Dog made us believe it was over and then bites rescuer multiple times!!! 😱 EPIC
Trojan was spotted by #USC students Eden Weinblut and Lindsay Gibson, and they knew he needed help. He was very hungry, but he was too scared to allow them to help him.
Loreta Frankonyte and I headed out right away, we were told that Lindsay is keeping an eye on him, and Eden was also heading toward the rescue location - this was going to be a team effort.
This rescue was tricky - a lot of students around, a nervous dog, a huge campus, noisy construction, and in an effort to keep him around, Lindsay kept feeding him, so by the time we got there, he wasn't really hungry anymore. Loreta rushed to the campus cafeteria to get a fresh cheeseburger - I hoped he wouldn't be able to resist that.
The actual capture went smoothly, a simple textbook rescue 🤓👍
What we didn't know is that this Trojan horse was waiting for us to let our guard down so he could escape. In his first attempt to escape, he knocked Loreta to the ground, but she got back on her feet and managed to get a #LuckyLeash around him. Then he tried to trick us so we would let our guard down again, and when that didn't work, he tackled Loreta again and bit her multiple times! 😰

Long story short frost got spooked by some kids who play with fireworks in the neighborhood & he jumped over the fence & ran off because of the loud noise and ran for his life & ran too far to know how to get home, he took refuge at the campas where people there fed him. Thank you guys for rescuing him & finding the owner. 4th of July is approaching call your local vet to get your pets microchipped & a name tag with an active phone number and email. The more contacts you give, the more likely it is to get in contact with you.
Thanks for this information❣This is exactly the reason to: 1. Get your pets microchipped and 2. Forbid uncontrolled fireworks, especially for children! At best no fireworks at all, as they do so much harm to domestic and wild animals, not to speak injuries to humans!
One tip I'd like to give to anybody who currently has a puppy and is worried about fireworks spooking them, something I did when my dog was a puppy was put firework sounds on youtube to desensitise them to the sound. My dog never got spooked by the sounds as a puppy and they don't bother her now.
Or keep them inside so they don't get scared and run off.
Heck...I even had my pot bellied piggie chipped...for that just-in-case-God-forbid nightmare ever were to happen to her...she gets lost !!!
That's why I HATE living here. People on limited incomes somehow come up with massive amounts of professional grade fireworks. 4th of July in this neighborhood starts May and runs through August. They set off fireworks on Thanksgiving and Christmas, which is ridiculous. And straight through to a massive New Years, which continues through the end of January. The homes were built in 1910-1925, d, wood, fire hazards. It's a nightmare, not just for the animals. I spend 4th of July hosing down my roof.

It's the adrenaline. You can't feel the pain until much later. Almost two weeks ago I caught a very sick cat, wasn't feral, just sick and afraid and very, very hungry. He bit me and almost bit off a part of my finger and fingernail - the pain was so bad, but I didn't feel anything for quite some time. If it weren't for all the blood I wouldn't even know I was hurt.
That is because she is stupid and cant take direction. She is not a trooper, she is a hindrance in most rescues, not a helper. After all this time she still acts like she has no idea what she is doing.

That dog was far more excited to see his owners than the owners were to see him. The guy just stood there while the dog was jumping all over him. Give him some more loves!

Wow. Frost probably thought he was never going to find his family again. He didn’t want anyone’s comfort besides his family, until he realized how much he needed help. Can’t imagine the heart break he felt. He’ll remember how you guys helped him for several years.

Hope for Paws most certainly microchipped him. For that matter, most rescues don't normally release an un-microchipped animal to _anyone_ until after they've been microchipped (AND de-sexed, if they weren't already).
We always microchip, spay and neuter.

Terrible to see Loreta get so injured. Hindsight s 20/20 but he wasn't giving friendly vibes before she did a lot of daring to put her hands right by his mouth and head. Unlike most, he lunged lots of times while he was frightened, and I've seen you run with a dog resisting a gentle snare before, to let them have a little control while they calm down run energy off. We need a cheeseburger hero award for Loreta🙏
I am a bit concerned for Frost, his owner didn’t seem that loving towards him I would have been in tears, are there any checks in place afterwards? Thank you so so much to everyone for all your hard work and dedication ❤

I agree. Sadly Trojan looked happier to see them than the other way around. Stupid people who enjoy using illegal fireworks on July 4th and New Year’s Eve are the reason I stay home on those days and bring all my dogs inside and comfort them as those idiots illegally celebrate.

That was such an intense rescue! I'm glad you guys never give up. He was so cute getting wrapped in a towel after his bath...he reminded me of Obi Wan Kenobi. 😀 The reunion at the end with his Dad had me crying...he was finally so happy! If he could speak, he'd be telling you "thank you". 💞🐾

Loreta deserves a damn raise at this point Eldad…crawled in a spider infested sewer, got dragged around by a 100+lb dog, and now bitten on the arm. MY GOD- So glad that Trojan/Frost found his way back home. ❤❤❤

Unfortunately, they sometimes push dogs too far too fast. Trying to pet him in that state was too much for him.

I absolutely detest fireworks, we have the same problems here in the UK on 5th November. There are too many stupid people in the world for fireworks to be sold. Well done for reuniting frost with his family, he looked so grateful. Much love from the UK ❤️
Some communities are switching to “silent” fireworks, not just for the sake of animals but also people with PTSD from bombs or other loud noises.
Such a beautiful dog. I'm so glad Trojan / Frost was able to be reunited with his owners. And I agree, fireworks are no pet owner's friend. I dread the 4th every year for exactly this reason. Even inside with windows closed and the TV going for noise muffling, my two cats struggle all night. And that's not counting all the random ones that go off leading up to, or after the holiday.
People start doing all sorts of things on bonfire night just go on as usual and the animals be fine people make the animals aware of the noise leave them turn tv up a little no know different

I will never understand why people do not just spend the small amount of money to get their pet microchipped. Any caring pet owner at this point has no excuse to not have it done.
Talk is cheap. Feeding and caring for pets must cost a bundle these days.. Microchipping would be an afterthought, if the animal were usually on a leash.

Poor, angry dog. He was just telling all of the rescurers "Get away; you're not my dad!". I've seen many Hope for Paws videoes, and have cried at the immense abuse some of them suffered, but this pupTrojan (or whatever his real name is) went from angry and sad, to joyful and elated. He was so happy to be reunited with the man he trusts and who clearly loves him. Now I'm crying happy tears for both of them.

Great rescue once again, thanks guys. Trojan was so happy to be reunited with his Dad, however, Dad didn't seem to be overly excited. He didn't even bother to bend down and give the dog a hug. I would be jumping for joy, take him into my arms, and thank the rescuers profusely...anyway, good ending, and the dog is back home.

They all looked pretty happy. Maybe they were just uncomfortable around strangers. Or maybe they just don’t smother their dog like some families do.

Well, they were smiling and didn’t just ignore the dog. They were happy to see him. Maybe they just didn’t show it the way a lot of people do when being reunited with a lost pet. Don’t judge them. You don’t know what they may have been through prior to this.

Good grief!! He is so smart and handsome. Awesome you were able to find his family, which he clearly loves. Fireworks SUCK. It's how I got my girl, and I feel sad for the family in Los Angeles who lost her because of fireworks.

Poor guy. He was so scared that he didn't understand that they were trying to help him. He got so worked up, it took him some time to calm down. I'm glad that in spite of the bites and the fighting, they still were able to get him to safety and then reunited with his family. Good job to these brave and compassionate people.
