A log cabin saved me from a blizzard.

The blizzard took me by surprise. I'm not ready for the cold, my clothes are very simple. The snow was stuffed into my shoes. I tried to wait out the snowstorm under the spruce, but I started to freeze. And then a miracle happened! On the way, I saw the outline of a wooden hut. It turned out to be an old house . Here I waited out the blizzard, ate and warmed up by the warm stove!

  • I was just about to freeze to death, but I was still busily putting my camera out for my youtube video because that's more important than death. Suddenly, lo and behold, there was a log cabin in front of me. Where did that come from?

Thankfully I look through my backpack and I too found a sizeable hack saw, axe, plenty of chicken with seasoning and olive oil. When I came across the fully charged drone, I knew I was truly blessed. What a load of old bollocks.

  • Shalom Aleichem. I have a few questions I've always wanted to ask you guys who stay at log cabins in the middle of nowhere during snow / ice storms. 1). Why is it you only cut enough wood for a few hours when since you nothing but time on your hand you don't start a fire and keep cutting. I mean if a full blown blizzard hits and one can't see 12" in front of one's face, the time for cutting more wood is gone. If the blizzard lasts for several days and you run outta wood, you're screwed. 2). You got a fire going so you can heat up the interior of the cabin, YET you leave the door WIDE open! Isn't that defeating the purpose? I an my lady several year's back in upstate New York faced a similar situation an we stumbled upon an old shed that had a wood stove in it. Two windows were broken an I had to make some makeshift coverings for them that worked. We cut and split enough wood in several hours that lasted us almost three day's, which helped immensely. We had a weeks worth of dried meat and other food's & melted (clean top) snow and ice for our water needs w/o tapping into what we normally carry. I watch a lot of these survival video's an am amazed at the amount of waste I see some of these hikers do. Ratson haba b'shem YaHuah

  • There is nothing wrong with filming a video in the woods at a cabin but the title is very misleading and deceptive. It makes it sound like you were out hiking one day when bad weather suddenly moved in quickly and caught you off guard and then by the grace of God you stumbled upon a very cozy cabin unlocked just waiting for you to escape the harsh elements of a blizzard from. And just happened to have a great meal along, etc. Let's be honest. It's your cabin and you planned this trip (along with your photographer friend) on a day when you knew the weather would be bad. Just tell the truth.

  • I don’t know what people are talking about… when I go hiking in the winter, I ALWAYS take my wok in my backpack AND put my saw in it as well. Also, who doesn’t eat raw chicken. Lucky you found that cabin though. You were poorly underdressed and under prepared otherwise.

  • I've watched far too many horror films. Would not sleep until the blinds are closed on the windows. This open plan look would make me nervous.

  • How was the fire going with smoke from the chimney and then it wasn’t when you were making kindling? An external fire place, oh and do close the door and pack a small amount of fire starter shavings in that backpack.

  • WHY don't you keep the door closed ???? So the cabin can get warm . 😮 nothing is making any sense here .

    • Probably more than 1 reason. To get more light in so he can see better until he gets the fire going real good, 2 is probably so he can get some fresh air in there, one never knows how long it was closed up and it might smell a bit musty, 3 the fresh air will probably help with getting the fire going real good. These ar only just my thoughts.
