    • I mean it wasn’t really lying though. It was because she’s black. There’s more that went into it but bottom line that’s what it was. It’s alienating to that poor girl to be essentially cut out of the family all due to some racist step-grandparents. It’s messed up to cater to them when the mom wasn’t even in contact with them anymore

  • also for the story where the woman told her step daughter to not be in a couple of the photos people are calling her raicst, but she was literally trying to stop a bunch of racist people from being hurtful and rude to her? She wasn't excluding her step daughter because she was black, she was excluding her step daughter to protect her feelings. and it was literally only a couple of photos that were going to a family they don't speak to. Why cause an argument over people you don't speak to over someone you love?? And that dad was in the wrong. Not for being mad, but for telling his daughter. That was an adult conversation that she should have been left out of, and he hurt her feelings out of spite. He should have worked it out with his wife instead of telling his daughter something hurtful and not even telling her the full story. Now her step daughter might think her step mom hates for something she can't control, which could leave her feeling horrible and left out for the rest of her life.

  • For the story about the mom shaving her 5 yr old daughters unibrow Honestly she isn’t the a hole because she kept saying that she was still beautiful both ways and also she was worried that she’d get bullied, because her cousins teased her which made her feel ugly so no she isn’t the a hole

    @l4marr@l4marr2 жыл бұрын
  • (1st) both are wrong. Though mostly the husband, just saying “because you’re black” is wrong. Nothing else to add there. It should never be said to a child like that, specially when they already (might) feel a disconnect from their siblings. (My cousin had that happened). As for the wife and wife’s family.. I don’t think that you should change because of family members because it hurts, but I get it. I’ve been there (related situations, not about race or ethnicity) so I know that it hurts when family has different views. However, She did the right thing in not wanting to expose a child to a harsh cruelty.

      @LowYummy@LowYummy2 жыл бұрын
  • Young kids don't understand beauty standards, but they do understand insults and the younger the kid , the more underdeveloped the social filter. They are vicious and that sort of bullying leaves deep scars that affect how the kid grows up and interacts with others. This mom did good, not bc she made her daughter more "beautiful" (that is a subjective opinion) but bc she chose her daughters personal comfort above trying to make a point about what beauty is. Her daughter was clearly distressed about how kids treated her bc of it, all her mom did was help relieving that distress. When she is older and more competent, maybe her mom can sit her down for a discussion about beauty then, but for now this was a good move imo

  • Idk why people think its ok to associate with racist family & act like its them and not you. If you still deal with them and allow them to disrespect your kids you're just as bad and you shouldn't have a interracial family in the first place if you're so afraid of what your family says that's your choice they should accept it and fk off if they don't! Also was she really protecting the child or herself? The kid doesn't know wtf is going on. The so called Mom is making excuses and sheltering her from the truth isn't helping either and the dad's explanation was shitty as well. These kids have a journey ahead of them...

And the cousins should have been checked and then asked to leave if they continued. In those moments and by cutting the unibrow you taught her 1 : that bullies are right and it's okay 2. She is only beautiful if her beauty is acceptable to society or others 3 you don't have her back and won't defend her.

    @itsmytimeJai@itsmytimeJai2 жыл бұрын
    • the parents cant check every person that bullies her in the future. Bullying can also cause trauma and low self esteem, probably more so than beauty complexes. Sure, the mother could have talked to the child first, but what parent can stand to see their child unhappy? Since she is still young, the daughter’s brow will prob grow back and then when she is older she can make a decision. childhood bullying really sticks with you. learnt from experience
