Schunk has really impressed me. I'm a casual tennis fan, but I can spot talent. The way she hit those balls with precision near the line on a regular basis was impressive. Have to keep her on my radar.

Superb video view. Wonderful compromise view between Court Level and the traditional High View giving the benefits of both. Also the court is filling the screen more meaning we don’t have to strain to see the action or follow the ball. Makes a huge difference to me, thank you! 🎾🍾❤️

In my opinion Swiatek has 90% of winning the title. The only players that have a small chance against her are big hitters that can keep points very short and use power relentlessly Anisimova, Collins, Pegula. .

@@nicholasferraz7580 More like out of gas. She could bare moved. Her forehand broke down because the leg work wasn't moving at all. It's tough to carry all that extra weight for 3 sets against a very fit Halep

@ferzy09 Agree. This was a bad strategy on Halep trying to out hit Schnuck and to make matter worse, the balls landed at Schnuck wheelhouse. Halep should have moved her opponent side to side, as they said, break her legs.

Schunk has lost this match more than Halep has won it, but at least Simona showed a great level of maturity, fighting till the end and not letting herself being carried away by the sometimes impressive game of the german teenager. In the end, Schunk mentally broke after being broke early in the third set, but she seems (yet another) teen to follow closely.

Schunk also looked visibly very fatigued by middle of the third set too. She has the skills but improving her fitness will improve her game all around both physically and mentally.

@ferzy09 I wouln't that she depends on opponents errors, since Halep's game is based in making them commit those errors; Halep's ball is heavy and has quite a bit of lateral effect, being quite hard to return. As a matter of fact, what impressed me most about Schunk was that she was managing herself very well against Halep's weight of ball. But I agree that I'd like Halep to add more variety in her game - more dropshots and slices to break the opponent's rythm -, specially since Simona has more touch than that.
I wish Roland-Garros could stop spoiling the result in the description.

The sponsors/makers , Nike , Adidas etc. bring new lines out for each of the seasons and the ladies have endorsements and are encouraged to wear the new line... 128 players singles , 64 doubles ... You see a lot of overlap ...

Let's hope she will find a better rhythm in the 2nd round and hopefully she will manage to win somehow against whoever will be in the 3rd round, because either Cornet or Ostapenko represent pure nightmares for Halep. If Halep gets to face Swiatek her chances are very low, if we have to relly on the game she showed last night. I think the only chance for Halep to win this slam is an injured Swiatek or a WO (IF she wins the 3rd round in a lucky way).
Only at their best and on their day: Osaka, Ostepenko, Annisimova and Halep (in this order)could come close to Swiatek! Iga had their numbers for sure otherwise! And I’m a Halep fan! 😉…. I don’t see anyone else including Badosa or the rest beat Iga!

Second set was really down.. at least as per highlights.. back hand was weak and predictable

I love Simona but it's hard to root for her. By that I mean, her winning a match is usually dependent on what her opponent doesn't do rather than what she does. She has to wait for errors 80% of the time. Game plan definitely works better on this surface but when she comes against someone who is on their game and able to hold serve and win those 3-5 ball rallies, it's a wrap!

Simona thinks she can revive her career by going after Serena’s coach. Embarrassing. Glad Patrick is gone, he did nothing good honestly for Serena nor Halep and once Halep is out early in the French his ass will be sent packing. He leeches off Serena and Serena’s talent is what got her to the slams she has gotten to and not the other way around. Just look at Patrick being the coach of Coco and yet Coco hasn’t really broken through and the same can be said of Simona.
