Behavior Interactive (Dead By Daylight Developers) is widely known for being all about pride, they have an in game code system players can use to receive these little charms all representing different pride flags including trans and even have annual pride streams. The character in question is literally called “The Unknown”, an urban legend type killer who was believed to steal the appearance and voices of the people it killed, a manifestation of horrifying theories. Its original design is a male appearance as it doesn’t truly have a gender, the video shows a cosmetic that turns it into an old lady; as the people in it’s lore thought it would steal the appearance of absolutely anyone it consumed. Which likely means we’re going to get a variety of different looking cosmetics in the future that are based on the appearances of the people it’s killed in it’s backstory. There is no reason for anyone to be offended by this in the slightest. If anyone who was offended took the time to understand the character for what it is supposed to be rather than view it as an offensive metaphor for trans people, this would’ve never been a big controversy, these people are quite literally fighting ghosts. It’s shameful to see the developers finally put a genuinely chilling and unnerving character in what was and still is supposed to be a horror game (something the community criticizes Behavior for often), only for people to get unjustifiably upset like this when they finally get what they want; a scary killer.
