Kovacic controlled the midfield. He was aggressive in the press, energetic in the challenge and displayed some smart, one-touch passing as the Blues’ built their attacks.

It might have been a mutual decision as Kovacic wanted play time which at that year and age was hard for him to do at Real Madrid given both Modric and Kroos were at their Prime, I mean look even now 5 years later they're still considered Starters or Main 11 (Modric and Kroos)

Doku is in form when Foden Silva and De Bruyne are off the pitch, when they are on they don't give him enough touches they only pass to him when he's in front of them. That's why he seems as not in form most of the time

Kovacic always had the potential to be the best midfielder in the world. The greatest talent Croatia has ever produced, surpassing even Modric. The way he breaks the ranks of the opposition, carries the ball. He passes like Modric and runs with the ball as Kaká, but unfortunately he has always had some mental block, where he is to careful to try taking a risk, to shoot. Almost. everytime he does try, he makes it look so easy. He has always only played with 50 % of his potential. If he can unlock just 10-20 % more mentally, he will be insane.

We haven't taken time to appreciate our Purchases this season,Pep has got them 100% accurate,Doku,Kovacic,Gvardiol,Nunez(still yet to hit top form,But always involved in goals as he creates chances in every game) We have got to appreciate Pep he is a genius at everything,We can win anything if we have Croatians in our team,He took that myth and made it a reality,Croatians are serial winners 🏆 ✨️
One major underrated aspect about Pep Guardiola is how he makes players adapt to positions that are clearly out of their comfort zones. Gvardiol who is naturally a CB often plays as LB for City, Ake who is also naturally a CB plays LB, Akanji playing RB and at times Cdm alongside Rodri. John Stones has played both LB and RB in the past seasons under Pep and now plays as a make-shift Cdm when City have possession. City's midfielders and forwards have also played a variety of positions under Pep with the exception of Haaland. Pep is truly a Genius. Watching City play, you would think that every player is playing their natural position given how fluid City's football is. Pep is the GOAT manager, in my opinion.
i just can't wait for Pepe to try out Josko in CB especially in the Stones role, I'd the only thing holding him back for now would be his age as unlike Stones he still needs time to mature on and off the ball through awareness to danger, knowing when to attack and defend.
