  • These are Humboldt Squid or Diamond squid, not Giant squid. Giant squid are much larger and taste less edible. これはダイオウイカではなくアメリカオオアカイカ、もしくはソデイカ。ダイオウイカはもっと大きいし、まずくて食用にはされない。

    • @@finalresultus Giant squid contains ammonium chloride to give it buoyancy, and is generally not eaten. Even we Japanese, who eat the most squid in the world, do not eat giant squid. However, there seem to be some people who eat it out of curiosity.

  • Looks like Humboldt Squid aka Red Devils, terrifying creatures. There are stories of them taking fishermen in small boats overboard by pulling on the ropes (because these fishermen don’t have cranes), and the fishermen never come back up.

  • I'm just a blue collar worker, but my uneducated mind, thinks that the squid fishery is sustainable. Especially since species like the Humboldt Squid are full grown in 1-2 years and can reach sizes up to 100lbs +/- (45kg+/-).

  • Why make them into rings like that? Seems very wastefull. These are not Giant Squid. These are called Humboldt Squid. You DO NOT want to find yourself in the water with these invertebrates. Theyll tear your ass to shreds.

  • Modern day slave ship speaking for the fishermen... horrible pay, gruesome hours, unsanitary living quarters, out to sea for months at a time, not to mention dangerous work conditions being tossed around by the sea with hydraulic reels constantly spinning, narrow gangplanks, and the list goes on. These guys are the real hero's, so next time you take eating squid for granted, just remember how it got there and take a moment to appreciate.

  • Disgusting , this is not fishing this is commercial catching , until they can actually be farmed for commercial use it should not be Allowed. It’s Especially not good for the seas food chain. But as always humans will find a way to make money from a beautiful animal and exploit it until they are all gone and then move on to the next species. Like I said disgusting behaviour 😢
