stuff man. 🤗
Really love how well previous sword content received, looking forward for more
😂 D is such a legend! That anime intro was perfect!
The intro earned a sub xD great shit my dude
Dude, you're my new favorite channel. This is awesome.
Favorite quote of this video “I seen micro bikinis thicker than this” 😂
I feel your pain. I’d love to chop some metal like that, but can’t bring myself to. Lol though now i may have to hunt one of these down. Just knowing I’ll be in for a custom tsuka maki & saya job in advance.
i'm down with your videos mate! well done! :D
The cotton trick is amazing to know. Thank you very much. I once bought a sword with a loose saya and what I did was paste a thin layer of balsa wood with white glue on the base of the koiguchi, it worked perfectly but Ill keep the cotton trick in mind
I haven't seen quality content like that anime intro in a long time.
Lol oh man that intro, that was great! Made me think of that Raid character modeled after you.
Yo I love the little opening that you made 🔥♥️
Personally, I love the whole work you put behind your videos, but this one... 10, for the hilarity and commentary, alone. But my favorite... the ridiculously basic way that you replaced the sageo... ROFLMAO!!!!! Buddy, THAT is just f*cking priceless.
This blade seems amazing. As ive trained pa-kua and ken-jutsu i was easily a bit disturbed by somethings id like you to take note, cause if you do, i assure you its gonna greatly positively impact your cutting form. The two major drawbacks that i can see yours not fully utilising the strenghs in that blade. One, is that you're focusing too much on the natural teardrop shape characteriscs of the blade for cutting, instead of actually fully sliding it to make it a no only more precise and concise cut, but spreading the impact into a larger area. And the second would be that since youre using the very tips on the blade, what you end up lacking is actually blade real space. If you stop and watch the video in slow, as i did to make sure i wasnt crazy when i saw it first time, some of your cuts didnt totally sliced tru not because you lost too much power, but because you actually tried to slide (as in softer objects we tend to do more) but you end up retracting it before youre actually done. There you have it, if you master just those two things, you'll see how thats gonna improve your cutting flow. Im sorry for my bad english in advance, this is not my mother language lol. Loved the intro btw really cool, just subbed
Didn't ask
Ignore the person above, this was some very useful and constructive advice, not hateful at all. Also your English is very very good, no problems there.

I hope one day it's a complete anime where Cerberus gets a sentient katana with a dragon soul inside (so basically the plot for Beyblade) and every battle he wins he takes people's blades and judges them at home on the Matt's and discover s the unique powers inside like the beasts then he fights through a tournament and one of the swords he claims is evil and kills his entire dojo so he gets his grandfathers dragon blade to face the anime final boss with the dementor katana and Cerberus arms dead students have become the ultimate ghost Ronin at the end all his friends are like force ghosts that died and are Ronin warriors seeking revenge in the afterlife fighting alongside Cerberus and they all have a Massive Lord Of The Rings battle in the end but the beasts all escape the swords and then it's basically Godzilla and Kong appears while the two main characters Duel then boom.... Cut to black .... Sequel
That. Is. Sick.
Maybe you should make your own anime cuz that was pretty slick no shit
That's actually a great idea
Bro I love ur channel lmao I trained in Kali/Arnis/Eskrima 15yrs n also just started this year in Iaido/Aikido.. naturally I came across JP swords and found u. Good stuff mang!!! 👏
Thanks man, glad you’re enjoying the content!
ZORO ITTORYU! DAISHINKAN!!! - just found your channel and i'm already hype for every video :D
The intro is an anime theme, im subbing for life.
Remember when D defeated Niko in a Sword Duel with a behind the back block , those were the days
Bro added an opening that isn't needed in the slightest, but i am so grateful for
Amazing work D!
Would be awesome for you to show people how to repair a Saya using wood veneer instead of cotton for a more permanent fix. Although some katanas come with papers explaining the repair, it's something that isn't well explained in English.
Personally im more of a longsword guy, since i am more familiar with them but still, you can not deny the beauty of the katana. Also the rich history that is intertwined with the blade is something i can really respect. Edit: I have read both josjikawa taiko and josjikawa moesasji. So i know about the samurai but im just less familiar with handeling a katana compared to a longsword.
Bro the anime intro, love it Keep up the good work!
Only just came across this channel, but man you're anime riffs are so fucking spot on, I love it thank you! I tip my fedora to you my good sir
You know there is a man in Japan who actually accomplished this his name is Isao Machii
If you're gonna cut double mats you're gonna need to start your cut below your monouchi. Starting at the nakahodo should run enough blade through the mat to slice that last layer but cutting closer to the tsubamoto should guarantee it.
Good tips, I’ll try that next time!
Loving these videos definitely make more

*talks shit about the case* Moments later: This is the sickest blade I have ever seen
the perfect channel for my type content
Bro the intro is so sick. I am surprised at how well the sword you have cut through the steel.
I think I have my own saying that I say to myself. " A sword is as strong as the wielder" In anime, you can break a building with a few hits so, you'll be able to cut it in half with one chop. IRL, if you try to do the same then you'll break your hand so, the blade will most definitely break. Real life is not as great as the anime life, obviously.
What is the name of song/music while scenes that anime intro-like
I work with aluminum, steel, iron and stainless steel all day, every day and aluminum is super soft. I believe that aluminum is probably .024 or (24g) thick or less. Which you can bend easily with your hands. Chances of aluminum damaging your blade which is hardened steel is pretty much 0%. As for that galvanized you mentioned .01875 or (26g) is metal used for duct work and is super flimsy. There's really not much strength to the 26g or below. You can cut steel or galvinized steel up to 20g (.035) or even some times 18g (.047) with just tin snips. Steel in terms of strength only gets strong past 18g or (.047) and even then 18g considered thin by most. More than likely the only reason the steel damaged your blade is due to the fact it hit it on the top edge, if you would of rolled the top edge I bet your blade wouldn't have been damaged. Might be helpful to do in future videos if you plan on continuing to cut metal with your katakanas. Also one last thing is you may want to tighten the sheet in that man made rig of yours. Perhaps just adding some wood bolts run it through the wood then file down the tips to clamp those pieces of metal in place so they don't come off and hit you in your face. Overall the video was interesting to watch. I'm just giving positive criticism to help you improve your content. O yeah and I forgot to mention don't buy 6061 aluminum since that stuff is semi hardened. So there is a chance your katakana could be damaged from it. I would suggest getting 3032 aluminum since it's a fairly soft aluminum.
It's ok, if you damage your katakana you can pull out the hiragana and stay in the fight.
bro this is the best video so far on yt lmao
That anime intro just proved to me that you're the best youtuber ever
Like I was gonna say: D doesn't need an anime filter. Like Jesus he actually looks better without that anime filter. How does he even style his hair?
it just comes that way on the current D model.
Anyone else feel D is the protagonist and we’re just the NPCs
This intro is so cool!
The intro and every anime plot just made this vid better 😹🔥
There are several "That's what she said" jokes I could make, but...
Question...im a cinematographer doing channel katana reviews as well, is that a moterized slider you have your camera on or is someone shooting it for you?...love the quality of your vid.
Thanks man, appreciate the kind words. It’s a manual slider that has to be operated by a cameraman.
The intro is so sick jeez dude
I was nervous at the steel sheet too. Glad the sword took minimal damage and did quite well through the aluminum and steel sheets.
Aluminum is barely metal. You can cut aluminum with just anything.
Best anime intro!
0:34 - 1:34 1 minute of awsome anime song, music and anime scenes real life version. Anyways it was an awesome experiment and I gave a like because between seriousness, you make some fun with animes. I like this thing of your videos.

Anime vs reality is quite different 🥺 but I’m very impressed by you cutting the tatami Matt’s

I rll like the intro and the edit was so good 👌
I use a Paul Chen/Hanwei Nanbokucho Zukuri as my main cutter and its an absolute beast for the price, so I can only imagine how good this one feels.
Your intro is so cool and dope
Neeed more content for sure, would love a wakizashi cut test and comparison with a euro short sword
I'll subscribe because your sword expertise is good. Anime intro gotme In real good. I hope you do more sword reviews and comparisons again. Your insight is real good
Glad I've found this channel, new sub
This katana is beautiful.the Hamon line in the blade is beautiful and I never seen it before usually it's never been that thin but amazing, the scabbard does kinda sucks if it accidentally drops
Would love to see you and Matthew Jensen do a Drunk Anime Collab.
This channel has the best intros
It is so cool bro nice work
I've liked some of your videos, but I'm a subscriber after this one. I really liked your humility and willingness to show your bad cuts too. That sword looks really awesome. I personally don't like a bohi anyway and the sori looks ideal too. If you mentioned the blade length, I missed it. I tend to like longer swords, at least 29 & 1/2 inches. It really is a bummer though about the saya. I would seriously consider buying this sword if it wasn't for that. Awesome looking hamon for sure. I don't think I like that tsuba though just from looking at it. Great video, I'll be checking out more for sure.
Dude U Are Inspiring Now I Want To Learn ninjutsu And Want Others To Learn It
Absolutely genius
you a funny dude, love the videos!
holy that intro was AMAZING
best intro ever :)
I felt my heart stop as soon as you hit that steel sheet, I could not ever imagine trying any of this with my Katana, mine is T10 Steel costed around $300 but to me, it's not about the cost, it's the sentimental value and connection I have with my blade.
The intro is fire
