When you find yourself in a journaling slump and happen to be a perfectionist, it can be incredibly hard to climb out of. Feeling guilt around not journaling enough or being afraid to make a mistake can keep you from enjoying a hobby that you really used to! In this video I cover my tried and true ways of how I gather journaling inspiration to pick up a pen and write or collage in my journals after some time away. I hope you find them helpful!

  • Thank you for this video! I really like that you put out a caveat before suggesting to buy new supplies even though this is a sponsored video. Another thing that helps me is to remind myself that there is no absolute right or wrong way to journal. While it may not be advisable to journal about negative things only (because that way, you’re committing them to your memory more firmly and is that really helpful?), there are lots of different journalling styles-both in terms of what you write about and in terms of whether (and in which way) you want to decorate your journals. As an example: For the longest time, I thought I needed to write introspective things in my journal. Now I realize that was probably why I fell off journalling time and time again. Being introspective in writing about myself just isn’t my thing. After reading a book on different styles of diary writing, I understood that I’m a chronicler-I mostly write about what happened that day and which people I met. There’s sometimes a reflective sentence or two, but that’s it. I’ve been journalling continuously for almost three years now, and I believe that’s the longest streak I ever managed to achieve.

    • Thank you so much for your insightful comment! I 10000% agree. There’s no right or wrong way and it’s about finding what works best for you! It sounds like you’ve found what works for how you like to journal which is amazing 🤩 And thank you - I am a BA for Leuchtturm1917 because I really love their products but I never want people to buy from me if they already have things to use. If they’re looking for a journal or planner then great! If not, no pressure 😊 Thanks for being here Jess! 💕
