Beats P4P no1 as p4p no. 2. What expectations he met or hadn't met, shouldn't matter, doesn't matter.
I felt Islam’s weight cut wasn't ideal. And unlike the usual 30+ hours to rehydrate, Islam only 24 hours. And there's a video of him arriving on the bus to the fight but he doesn't look fresh, 1st thing he ask Javier “coach how was your sleep?”. So its also possible he didn't have a good sleep. I believe these factors effected his fight performance tonight. But ofcouse Volk was amazing tonight, both P4P best nullified each other's strengths. Awesome fight!
i mean 24 hours is more than enough.. and if the weight cut is too much, he should go to welterweight
@serkomaani4346 it was 12hrs less than the normal time, he cuts more water weight than volk, ufc confitmed that volk was 2pounds heavier,volk was bulking, also in an interview with brendan schaub volk said he weighs 168 to 170 during fightnight at featherweight he farther said he was heavier than Dan hooker so volk ain't a real fw he also fought at middleweight at the start of his career
Islam was p4p #2 amd alex was #1 they then had a fight in which islam clearly outstruck him, out manoeuvred him in the clinch and barely out grappled him. HE IS the better fighter. If alex thought he wasn't good at lightweight then he shouldn't have moved up.
That's my thought exactly. Volk MOVED UP to fight Islam. He wasn't plucked out of his division and thrown into lightweight. He agreed to a fight at a certain weight, just like everyone else.
100% Agreed Islam won the fight 4 to 1. Also the notion that alex was small is false he had months to bulk up which he did and looked bigger. Islam just looked like the taller guy. Islam had the least amount of time to rehydrate that he’s ever had which also 100% impacted him. Also i thought Alex used to be 2000,0000,0000 pound rugby player now after the fight he is just a little featherweight who was supposed to get squashed like a bug. Also he didn’t lose the striking due to height disadvantage lol. Of course that plays a factor but he beat Max 3 times who was the taller guy. And No lol Alex does not have better skills. Islam had more takedowns landed the better shots. Alex had 0 takedowns and lost in striking. People watching Alex defend and get up from Islam takedowns got them saying that he has better grappling and that is laughable. Islam is the more skilled fighter by far and it was clear if you go back and watch the fight. Beat him striking, grappling. All Alex did was defend the takedowns and ate better shots also ate nasty knees. And clearly lost
On the topic of weight; Islam did NOT look bigger than Volk in this fight, taller sure, but not bigger. What Volk lacked in height he made up in width, he was like a block of pure muscle. They were very evenly matched in terms of raw strength. What some pros said about Volk retaining his muscle memory due to his days as a big rugby player and from his days fighting at middleweight and welterweight, proved to be true.
And on height; Volk fought Max, who is taller than Islam.
you're insane, he looked just as muscular if not more, while being significantly taller. He weighed way more in the cage.
@@samyakjain777 Islam looks more muscular to you because he was leaner, but it was Volk who had more dense muscle. Just like world strongmen, their body doesn't look like Islam's, they look like Volk’s.
How did he outgrapple islam when islam had 4 takedowns and volk had zero, islam had more control time also
he outperformed expectations in the grappling department.
Also Islam should never give Alex the rematch. Islam flew to Australia, won gained nothing from this fight and got more hate than ever. What does he have to gain from the rematch knowing he would never get the respect unless he squashes Alex. Like there is no Win for Islam in this.
Probably, i know one thing. Its not Jon Jones. Cant be considered best pound for pound with multiple dirty blood tests after fights.

I'm Aussie...so Alex knocking down Islam, mounting him, ground and pounding the fear in Islam eyes...kinda feels like Alex won...even if he didn't...That was the only round with a clear winner...and the closest the fight came to getting finished... BUT Islam striking was on point...he probably did win 3-4 of tge close and competitive rounds...but honestly...rounds 2 or 3 could have gone Alex's way...
I'm an Islam fan (Alex fan too though, hard to not love the guy) and I totally agree with you. This is one of those cases where the most impactful moment of a close fight amounted to nothing due to round by round scoring.
