I think that's especially true if you can accept the anxiety as part of the process, as the thing that keeps you focused and gives you the energy to make things better. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures. This mental health treatment works for me too. Half micro doses do the trick for me. At least a few days at a time with lengthy time in between. Thank you for sharing this point!

  • I have GAD and this is fascinating! So it really is a superpower in that because I have thought of every scenario, I am VERY prepared at work and I'm able to keep others on task. I can't speak for him, but the points in which Jesse seems disoriented or realizes he may be off task remind me of GAD brain I get. Since some areas of the brain are overactive and sympathetic nervous system activation means blood increases to organs and executive functioning is decreased, it can mess with memory. That's really in more severe moments or "flare ups." There's also an interesting scenario where memories can be recorded in a different version of reality - more hostile if you may be in a state of anxiety. It's good to have a trusted colleague to check in with to see if you'd committed a more hostile version of reality to memory than what actually happened. Learning about anxiety and how it affects the brain/body is very freeing to take off some of the blame of some symptoms that cannot be helped. Creativity is AMAZING for those with GAD because expression feels like a release of pent up energy. And I do think those with an anxiety disorder often have more empathy which, in the right workplace, can mean MUCH better leadership. The candid-ness I see in Jesse also is something I experience and it works to my advantage when people see me as a non-judgmental person who will not get upset with them if they tell me what's going on with them. Anxiety disorders were often born out of a necessary reason to cope. They CAN serve us well, but control and knowing how it personally affects you is important. Jesse really seems to have an understanding of his own circumstance and that's the best place to be at!

His humility leaves space for others to flourish, which is something you rarely see advocated for "succesful leaders". People like Jesse usually feel like they hardly have an interesting story to tell and most media platforms thrive on sensational storytellers, so I'd love to know what led to this production.

Its goog that he was able to harness the negative in a ‘productive’ way, but all the negative self talk, etc. leads to all the self hatred, anxiety, and misery. Though he found a way to make a positive out of the negative, all that negativity is still there and you cant fix it and get to a more content place in life untill you learn about it, descover all the facets of life it has made difficult for you, and treat it. I hope he is able to do so, for his own health and happiness.

I’m starting to understand that my anxiety is actually indicating something to me: it shows me that something needs to be addressed, or something should make me anxious because it’s wrong, or it generally increases my due diligence about important things or topics. There are also times I understand that my anxiety is something that I just have to look inside and to God about to do the inner work and even talk to someone to heal a previous trauma wound or fear. All in all - this video is helping me unlock the potential of my anxiety and seeing it as a transformative point of strength so thank you! I would love to meet you or interview you some how. • While I think there is definitely something to reframing your anxieties productively, I've found one of the best motivators to be deep love and passion. Anxieties can wane and diminish when you get better at your work, but love is consistent. To renew lost anxieties, artists push themselves to new heights to feel scared \again, while loving the art you produce naturally demands the best you can bring at every stage.

    • Interesting. I wonder if deep love and passion is more accurately describe as inspiration rather than motivation. Motivation does seem to fit best within the context of anxiety, lack of purpose and may be even depression. On the other hand, inspiration does seem to be a better fit to passion and love. I sometimes wonder if it is intrinsically human to motivate ourselves and others? I also wonder if inspiration implies a touch of the divine in it? Inspiration = in spirit?

  • I don't like anxiety. Even though I'm thankful for his message, listening to him brought anxiety. Living in a state of anxiety does not seem healthy to me. In fact, the other side of the coin here is that anxiety covers a lack of confidence and, to some degree, a lack of self esteem. His stories can all be reframed in the angle of confidence (or lack thereof). I really think you must balance anxiety with confidence and vice versa so you find an equilibrium where you strive and where you are happy. His learning experience of his new leadership position reflects just that.
