  • This is very informative. I love to know about how ONE got his inspiration to write and draw these amazing webcomics and mangas. The fact that his desire to become a mangaka was from reading shin chan 🤣 i just love his humor so much

    • As someone who grew up with Shin Chan on tv, I can assure you that the humor was unlike anything around (compare it to like, Inuyasha or Medabots or whatever) t and the badly drawn characters had a style of their own that made them appealing. My guess is that's the part ONE took as inspiration.

When i was little, shin chan and doraemon were the shows kids in my country watched growing up. i was so confused as to why shin chan kept on showing his butt around and wriggles all over the place. But the show is just so fun and has that unique humor that makes it entertaining. Love that ONE finds some inspiration to become a mangaka from a show that has become a childhood memory for most people

  • ONE's artstyle is the *only* part that one might consider lacking, though at this point it might as well be a deliberate stylistic choice. His storytelling chops, gags, designs, and characters are all top notch. But for my money, what sets him apart is his storyboarding ability. His ability to frame scenes and create flow is among the best in the industry imo.

    • This just reinforced my belief that story matters more than the quality of the art and don’t get me wrong having great art to compliment the story is nice but if the story is uninteresting or mediocre then I’m more likely to give up on that manga or anime and go looking for something else that is more compelling This same belief goes for games as well the game maybe a triple A game but if it’s boring I start playing other game

  • The best thing ONE achieved is to create a story that genuinely fits to his artstyle, like this is a gag manga, ofc with superpowers and cool characters but having humor playing the biggest role, his drawings were still good enough to support the story, it even helped in making the humor better. This combination of specific artstyle with specific type of story is what truly matters the most. You don't need to have insane drawing skills to attract people's attention, you need to come up with a story that fits to your artstyle the best.

  • The fact that OPM even got enough attention to be redrawn speaks volumes of ONE's skill as a creator. I'm so happy that man has found success. He deserves every bit of it. Not one, but TWO comics from a guy who started out online all on his own getting extremely popular anime adaptations? And then MP100 didn't even get redrawn. ONE has always been stellar at composition and visual storytelling (which are just as important as more immediately obvious aspects of art, and often more difficult to pull off), so once his art leveled up just enough to be more confident and consistent, everything was golden. MP100 is a gem and I love how Bones maintained so many elements of the original art style (that got lost in translation with OPM) when adapting it. Plus he seems like such a good guy. I feel like he lets his personality, thoughts, and ideals shine through in his works, and there's so much genuineness in the messaging (especially in MP100) that it really hits home. Love him.
