  • I haven't played in over 50 years but it's always a treat to see a master craftsman at work.

  • It's easy to see why this is the proper way to expand these slides. It's all about taking the time to make the proper tools.

  • Your tool is very much like an adjustable barrel lap. They come in a variety of sizes. You can also turn them down on the lathe if they are close to what you need but slightly too large. Just food for thought.

  • Have you thought about investing in a bore micrometer, or a set of machinist's cylinder guages? Thet will tell you if the slide is coned in, or if the receiver is flared out

  • Those tools are great for expanding tubes, are there other tools for shrinking tubes of different sizes? Thank you so much ❤

  • Where could I talk to you about potentially sending in a cornet a while from now? 1928 Pan American, all 3 solder joints along the instrument have snapped, and its been extremely tarnished and dented (not too badly dented on the body however, no stuck slides). Instrument came in a near-junk original case that absolutely reeks but doesn't show mold, came with a plastic mouthpiece oddly enough.

  • So were the specific sizes you made not available from Feree's? I have their trumpet sized expander which works a treat.

    • I’m surprised the player didn’t want those dents pushed out. Nice job on making the tools and expanding the slide tubes. Almost makes me want to go back to playing again.
