  • Everyone is confused how they got here meanwhile I'm trying to hide all the goldfish and other similar fish type stuff I watch on KZhead under a blanket going, "haha....yea...wild...". But in seriousness I'm glad more people get to see videos like this. Often times, these small fish are treated as cheap animals who's life don't really matter, you get one as a child, pop it in some bowl, then it dies, maybe you cry for a day before moving on. It's nice to see when people care more about them. I personally have been raising my lovely goldfish, Aurum, for 5 years now, won him for 2 bucks tossing a ping pong ball into a cup of water. He's my baby, what helped me through a very bad time in my life, because if I could keep this tiny creature alive then surely I can stay alive a little longer too. So although most seem to stumble across these, maybe forgetting soon after, I hope at least a few think about stuff like this more often and give a little more kindness to these small creatures. They're just as dependent on people as any other pet, and only get as much love as you give them, so make sure it's a good helping of it:)

    • Nancy King-Hoffman if they can’t take care of their babies, they’re not gonna risk their own health to do so. if they can’t find food in nature to feed themselves and their babies with, then why keep the babies? that just risks the mother dying. many animals do that. pandas eat their cubs, hamsters eat their babies, many birds will snap the necks of their smallest chick if they end up having more than 2-3 of them. it’s nature, and it’s for survival.

  • This is so beautiful. I used to keep fish. I had a very large discus tank and a very large cichlid tank. The breeding pair of discus I had, started showing signs of mating, so I put them in their own smaller tank, away from all my other discus. I was thrilled to see the female lay eggs and the male fertilised the eggs. When the babies hatched both parents took turns in holding them in their mouths for safety. The female would periodically spit them out so she could eat, but when the male took them in his mouth, I realised he was eating them. Not a good daddy. So I put him back into the community tank and left the mumma with her 5 remaining babies. Discus fry eat the slime coating on the parents to survive. It was so sweet watching the mumma feed the babies. It was an amazing experience, watching them grow. Once they were about the size of a 20 cent piece, I put mum back into the community tank. I took care of them until they were big enough for the community tank. It was so rewarding to experience this. My African cichlids would breed all on their own. They mouth brood. The female lays her eggs and the male fertilises them, the she scoops them up in her mouth and won't eat for a month, until the babies hatch and she can spit them out. She would eat then, but periodically hold the babies in her mouth for protection. Cichlids are very good parents. They hide under rocks and stand guard over the babies, protecting them fiercely. I had many babies in my cichlid tank. It was a lovely thing to watch. See them grow and bloom. I truly miss my aquariums. I can no longer care for them, due to disabilities, so I had to sell both my tank set ups and fish. It broke my heart. I still miss them and the hobby. I didn't know there were fish that give birth to live fry. Your video is amazing. I watched it twice. What sort of fish are they? Tropical/freshwater and species? I'm an avid fan of the aquarium hobby. I'll subscribe and hope for more videos.
