Try original AoE or AoE DE, online games almost never go past tool age, and if they do it is very inexperienced players

I mean a first 5 minute build order video is going to take longer than 5 minutes because you explain how and why it works... In football they can take a 15 second play and spend an hour on it.

More stuff with hera! He explains the build and logic behind it quite well and I enjoy his personality in videos, be it in this interview style video or as a teampartner with viper! Hera is SO cool!! My question is if this is the 'optimal' way to play Lithuanians? Should this be the standard opening for the civ like mongol scouts or aztec drush? Seems like you sacrifice (almost) nothing, you have constant vils *and* army!! WOW

just camp one of their boars if they all out wall, if you block the villager from lurring it, it is basically a boar less in dark age, or they'll have to send a lot of vills forward to deal with it, another type of damage.

@@prathameshvaidya It's the opposite. The bigger the map the less the proportional distance to the enemy. A flank/wing can reach the enemy flank much faster in 4v4 than 2v2.
Yeah, the Polish-Lithuanian Empire in action would be nice. Furthermore, the civs would theoretically work great. Except for the fact neither has good archers, but the Lithuanian cav archers at least are fully upgraded, so they can help in the late game. Don't forget both would synergize great in the Monks district.

Mentioned here already: Slavs: Military production buildings (except Castles and Kreposts) provide +5 population. Slavs could make a decent ally for this rush. Like in a real life.

I got absolutely bodied by this yesterday, so I had to come back and watch this again. Will try it for myself
I set my TC gather point on a straggler tree for my first created villager. It will shop simultanously with the two house builders so you get 30 wood in at once for your house, without force drop-offs. Then catch up food harvesting.

My opponents would never back down from a 1 spear vs 3 scouts. Wish I had that luck.
Late response, but hopefully a insightfull one: if it was 3 scouts vs 1 spear he wouldn't have left, it was 3 scouts against 2 villagers and a spearman. Yes 90% of the age playerbase would have kept on fighting, either because they thought it was a good fight or because they were busy somewhere around the map. But the top 10% of players reconise the militairy numbers advantage through the whole game. Yes you might have taken a villager down, but you just lost 3 scouts and 240 food, meaning if the fight is anywhere near equal the spearman player should have a militairy advantage by now (not losing militairy or 1 spearman) and will now come for your base. Now you will be forced to defend, make less optimal plays etc.. if you disengage and keep your scouts active around the enemys base they will make your opponent do so. And if you would change this situation to hera making scouts instead of archers it would mean hera would have a scouts advantage, making every fight the opponent would try to take being outnumbered and therefore most likely to lose.
This is rather BRILLIANT! HERA has seen a funny little difference for one Civ and said to himself "Hmmmm, how can I make that work for me?" The forced drops and being able to manage all Workers so well, just means that non-players like me can only admire...... 🤔

A very delicate balance on the dangerous scout and build up our own economy back on TC. Usually I got raided myself as opponent went for Feudal Age faster.
Hera. Quite fitting as Hera in Greek allegedly strikes everybody out of jealousy
I applied this a several times when I started playing online and if you can get good damage (800-1000 ELO) the opponent will reach feudal much later and you can follow with tower rush. A top playing will not delay much feudal time so that's much harder. As a ~900 ELO player myself I say it is really hard to not have idle TC.
Hey @Spirit Of The Law, could you do a more comprehensive look at the new khmer farming bonus? You didn't factor in multiple layers of farms stacked in the control or the wood savings due to not needing to build more mills.

Here´s the Order in Text form for people wanting to try it: 2 build house, 1 build barracks (instantly order 2 militias) Builder vills on wood. next vills on sheep When you have 25 wood on lumberjacks, force dropoff to build a house. Keep 2 on wood and house building After 2nd militia, make normal start (6 on food, 4 on wood, lure boar etc.)

I played versus a guy using that strat 2 hours ago. I think he saw this vid. I never clicked loom so panickly. At last i gained by killing the milicia fast after loom and then pressure with archers.

Yes, but it's not strategically viable.
No, because the bonus is viable with extra food. Japanese bonus saves extra wood which means you will be short on resources to keep pumping vills and 2 militia.

yes you can kill it but it's not worth it. if I remember correctly you should take the fight with 4 scouts
@@shafoz nah just watched it recently 3 scouts is fine, you're still left with three but one will have lost about 75% health. 4 is definitely much better though. Another thing Sotl said in that vid iirc was that you should count the total health of the scouts, not the number, so having an injured scout among the three makes it more like 2 scouts, so going for the attack may not be worth it.
You CAN fight it, but why? There is a spear and two vills; if you target the spear you just likely lose a scout or two and won't get any vills (the vills can fight along with the spear, as Hera did) while if you attack the vills your scouts die to the spear and the vill running to the TC. In competetive AOE it's more about not throwing army and interrupting your opponent's build than it is about always picking off a vill
Spirit, not sure you'll see this, but I have a question I was hoping you could answer. Would there be any benefit to your economy in the long term to fast imp w/ 1 TC instead of booming in Castle Age because you get to those sweet imperial eco upgrades sooner? You would still boom ofc but only after you grab the better eco upgrades in Imp. This is assuming of course you are a pocket player in a team game or on black forest where you are completely protected. Thanks!
In case you are still interested: no it is not worth it. Aside from fast imperial only being possible on extremely wallable maps your question is if the eco techs will make up for not booming more TC's. The Imperial eco techs are the least impactfull of all techts (wood gathering being +10% instead of +20% like the previous 2 gave) and most civs lack one of the imperial eco techs, making it not increase at all. Add to this that there is no imperial TC eco buff (no cart alike upgrade) and Imperial age isn't known for economical advantages. Imperial age is all about getting powerhouse units and castle defeating siege equipment. That said more militairy numbers will (almost) always win against a less amoun of upgraded ones.
