Lesotho is a small kingdom landlocked in the gigantic territory of South Africa. Among the poorest in the world, this high country has breathtaking landscapes, but above all it has a rare and precious asset in Africa: water. During the long winter months, the country is covered with snow and in the middle of the peeled mountains, there is even a ski slope very popular with South Africans. On the dirt tracks and deserted roads that cross the mountains, Alice and Fébellina struggle to find new customers for their old taxi. New encounters, mechanical troubles, but also fear and bursts of laughter punctuate the wanderings of the two friends. Justice has no place in the heart of these lost mountains. Cattle rustlers and other criminals sow terror in isolated villages. The police do not venture there: there is no road. The only alternative to crime: the mounted militia. Fierce horsemen who tirelessly chase outlaws from valley to valley. They are nicknamed The Wrath of the Lion. In the no man's land that separates South Africa from Lesotho, vehicles have to face a winding road strewn with pitfalls and cross the Sani Pass, a pass with a sinister reputation, under the gusts of wind. There are very few gas stations in the interior of the country, gasoline is scarce. Reckless drivers face the precipices to supply the lost villages.
The young man helping the old person on a house is a real hero. It's a pity that we just watch and enjoy these videos. Surely they should be a way to help these people. Send him to learn first aid or something. Give him more than a horse for him to continue his kindness. The world needs more people like him.
Beautiful country . beautiful people
Wow those two women, they are so optimistic singing and smiling through it all
The most important remark in all of this is when the young man leading a horse with a sick woman to hospital says, in so many words, respect your elders for their wisdom and storytelling. That is what Africa teaches us. I know. Be humble.
You are right😅. Asia and other continents teach to kick their elders🙄

I have a physical disability and sometimes it's hard for me to live a simple life because I always think my condition is limiting me myself to see a brighter future. After watching this documentary I compared myself and the simple life that people from Lesotho lives. I've realized that I'm wealthy with my disability. Let's appreciate God and the experience of life, some people are really struggling out there and it's not their choice.
Lesotho is my home country and I would say the merge with South Africa is not necessary. I think we as people should learn to do our own things and do away with the idea of handouts
I respect that, I also believe lesotho should be lesotho
We can do it♥️🇱🇸
I knew Lesotho exists since we were taught geography in school and that it's surrounded by RSA on all sides. But, that's where it stops. I had no idea about anything else. Throughly enjoyed the trip across 🇱🇸. A world of its own. Love from NW India 🇮🇳
At least you knew it from your geography taught in school, coz Lesotho has been in world map ever since it's existence.
These beautiful people are so helpful to each other. Did anyone else notice that there are no trees and grass??
This was just documented during winter in which the grass turns brown
They might be poor in material, but they are wealthy in being human. They are their brothers keeper.
Those two ladies are such a vibe, nice documentary
Those two women were hilarious. I loved their spirit. That jockey is a hero.
In England or Australia he would have made a million dollars for throwing the race like that. The book makers would sing songs about him for years to come
Amazing beautiful people. Sending much love from Australia ❤️😊
This mountain kingdom of Africa is by far one of the most beautiful and magic places I’ve ever been to
I got the honour to call it my birth place. Thanks for visiting and please tell your friends to visit. ❤🇱🇸
The positivity of the Taxi ladies is infectious.
The first Mistake was to call people from Lesotho, the Lesothoans
😂😂😂😂😂😂,
braaaa lmao
So what are they called?
@@jcymngo Basotho, saying Lesothoans is an insult
And the way they pronounce Lesotho 🤦🏼♀️
im a proud Mosotho and happy to see my country on your series ... hello from Beijing . you made me miss my country more now , hahaha.
Correction on Lesothians, the nationality of people of Lesotho is known as Basotho (plural) and Mosotho (singular). great documentary thought, its always great to have a home country being documented, keep producing more and more
I'm a Basotho but I might just start calling myself a Lesothian. Americans will think I a Scottish.
You're a Basotho? O mosotho wena heban
"These women are much braver than male drivers. I trust female drivers more." These words warmed my heart! Didn't expect them from a man, in the remote wilderness in one of the poorest countries in the world. After seeing this documentary, I think that perhaps that was foolish of me. What lovely, warm-hearted people these people are!
I have lived my entire teenage and adult life South Africa and never knew this much aboout the plight of Basotho people. Thank you for the wonderful documentary. I hope politicians will see this and try contruct a proper road for the villagers.
I went to Lesotho for the first time in March for The Moshoeshoe walk, I must say Basotho are bery strong people, it made me appreciate what I have so much!
How would you know? You're white
My man, they know. We can't depend on politicians, its obviously a foreign system, designed to keep us backward. We must do for self, build capital for ourselfs, be self sufficient, build our own structures
Are you’ll reppin the bloods set? Piru?
Tell South African politicians also to construct roads in South Africa's rural areas coz they are also terrible even than these roads of Lesotho you see here. I have travelled South Africa both in urban places and rural places where places are terrible. It seems you haven't travelled your own country and that's why you can easily judge situations of other countries leaving out bad situation in your own country.
They are simply the Sotho or BaSotho not Lesothians
Ba joetse hahaha
😂😂😂😂😂😂 Lesothians, what?
Ayooo, what type of food does you’ll Lesotho 🇱🇸 folks eat brah? 12:47
Basotho
47:47 I really respect this young man for taking care and giving his time to the elderly.
What a beautiful place, and amazing people. It's so much different than what I usually picture as Africa. Loved those taxi ladies.
My country we're loving you South Africa.
I leave to Lesotho next week I can't wait 🇱🇸❤✌
it needs to be developed it has a lot of potential
Beautiful country and people, Thank you all for the journey, and i will never complain about my own country road standards again
your series is extremely well shot, adventurous and eye opening. Thank you for making this series!
Aside from his lies about smoking weed & driving. There are no legitimate statistics to prove the myth. Same is true about drug use in work place. The only stats on the matter were fabricated by a aguy selling drug tests Aclu published a great report on the matter
This is a great story of resilience and survival. It's a shame that the government can't just invest a little in fixing those roads. Even without paving those roads, just sending a few tractors to widen the road and make them a bit less rocky would help make the trips less dangerous. It's a real shame. Many of our countries' government only think of themselves and do nothing for the most needy of their citizens. Long life to these brave people.
They can, they just rather not
@@memidiane38 Very true. If there isn't an economic of political gain for those in power they don't care on how the regular people live.
@@LosInmortalesGallossame here in Botswana 🇧🇼, only benefit government and some officials, and also rich foreigners from India, and white people
Born lesotho here. We don't need big roads. We need equal partnerships for our diamonds and gold, and fair prices paid for our electricity, water and "overseas" workers.
Incredible insight into Lesotho
Great documentary. I am a Mosotho living in Lesotho.
Wow.. what a great documentary. I'm not blown away by most things, but this blew my mine. What a country and the people. Amazing!
I can't speak for all my Basotho sisters and brothers, but I am proud of my country and I know we can improve so much more. Come visit and always buy diamonds with authenticity.
It is sad how some people tell lies about our countries! Lesotho is not a forgotten kingdom..it is a very beautiful country passionately called The Kingdom in the Sky. The two ladies are not at all the true reflection of what is happening in the rural areas concerning transportation. Nobody drives a minibus and take long distances to places they dont even know, in search of passengers..THIS GUY IS A LIAR! This is a cooked journalism/narration! It is true our terrain is very hectic in the rural mountaneous areas, but the story is so much exaggerating! In 5years all the liars will have no story to tell. This country is an African Paradise!! We are Basotho not Lesothians..
Start your own KZhead channel and bring the true story to the limelight. It’s time for Africans to tell their own story correctly. I’m Nigerian, and I’ll watch.
Someone about to talk to the manager and email the satellite office all for the love of the country

Lesotho, my birth country.♥️♥️♥️
You have extremely lovely 🍑🍑
This could be our last day on earth... Courage is advancing despite fear. These ladies are the definition of courage!!!
Watching these documentaries, you conclude that no country is poor and we all need each other for resources. Lesotho has water/ diamonds
The gap in culture and living standards between the West and most rural parts of the world gets bigger all the time, partly because we enabled our own growth by overusing resources and cheap labour from elsewhere. in a globalised world there is meant to be a delicate balancing act so that everyone can share what they have and get what they need at a fair price. yet things just don't work like that in reality. Don't think we should say that the West's idea of success is perfect, maybe it's not what we should all strive for. Somewhere there should be a line between these two lifestyles where one can live comfortably enough.
@@froogsleegsLesotho suffers from many issues. But every one of those problems can be solved. We don't need catholic priests in charge of our medical facilities, we do need help with modern technology. We don't need global mining giants staking claims the size of Australia. We need fair pay for our migrant workers, agriculture products, electricity and water. We don't need a euro, yankee, russian, Chinese.... company building a highway from Maseru to the sani pass. We do need to call out corruption, ways to improve and inform the world how cool Lesotho is. Freezing if you go in winter, but who cares if you are skiing. ♥️🇱🇸
It feels to me like an african Western movie.
With love from Zimbabwe

“Lesotho is a forgotten Kingdom” ? ??? Forgotten by whom?
Forgotten by Prince Harry who used to visit before he moved to California.

Very nice, thanks for this body of work..very eye-opening too, beautiful country, wholesome people but the leader really need to put more effort into developing it. My country too (Namibia) needs developing too i should say, we are neither perfect but we must try harder. At the end of the day its all love my people..Africa pls stand up.!

I've seen a rear wheel come off a similar taxi (travelling in front of me in South Africa) while a passenger grinned back at me. It slowed down in a shower of sparks while the brake drum was worn away.....everyone lived.
Thanks for your video 😊

omg, this docu is insane, i didnt know Lesotho is at desert. My greatest respect for all the people they live there ! The two women are wonderful powerfull and brave !👍👍❣❣good humor !
I don't believe it was always desert - much of Africa had more vegetation and rain even just 40 years ago. But humans have decimated huge areas for firewood or farming sadly. Climate change has accelerated over most of the Continent in last 50 years.
its not a desert its just extremely cold without rain in winter (it can reach -20 degrees celsius) so the grasslands turn brown. Then in the warmer months the grasslands turn green again. This was shot in winter. Its just nature.
@@shisuiuchiha480 thank you, you are right-
There's no desert in Lesotho, if you know what a desert is. We only have vegetation and fertile soil and mountains not desert at all.
I've been up the Sani Pass. And one thing that struck me with Lesotho were the amount of Chinese overseeing the native workers. This made me sad!
Makes me mad!
What a lively and lovely people but being punished by the corrupt politicians. Amazing video!!! Much much respects and love from Pakistan!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Corrupt politicians brought Asian foreigners to take every little resources that we have and can survive with. And some of those foreigners are from your country Pakistan and China. One day we will fight to curb this corruption as a nation getting tired of corrupt politicians.
I'd love to share a spliff with them .
Spectacular documentary 🙏🇮🇳
The people of Lesotho are called Basotho not Lesothoians
😂😂😂
I thought they were called zamzamas
Absolutely beautiful place.
The strength and resilience of humanity is phenomenal. We have the strength to face Adversity. But for those of us who live in developed countries we choose depression and hopelessness instead of fighting the obstacles.
This must be a few years back. The country is much greener and now has tar roads in some of the areas shown.
I believe that agriculture is possible in this place, the people there need to learn new subsistence techniques
I love the pseudo-spaghetti western soundtrack.
The two ladies are such a vibe🤣
Ufff, bundle of energy, so fit and always laughing and enjoying, jolly good fellas.
