    • Did you by chance lock your knees? This is why most people faint in situations like this. My choir teacher drilled this into our heads because apparently people do it without realizing it. Personally, I'm very grateful I was taught that because I know myself, I definitely would have locked my knees and not even realized. By the way I'm so glad that you are ok. Don't get embarrassed it is life. Try to think of it this way, if it's the worst, most embarrassing thing you ever go through your incredibly lucky. I know its hard, but it makes sense. If it happened when you were a kid in front of your peers that's a different story. Kids, are absolutely cruel to each other it is horrible.

I think because all your blood pools down and leaves, the brain depleted of oxygen. Ok there is not a chance in hell I explained that medically correct but it sounds good. I am serious about locking your knees though. I'm so grateful that my choir teacher drilled this into our heads. She did because apparently people lock their knees and aren't aware they are doing it. • I agree we clap to way too many things, like the end of a movie, the people who made it aren't there! But in this case, I actually understand it. Whenever someone is sick/hurt during an event, especially sports or music events, when someone comes to help them and takes them away, we clap. You can find some interviews of injured athletes who talk about how they felt hearing an entire stadium clap and cheer for them after they got hurt. Part of it is also in response to medical professionals who come to help or escort someone. In this specific case, part is probably on the woman for managing to keep it together for so long (apparently she has type 1 diabetes and was pregnant at the time) and partially for Obama who recognized something was wrong, actually helped hold her instead of just letting the other people or his staff do it, and making a funny comment to make sure she didn't feel bad about "interrupting" and to help keep others from being too worried.

    • I've fainted twice in my life. The first time it happened it was completely out of the blue, but the second time I could sense something was wrong because my eyesight got blurrier and blurrier and I had to hold onto the wall next to me as I walked. The second time I fainted in a staircase at school, so i'm lucky I didn't fall down the stairs but I must've sat down or there were classmates behind me who caught me because they were all there when I woke up and I probably wasn't out for more than a few seconds. Real scary

    • Mine happened so slow. I was donating blood and the woman kept the tie on the entire time. When she was done, she took it off and there was almost no blood pressure in my arm and it felt like it tookan hour for me to pass out. Everything slowed down to a crawl, it was like there was cotton in my ears, and everything I saw was like static on the tv. I wasn’t able to keep my arm in the air, and the lady who took it seemed annoyed. I looked over at a table where this man was sitting and I’m not sure if I said I was going to pass out or just looked like it. I saw him jumping up from his seat and the next thing I remember was being surrounded on that chair by about 7 people. It was wild.

While many presidents tend to make complex and elongated speeches. It is a waste of everyone's time to hear someone speak for so long.

  • Don't lock your knees when standing for long periods of time. The medical name is orthostatic or postural syncope. Happens at church, graduations, weddings or at events when standing a long time. More common if one keeps the knees "locked." This pools the blood in the leg veins. A person who stands long enough in one place will faint.
