  • Pole isn’t the last that’s gonna fold this year I think. The amount of people who can afford $10,000 bikes is shrinking rapidly.

    • Lots of people can afford a $10.000 bike. The problem is its a bicycle and if you look at expensive ones their is no value in them. My 3 bikes cost $8000/$10.000/$10.000 NZD. They are custom for me but have little value for other people.

  • Further to my last comment - it concerns me that there are a lot of people out there like myself that have lost enormous amounts of money on undelivered orders (which Leo didn't address), yet the site is STILL live now on the 18th April and still probably taking orders ... Where's the holding page with a message from Leo??? This simply isn't acceptable. More people will lose their hard earned cash. 😠

  • Unfortunately, as exciting and capable as these bikes were in the eMTB market. You have to question the operating ethics of some or all of the people involved. They were happy to take my deposit 2 months ago, customer support playing along with my enquiries about where my order was, instead of refunding me. Most notably, Chris Wright, their UK representative was pushing me to pay the full remaining balance "in order to secure a manufacturing slot" as late as March 27th. I recommend you all keep your eyes open for where such people land their next job in the bike industry and be extremely wary

  • Wow, that's really sad and shocking to hear. Especially after your recent video about the UK hub, and appearances that Pole was expanding. I could only imagine what Leo put into this company, and how hard it must be to let go. I've always loved their small unique style, and having a bike from Finland is pretty cool. Their engineering and manufacturing methods are second to none. When I first saw Rob's review I knew I had to have the Voima. It just made so much sense for the East Coast US to have a bike with tons of travel, a strong Bosch motor, and a high bottom bracket. ... Hopefully some miracle comes along where someone purchases the company, keeps Leo on as lead engineer, and the rest of the team as well. Maybe wishful thinking. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but it's a shame that they were unable to make it work despite impressive growth. Leo is right; people are really getting crunched financially, our purchasing power is getting reduced by the minute, and the world is pretty unstable in general. Too bad he can't print endless money like the US government does. I always felt they struggled to get significantly positive press in the bike industry; something that I consider essential, especially for a small brand that is direct to consumer. I'm sure Leo can get hired but someone, but maybe not a bicycle industry in Finland, and undoubtedly many jobs will be lost. ... From a selfish perspective I'm sitting on a very expensive bike that I am still paying off, with a clear drop in value, even beyond what is already the case for a boutique bike in today's world. Hopefully there is still a chance to pickup some parts like bearings and maybe a swingarm for my Voima. If anything goes significantly wrong many customers will be sitting on a useless hunk of metal that cost several thousand dollars for just the frame. I'm not even sure what frame I could use the parts on, with such massive travel and all. I'm not blaming anyone, it's just legitimately a problem. ... It has been great to have an identity in Pole bicycles, an awesome CEO who is a heck of a racer, and a super loyal and helpful customer base. Fingers crossed and best wishes to everyone at Pole.

  • Such a difficult thing in a man's life to see happen. I've been through so many job losses that things have reached a cumulative effect, but never owned or operated a business. It's my hope some inspiration comes to him and he's able to take on a profitable venture sooner than later.

  • At some point life brings us to our knees, if you've not had that experience, I pray your fortune continues, but its life, hard times will come to us all. thats how we are humbled before God and its from that humility and adversity that we rise stronger than before. The talent and progression made by Pole speaks for itself. This is the end of Act 1, Act 2 will be different but im betting on better. Have faith, God bless

  • Insolvency is not always the end. If restructuring can be carried out and the creditors can be satisfied with a sufficient quota like 20-25%, a company can certainly survive and start again. Insolvency due to a lack of equity is of course a different matter. In any case, I wish Pole all the best.

  • Obviously sad...I mean devastating!...I own a pole voima since September 22...the bike is a piece of engineering art and performs beyond expectation (especially after several upgrades like: ZEB ultimate, Öhlins TTX rear shock and GX transmission...etc.)...its a joy to ride and own it-in that sense it is really a shame that it appears that pole has to call the quits 😞. I do see a market for the bikes in the future and keep my fingers crossed, that we will see a resurrection soon (would be also be nice to maintain my guarantee, in particular, in regard to the design flaw of the swing arm)...at least I would buy a Pole again!!! I also feel very sorry for customers who paid without delivery-my condolences...I hope there is a chance to solve this. Communication/customer service was always an issue with pole...may voima came with a delay of approx 3,5 month...the process was pretty painful until the bike finally arrived...in that sense I feel with the customers beyond the possible loss of money but the loss of the joyful experience to ride the bike. Concerning Leo: I do understand that a lot of people who appear to loose money (lets hope that they finally get their bike or at least a refund-guess that might be part of the insolvency process that accounts payable might be served at least partially) are pissed off, nevertheless, I do not assume criminal energy behind the current situation. For sure he is a bright mind and visionary-lets hope there will be a solution to refund the disappointed customers as well as Leo might be able to continue to design built and sell beautiful bikes. Cheers

  • Anyone else notice some comments are being deleted ? Two of have mine have gone. They were just outlining the facts. There would be zero reason for KZhead to delete them, as there was zero socio-political comment, just the facts of my order, the timing of it and the messaging I got from the staff. You've got to ask yourself who is parsing the comments and why !

    • I have not deleted a single comment on this video. Sometimes KZhead may auto hold comments - if there is any personally information, or a few other criteria, may trigger it. But I am the only one who has access to comments and I’ve not removed anything.

  • Part of the problem was the Covid turmoil where everyone bought bikes due to boredom to then realise that it takes a ton of time to develop the skills and endurance to enjoy MTBing as now the market is flooded with practically brand new , used bikes as most of these people quit after 2 or 3 rides. The other problem that nobody seems to mention is that E-Bikes are taking over as the average American is lazy these days. Residing in the small city of Manchester NH , where I ride through the city and all the local rail trails about 4-5 times a week to build up endurance for my bike packing and mountain biking adventures. I've noticed that about 50% of people are now riding E-bikes . The majority of the E-bikes that I see are not quality bike store bikes , as most are cheap Amazon E-bikes. Suspension bikes are also highly overpriced to the point of highway robbery, since you can get a brand new HONDA 250f Dirt Bike for $5,000, which requires considerably more material, parts, and labor to produce. They're also heavy and shipped in a wooden box crate, which isn't cheap. There's no full suspension bike on the planet that should cost more than $5,000, unless it is a one-of-a-kind custom frame build as MTB'ers have fallen victim to marketing. For example , why does one aluminum seatpost cost $35 and the other $150? Is it special Aluminum mined from the moon? No it has a fancy brand name and consumers think it'll make you go faster due to being brainwashed by marketing.
