  • I have a Cornea disease, Kerataconus, and I've scratched my cornea on two separate occasions not related to my disease but let me tell you a Cornea injury is no joke. You literally cannot move either eyeball without excruciating pain. It feels like little Peebles were covered with lime juice and lodged into your eyeball that has papercuts all over it. Water literally pours out of your eye and your vision is cooked for about two days. You can't do anything but lay still until it heals, which luckily only takes about 2-4 days. I commend AJ for taking it like an absolute DAWG but to make it better don't move either eye it makes your injured eye rub against the inside of your eyelid. Keep them both shut and don't move, Side note: To cure Keratoconus doctors, have to scratch your cornea and harden it with a green gel for about 30 minutes so I have felt the scratched cornea experience a total of 4 times. Luckily for AJ your eyeball is one of the quickest healing parts of your body. AJ should have worse eyesight in that eye for the rest of his life but will be relatively pain free with proper antibiotic drops and ice within a few days.

I remember to this day crying on the ground as my dad was yelling at our dog knocking me over. I remember going to numerous eye doctor appointments to make sure I can still see. I was lucky to miss everything major in my left eye. We still had the puppy and my vision, but that memory sticks with me. I think I'll just wear goggles from here on out.

If the scratch was into the cornea stroma which does scar then his reported acuity would be much worse. I give the Dr a bad time for pressure patching but actually if I was pulling on AJ Hawks eyelids to place a bandage contact lens and he told me to stop; I would have listened as well 😄.

  • My advice to AJ is take it seriously and get to a retinal specialist and best surgeons. My dad was surgeon for 45 years and a trash lid corner took his corneal lense out, detached retina...etc. He ended up going thru several corneal transplants from donor eyes and never got vision back n had to retire. He has a glass eye now. Get well AJ best wishes

  • Eye pain is some of the worst. I have a disease which targets my eyes with swelling and I wish that pain on no one. It's both inside and outside of your body. Closing the eye creates a pain from pressure. Opening the eye creates pain from the elements. It's hell.

  • I had LASIK 5 years ago. 2 days after surgery my daughter who was around 11 months at the time reached her arm up while I was picking her up and poked me directly in the eye. She lifted the flap from surgery and bent it. I called my surgeon He had me come in and they had to put in a non vision correcting contact for 2 weeks to get the flap to lay right again.
