Sotnikova had an incredible skate, one that should have earned her the bronze medal. This should have been the start of her career, an encouraging result that she could have used to motivate herself for the next Olympics. Instead, she won gold, fizzled out, and robbed a true legend the chance to go gold back to back. It's a shame, really.
Considering how she likely doped, she should've been disqualified.

I Love Yu-Na very much! (I call her "Her Majesty Queen Yuna"!) SHE is more understandable and similar to me in spirit and artistry! Yuna and Adeline very accurately skated their programs! Watched this again, and I just really noticed how biased the commentators are. Woman: Triple Flip Double toe, Double loop. *sotnikova stumbles the landing* Woman: Little bit of a dance at the finish. Little bit of a dance? Seriously. WTH. Still rolling my eyes on this performance.

몇년이 지나고 모든 분노와 빡침 사적인 감정을 내려놓고 다시 돌려봤다. 확실히 힘있는 스케이팅이었고 파워풀하면서도 물흐르듯 잘 진행한 편의 프로그램이었음. 그러나 클린프로그램은 아니었고 점프도 아쉬운 점이 보였으며, 관객호응유도는 우승할만한 프로그램의 요소가 아니었음. 몇번을 다시봐도 우승은아님.

Why do people keep trying to fool themselves by saying she earned gold? One of the judges was married to the HEAD OF THE RUSSIAN SKATING FEDERATION. Another of the judges had been disciplined years before for trying to fix and event. She even hugged one of the judges when she won gold. I'm sorry, but she did not deserve gold.

Yeah, just checked the official site. Seems that in skating, there were a total of 24 individuals whose urine tests have been falsified. Sotnikova is highly likely to be one of them.

Sotnikova just said in an interview that her A samples tested positive for doping, but the IOC protected her and her B samples were "magically" not positive. Basically just admitted the Olympic committee and IOC helped cover up her positive doping. They literally did everything they could to drag her onto that first place podium.
Errr, that’s not what she said)) She never said IOC protected her and made the sample B (not samples) negative. But in fact, sample A was never positive in the first place, it was scratched and therefore considered compromised. So sample B was opened and she proved clean. Why Adelina called her A sample positive is now beyond understanding and she’s gotten herself in a huge scandal… but that’s on her now.

Unfortunately, Kim's loss was due to poor planning on her part. Kim skated basically a perfect low-risk program, while Sotnikova performed a far more difficult program with less grace and one big mistake. But, since 2006, high-risk programs were heavily favored by the scoring system, and judges had less discretion to use a score like artistry to mitigate the scoring system's preference for difficulty.
She was Dopping with judges
On 02.22.2022, Sotnikova 3.3 mil and Queen 9.4 mil views. The performance in figure skating ideally should be something that people can remember as art and want to see it again and again. In that regard, we know what was the most beautiful performance was in Sochi.
And the majority of the comments are how undeserving this performance was for the gold medal- aka most of the views are from people who watch this with disdain
And most of those 3.3mil are just from people curious to see if she deserved the medal. The views on Yuna's are because people keep rewatching because is so beautiful

On other hand there are truly talented people like Yuzuru that get gold, silver and even bronze medals, get many traumas and don't give up. However, Sotnikova, after winning the 2014 Olympics, did not skate anymore. Have you seen her compete after? She only skated in Russia and landed 6th place, after then she did not compete anymore. However, like Adelina, there are also some Olympic champions that did not compete for their supposed to be next Olympic. Yuna Kim was not triggered, in fact, she said, the most important thing in figure skating is to connect with the people, the color of the medal will only come after it. Yuna, despite having injuries after 2010 Olympic title, competed in 2011-2014 even the 2014 Olympics. You've got to give the girl credit, and to other skaters like Yuzuru Hanyu that are still competing despite having injuries.

True. Her technical elements were pretty impressive but the performance scores were definitely inflated. I agree she deserved bronze, but not gold like she got. Especially not with an almost record breaking score. She's a skater with amazing technical elements but when I watch her, I feel nothing. Yuna Kim had so much emotion in her skates and so did Carolina. Coming back to watch these, I constantly pick apart what's wrong and then I always ask "why did she get such a high score? "

I don’t watch much ice skating. I actually really enjoyed this performance. Felt energetic and powerful. But I do see the comparisons to Yuna, who was so sophisticated, elegant and accurate. I preferred Ms Yuna’s, but this was still rather enjoyable. That being said, I’m not sure how Yuna scored less

She already bagged her gold in 2010 thankfully and her legend only grew from 2014 as people appreciated her performance even more due to the robbery. People aren’t stupid and all that matters is we all knew who really won.

but everyone in the mens didn't do that well. And Yuzuru broke the record for his short program at Sochi. He is way better than Adelina. He proved that he is worthy of being an Olympic Champion. Adelina, however, didn't even manage to do that.

He continuously wins because of how fluid and ethereal his performances are. Adelina looks so stiff and she keeps on going out of beat it’s unappealing

Marika fasola I doubt that she will ever get her second gold. The corruption is too deep. Yuna knew that herself; she said that her opinion or stance on the scandal wouldn't change the results. It's just a pity that she was treated this way at her last Olympics. It's unfathomable how Russia doesn't recognize how lucky they are to see her perform competitively for the last time. I would do anything to see her skate just once. And they were blessed with three of her performances. I wonder how much was the ISU paid to help Russia win their first "gold" in ladies figure skating.

I'm obviously not a figure skating expert, but anyone with eyes should be able to see that Kim's skate was a ton better. And Sotkinovas dance was definitely not more difficult, just go look at Kim's.

Tony Faxton Mao Asada's program is more difficult than Sotnikova and yet Sotni got higher scores than Mao. How can u explain on this? Difficult program cannot justify worse performance.
spamoscow Sotnikova had one more triple jump, Yuna had one more double jump, do the math, the difference is "1". Now let's talk about the techniques and the GOE(grade of execution given by the judges). Sotnikova uses wrong techniques. Her edge use is incorrect on her triple lutz, and her triple "toe" jump looks more like a "blade" jump. I won't even mention the under rotated jumps. This is more than enough to know that Sotnikova(who still skates like a juior) shouldn't have earned higher execution points on the jumps than Yuna who has long established her name in this sports with her technique. SOMEHOW the judges at the Olympics thought otherwise.... Oh wait...did I mention those pictures of Sotnikova hugging with one of the judges who also happens to be Russian?
spamoscow okay. you wanna talk about TES? TES should be scored according to what the skater actually does on the ice not what they said they would do. Sotnikova's lutz was flutz because she took off the ice with an inside edge. Therefore, it should've had the wrong edge mark and she should've received -1 to -3 GOE as she did in the past. However, Russian tech panel did not make any call on her a wrong edge. Also, her triple toe loop was under rotated thus, should've been downgraded. But again, never happened. Her triple-double-double combination jumps, she under-rotated and stepped out after two footed landing. However, she received a full credit with -0.78(?) GOE. How can you dare say Sotnikova's program was more difficult than Yuna. Not true at all. And let's not forget about PCS. definitely over scored. She received more than 4 points than Carolina which is just ridiculous.
