Several generations in the future following Caesar's reign, apes are now the dominant species and live harmoniously while humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.

I love that the apes’ symbol seems to be (or have been) Caesar’s bedroom window. What I find fascinating about that is that the apes hate and subjugate humans, yet their symbol was designed by their founder as a means of recalling the comfort and love that he received from his very human family. I stand to be corrected about it being their symbol, but there seems to be a nice layer of irony being presented here. looks like a great movie.
Christians have adopted the cross as a symbol of their faith, an object made/used by Christ’s tormentors. After a couple hundred years what the symbol means to the party is more important than where the symbol originally came from.
@@carltontaylor6500 Excellent point, and salient analogy. It feels like the kind of thing Derrida might want to weigh in on… as in, just ruminating on how symbols eventually become detached from what they originally signified and develop a kind of intrinsic meaning instead of just referring to something else that has meaning. Thanks for the thoughtful reply.
I as well want to pitch in on symbolism, the nazi party symbol of the swastika actually belonged to I think a Buddhist group that originally meant wellbeing and good fortune. It is crazy that after 700 years or so, the nazi party had twisted that message of kindness into something more wretched. How a symbol intended for betterment ended being used for their own self gain. Kinda like the symbolism of Caeser’s window. Proximus I am guessing took its meaning and changed it, while it actually symbolizes caeser’s roots with his human family. It is crazy to notice the parallels between these two groups of Proximus and The Nazi Party. Because you can see both of their reasoning, Hitler chose the swastika probably because it meant that it would give good fortune to the future of Germany (It Backfired Hard) and Proximus did that as well, interpreting Caeser’s message and warping it his own way.
@@Mr_The_Meh yes, the Nazi symbol means love in India. Hindus and Buddhists in India hate how the germans perverted a beautiful symbol. After seeing the movie, I think this is the major theme that runs across through it. There are other themes but this is the strongest to me. Right from the get-go the gorilla burns and kills other apes while yelling "For Caesar." Caesar always believed ape not kill ape, yet here we are, apes killing apes.

It's a shame this trilogy can't lead somewhat into the original 1968 movie, however, there would need to be a major timejump of approx 3000 years for that to happen.
It’s a reboot, not a remake. Let it be its own thing please.
I hope there will be 3000 years of leap in the universe of these movies.
I'm glad it won't. If it did then we know what's coming. I'd rather be surprised by new things instead of an ending we've already seen
I used to watch the series in the 70's on Sunday nights.
My theory - The woman is a crewmember of Prometheus recently returned to earth. She speaks way too well, and her mannerisms are not those of the other humans. She's the 'bright eyes' of this universe
What if there has been a established Martian or moon colony be like in this fictional movie tho
agree
Now that I've watched War (finally), I am as caught up as anyone, this day before the early release drops... the Colonel, ironically, was the only one who could have saved humanity... and he was infected and killed himself. It is possible that some humans (0.00001%) never got infected by the viral mutation... BUT, you're right, she does speak too well... so here's my theory, with respect to the originals. She mentions a "human place" that Proximus takes over. I'm guessing this place is the one from Beneath the Planet of the Apes, where the nuclear weapons are stored, where the human colony lives underground in bunkers and still speaks. They never came into contact with the mutated virus, they can speak and/or cured it by science, as the US Army had advocated possible before going into battle against the Colonel. She is immune to its mutation and is one of many spies who goes above ground to make sure the apes don't find them. Proximus probably doesn't know that there are nuclear weapons down there, but he knows from legend and, perhaps, interrogating spies or finding other forms of technology that human innovation is still alive and well somewhere. God forbid he gets nuclear weapons, otherwise he truly will be the King of the Planet of the Apes (and he won't, if the originals are still canon in this reboot).
You may be onto something there, her clothing looks like an astronauts leisure suit, maybe a ship did crash land back on earth and she is one of their children or something, hence the cognitive level shown compared to the other humans, got to be some sort of lead in for another movie where this time the apes travel and end up back in a world controlled by humans.
at the end of movie, she return to satelite facility and inside bunker many human work on something to restore satelite to communicate with other survivor humans around across the globe, she return with hard disk or i dont know what that red thing is
THe characters look sensational. They've always looked great but this is next level.

It would be cool to continue this series of movies until Apes evolve into humans and become what they hate the most
Exactly
I mean that's kinda the point of planet of the apes in away, that they have become the human and we have become the animal.
Imagine the apes ruling the planet for 5k years and then asking themselves who built the *"liberty statue 🗽"* and what was it's use? Same thing happening now with humans asking for who built the pyramids and it's use
The Egyptians built the pyramids and they were used as tombs for Pharaohs.
they look at it, oh, a copper emotional piece of history, and not one ape knows that it was for storing food.
The statue of liberty was in the forbidden zone. For a reason. Only the religious elite knew and kept it hidden.
I grew up in the 60's & 70's and I remember the original Planet of the Apes with Charlton Heston... It was an festinating concept at the time and I do remember the movie scared me when I was a kid... I will say the technology as seriously improved.
Anyone else notice throughout the movies the apes talk better and better as in getting smarter and smarter? Ceasars eyes looking human in the last movie. Now in this one the apes are talking perfect English and sound very crisp and clear words. They must be really smart by now. I love that little detail in this franchise that could be overlooked

Watching this trailer is like watching that one ape movie trailer in GTA V
Whatever you do don't stick your penis in it. Why I want to do that?
For once I'd like to see the film writers get smart enough to acknowledge in the movies that the apes metabolism would be so incredibly high to keep both the large brain and strength alive that they'd pretty much have to be eating a herd of animals every day just to survive. They would probably need 200% - 250% more caloric intake than a human.
Their brains did not grow in the lore and thats not how intelligence works. Apes already have a big brain to body size ratio
What I'm waiting to find out is not just that she can speak, but speaks fluent American English. In a world where, supposedly, humans don't vocalize. Sooo...she not only didn't have that trait or whatever, but also happened to be raised in an environment where there was not only consistent pre-virus language used, but some level of training/teaching going on. Some pocket of talking humans? Was she raised by enlightened apes (and she just so happened to have the capacity to speak). Or are we going to find out that humans have the capacity to speak but, in addition to the general issues with pervasive societal disintegration, there's not the innate propensity to do so. That they need some directed prompting and training, but can ultimately do so, and more proficiently if said training begins at a young age. Sort of like how it is now when learning a language other than your native one. I hadn't seen any of these movies, apart from the 1st, and wasn't planning to see this one, but this scene has me so curious as to how they are going to handle it, and the ramifications that holds for the franchise going forward. Plus I'm also looking forward to the "Taylor" astronaut returning to Earth, assuming they include that storyline, or their version of it.
Simple, she watched a lot of TV and learned American English from there.

I saw the 1st reboot back in 2000 or whenever it had been released; it was all right. Are these past reboots really worth watching? I mean, the CGI is a nice touch, but what about an actual "story"...??? Still, I guess---take it for what it's worth. It isn't 2001: A Space Odyssey, that's for sure.
