  • This is the best way to teach pronunciation. When she uses the English language equivalent of each letter, it strips away the mystery and shows you already know how to pronounce the letter based on a word in which you already use it.

  • That was amazing. Now I can read cyrillic after just 26 minutes. I thought it would take months of practice but this was simple, fast & straight to the point. Even if I don't pronounce the words correctly, I at least know the letters & sounds. You definitely have a new subscriber. Thank you.

    • Good practice is to listen to audio minimal pairs with these 2 sounds and train your ear.

    • The sound is similar but Щ start with a S. Something like that. The google translater help a lot. You tipe de letter Щ, then clik the button hear\listen. Repeat for Ш .

    • It took a while for me as well. The key for me was two words - shoe (ш) and sheep (щ). Say the two words slowly, exaggerating the sh sound at the beginning and note carefully how your mouth naturally forms to start to say each word. You'll notice that your lips and teeth are in different positions for each and the щ sound for sheep sounds higher pitched. Hopefully this will help you. I still have problems with ы. I can do it OK on its own, but in the middle of words I have trouble. It will come with practice!

    • I've found that having taken a class in linguistics really helps me differentiate between the more similar-sounding letters and vowel sounds. A lot of it has to do with mouth shape and tongue placement.

  • It's the tricky consonant sounds and modifiers that people seem to struggle with. I like the way you use simple melodic references as a mnemonic. Now I can see how the modifiers shape the sounds. Thanks for your video!
