You can't stop Hollywood's biggest stars from giving awards to each other, you can only contain them to Zoom.
Yeah, it never happens in any other business. Ever! :P
@@Hirnlego999 Agreed but other businesses don't draw that many viewers or attention....
Did they actually host and do everything via zoom?! Haha
Havent seen any of those movies listed.
@@nobody....168 so you're saying the viewers are part of the problem? Le gasp.
"Since nothing can stop Hollywood's biggest stars from giving awards to each other". I lost it here.😭😭😭
All those narcissists who can't help but broadcast their narcissism to the rest of the world, lovely! That's where I lost it too 🤣
If you count a legendary Korean actress and Chinese filmmaker to be part of Hollywood, then yeah. The fact is that it's not. People are so foolish to think that it's always the biggest star when Greta Garbo, Sylvester Stallone and The Rock can't even win an Oscar.
@@melvinezekiel6304 Because they're also elitist dicks. Haven't you been paying attention? Only certain types of movies get nominated - Oscar bait.
If a circle jerk happens and there aren't a hundred cameras there to record it, did it happen?
@@antiochus87 i actually have been paying attention, and while it does seem like oscar bait movies tend to get nominated, some really exciting, bold independent movies got nominated this year that i wouldn't call oscar bait. and if it wasn't these movies, then what were the best films of the year? there's a reason why this is the oscars and not the audience choice awards or whatever. while audiences tend to like action flicks, they tend not to have any substance, character depth, clever writing, etc. viewership and box office numbers don't equate to good filmmaking.
Oscars viewership through the years 2014: 43.7 million 2015: 37.3 million 2016: 34.4 million 2017: 32.9 million 2018: 26.5 million 2019: 29.6 million 2020: 23.6 million 2021: 9.8 million
2022: 2,457 people exactly.
Like all the other things in tv.
9.8 million just shows that no one cared about movies this year at all. And who can blame them.. absolutely nothing of substance with these films.
@@F1989C Nomadland has a lot of substance. Did you watched? It's incredible.
@@F1989C I think people still watched a lot of movies and tv shows in 2020, but.. they don't care about the fancy award shows where rich people present other rich people with Golden Statues.
The best part of the Oscars is finding out what movies came out last month
One more year where you just find out about the existence of half of this movies
More like all of them
Exactly what I said in my own comment basically! 😆 The only one I really know anything about is Promising Young Woman.
I like these small independent films, but the only way for me to know about them is by waiting for the oscars
I have literally never heard of any of these movies before today.
cos they aren't comic book/CGI action movies.
This will end up with more views than the actual oscars
This is definitely more entertaining than The Oscar, so...
@Robert Monroe Do people really watch the Oscars for the hosts? I don't care about all the talk in between the awards. I just want to see what wins.
@Isai Gonzalez so will yours probably

Anthony Hopkins is just way too good to be competing in these categories with other actors, it's just not fair. Actors like that need their own category.
@Robert Monroe th th th or something
And the Anthony Hopkins Award goes to... Carrot Top!
He definitely should win, but I feel like sentiment will make people vote for Chadwick Boseman.
Oh, please.... Get off that most mainstream of all movie lovers talking points horse.
He was the best actor this year but not by much honestly. Stiff competetion

General audiences; only watches franchise films in cinemas, everything else on Netflix & Amazon The Oscars: all of our films are streaming originals Audiences: we didn’t watch any of these Me: WHAT DO YOU WANT?!?
Yeah, not all people are cinephiles, but at least we should be happy for all indie gems that for years has been under the radar to be published in the year when all the big studios are afraid enough to lose billions for releasing their blockbusters. How can we not feel delighted for this?!
@Gina I can't imagine any scenario where you care about quality cinema and also think the nominated movies this year are "virtuesignaling propaganda." You have definitely not seen the nominated movies or care about filmmaking if you're saying this.
I want something along the lines of Jaws or Jurassic Park. You can keep your dramas.
@Gina only Sorkin picture was that, and that’s his entire shtick
Audience want good movies. None of these were good movies.
Just the DESCRIPTION of the father in this video made me tear up I can’t imagine how much actually watching it will wreck me
Don't watch it if you're already feeling down, I can't think about the end without crying.
It’s okay. If you’re a stoic, it won’t be so bad. In fact, i have a grandmother who is like this, and it almost made me sympathise with the people who actually told the old man to just... move on, you know? Like, at some point, that’s fair. No matter how lonely or confused or powerless you feel. Anyway... you should watch the trailer it’s so good. And then see the movie
“Celebrating movies in the year where we couldn’t watch movies” Well put!;)
That's not what was said and it would not have been well put. Of course we could watch movies.
Yeah well it’s interesting bc half of these are streaming services movies!

Not really. Minari's actually a really sweet, funny and hopeful film about family. Nomadland's about finding contentment in what you have, Trial's easily the most awards bait and inspiring out of the nominees and Sound of Metal... sure, it's about someone going deaf, but it's more about finding peace in your situation and accepting change.
