this recipe has been on a number of youtube channels.......... it has several issues.... 1) you have to be careful not to cut your cabbage too thick or too thin...... many people complained because the cabbage was under-done while the meat was over-cooked.....2) I know Scandinavians and Germans spice their meat with nutmeg, but for the love of all things holy, American cooks.....do not put 5g of nutmeg in your ground beef....... it is overwhelming! maybe a pinch, at most.
A pinch will do it. I make my own Italian sausage and my "secret" ingredient is a pinch or two of nutmeg.
@monicahamm3353...If you give someone a pinch over the Holidays, is that called a "Goose"? 🤣
Wow. Country variations absolutely fascinated me. Thanks for sharing.
I'm duel citizenship! German born, raised mostly here, hell no we don't use that much nutmeg. Plus, we make cabbage roles, no nutmeg either 😂
Substitute smoked paprika 🤤
Using a slab of cabbage replaces buns and bread, so this whole recipe - including the salad - is great for low-carbers and diabetics. Thank you for sharing!
And horrible if you already have hyperthyroidism too much cabbage will cause an overactive thyroid gland.
Z We have a salad already or you want a little broccoli on the side. Maybe just a little green. I don't mind doing it at all. We can do half of it now and half of it. I mean look how much get in there get in there get in there Nn B 😊@@SwansonDoggz
@@annmason8137 you're mentally challenged I see.
What is up with the music wow it don’t mix
And for Kidney disease... It can heal kidney disease.
One suggestion. Don’t cut the stems off the zucchini or carrots. They make great hand holders when grating them. Keeps your fingers out of the way. 😁
🤣
Absolutely!!
😂😂 Thanku!😊

I don't eat any red meats but I will definitely try your recipe with ground veal, turkey or chicken. It looks absolutely delicious!👍🏾👌🏾🥰 Thanku for Sharing!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
My mom and I both enjoyed your recipe. We are from the US, but my great grandmother (mom's grandmother) was German. She has always talked about what a good cook she was and says German cooking is especially good food! Love the music you chose too.
loved my gramas x2 cooking...not german but hiez 57 canadian. she ran a lodge, mainly hunters and fisherman. she was a spectacular baker and piano teacher. I loved heading there after school for my piano lessons. she fed me alot before said lessons.!!!
It’s my favorite. Unfortunately it’s fallen out of favor and it’s really hard to find a restaurant. I do make it’s myself sometimes, but it’s a lot of work. It’s so dang good though.
My Mom’s side of the family was Moravian. We grew up eating German food as the usual. Potato pancakes (from stewed potatoes), cabbage stewed with ham hocks, home made sauerkraut, ginger cookies. I miss that tradition.
List of ingredients?
My Mom's "stuffed cabbage" always had rice.
Good stuff! I like that u made it your way & u know when u make a video, u attract all the Negative Nancy's!🤔 U gave us a base to the recipe & we will tweak it to fit our palate! Thx!👍😀 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Facts
Definitely.....I don't have yogurt so I'm subbing with cream cheese.
THIS IS NO TRICK, THIS IS A FULL FRICKEN MEAL!! I've just came onto cabbage as a stapple, and I LOVE Hamburger, so I'm deffinently going try this out.. Thank You for the video!!
This is definitely a recipe for a food lover. After you try this, do the medium cabbage steak with a pork steak on top... not a pork chop, (not enough fat.) seasoned however you like. If you want put some thin potato wedges, same width as your cabbage steak, underneath the pork steak. Just make certain no cabbage or potatoes are exposed from under the meat. They will burn if unprotected. Cook on 450° in the PREHEATED toaster oven, place it on a foil lined tray to bake for 12 - 15 minutes. You will impress anyone with the caramelized perfection that you serve. If you need the cabbage or potatoes softer, microwave together in one minute increments until desired tenderness, while allowing the pork steak to rest for five minutes. ❤ I like a bit of bite to mine. Do NOT flip the meat it cooks on both sides in the toaster oven.
Newfangled approach on my mommom’s Hungarian stuffed cabbage 🥬 recipe five stars from me❤❤❤
I'm also a fan of ground beef & cabbage. My great-grandma used to make cabbage stew when I was little. Ground beef, cabbage, onion , bell pepper, garlic, tomato sauce or paste. That's what I remember. Then I FOUND IT! On another cooking channel, "Home Cook Hero" , Smothered cabbage, cabbage stew recipe. It's easy, simple, not many ingredients, and I'm making it tonight! 😋👍
The cabbage didn’t get done! The hamburger didn’t smother the cabbage at all. We couldn' t chew the cabbage, but the hamburger was EXCELLENT. We will use only the burger part.
@@kenjudithglover That’s what I was thinking while watching. Ain’t no way that slice of cabbage cooked in 35 minutes! Maybe the cabbage should be put into the oven while you prepare the rest of the recipe, to pre cook it.
this recipe looks so good I have to try it. Because I like well done, I think I will cook a while until browned, add the yogurt topping and bake again. Tysm❣️
I'm really intrigued by this recipe, I've not seen this particular combinations of foods & spices together. That means I going to have to try this. I'm lucky that my husband is game for most anything I cook. Thank you.
That looks so delicious how do I get my recipe
Nancy, I make this with meatloaf all the time. I just make meatloaf like you'd expect, but then I form it into thick patties and bake it over the cabbage. It's wonderful, the cabbage blends so well, and you pair it with mashed or roasted potatoes... it's a favorite in my house. Try it.
It looks delicious and it's nutritious. I'm going to try it.Thank you 🎉
The recipe looks great and the video was so relaxing!
Actually looks pretty good, will tweak it to my liking. Thank you for sharing!
Exactly.
I agree. Tweak it to your liking. Me too.
Those look AMAZING and I definitely want to try both recipes - THANK YOU!
Looks absolutely delicious and nutritious too!❤
Aprovada a receita, deliciosa. Deixei no forno por 45 minutos. Todos os sabores se combinam, tudo no ponto, nada mal passado. ❤
I am enjoying this video from Orange County, New York. Wonderful presentation and I’ve saved it so I can try it myself. Thank you for sharing this!!
🎉
Orange County, California here 👋🏼
Wow, this looks luscious (both the main dish and the salad). I can't wait to try these recipes. Thank you!
I think the yogurt sauce should be put on after the hamburger cooks til done. I don't like that when she cut into it, it was still pink.
that's what I thought too, seems a little gross to cook it
That’s meat is super undercooked
That's what I said 😊
Meat was perfectly cooked
Cooking any beef makes it tough and dry. These were cooked medium, which is enough. Well done burgers are gross.
The food looks delicious and unique the music is sublime, sounds a bit like Chopin or Brahms.
Keep the root end on the onion to slice it. This Keeps it from falling apart as you cut it. Put root end in the garden and grow another
Saw that on a youtube video with spring onions a few weeks ago.....cut the end off with the roots, put in the veg potting mix and water well.....started growing within days ! Now I'll have an endless supply lol
Absolutely. I also replant ends of celery. They come right back
He learned this trick in a restaurant! He's never eaten meat so delicious! He makes this recipe twice per week! He no longer shops at stores! Few people cook food this way! Lecker schnell ! Lecker schnell !!!

The older I get he more I appreciate cabbage . I am that old

I'm excited about finding this recipe. I will be trying it this weekend and I will send you a picture in the comments
How was it?
Toast a couple of large hamburger buns.. make it a cabbage burger with a side of carrots and zucchini slaw.. and of course an ICE COLD beer to wash it down.❤❤❤
The burgers could stand a higher temp to brown them. And, there is a lot of onion! Some can’t handle that much. But, with a few adjustments, sounds like it’s worth a try!
I adapt recipes to my family’s preferences. Easy enough to do with this one too.
Exactly! Every cook adjusts to personal preference.
Why would you want to over cook the hamburger? Strange comment
Yes looks great, but the onion would kill my stomach for 24 hours. With that said, it's still a great recipe.
Слюнки потекли❤❤❤!! Это то, что надо!!
If i were going to try this recipe i'd definitely need to tweak a couple of things specifically the beef and the cabbage. Semi-raw meat (im a well done type a guy) just wouldn't cut it with me nor would the undercooked cabbage, so i would probably simmer the beef patty and cabbage in a covered skillet for a couple of minutes on the stovetop prior to placing it in the oven, and then continue on with the preparation. (For the record im not one of those armchair chefs trying to re-write someone elses recipe, but just offering a tip for those who may not be fond of rare meat and who prefer a softer cabbage)
Good idea.
I'm with ya on the kinda raw looking meat. I mean, I get moments when a medium rare sounds good as long as it's cooked to temp but for the most part nah, I want my meat cooked.
@@rabbitgutz8276 I don't think I've ever seen a commercial or tv cooking show where steak was being prepared that it didn't practically have blood oozing from it. These chefs will talk about making sure you cook your food to the proper temperatures to kill bacteria until a steak comes along. 😄
@@jeffreyb6165 thanks for explaining that to me, I must've missed that when I was in culinary school... With my phone, the meat in the video looks very raw in the middle. Could be my phone but I'm well aware of how to cook steak
That'll be me, thanks I'll try that, and without the nutmeg
An elegant vid done with style and a wonderful music accompaniment.
Looks great. We love cabbage. I also really like the piano music 😊
As I cook for one, this looks like it would easily adapt for my air fryer! Thank you
And you could still make 4, to keep for next week's lunches or dinners
@@lisaalexander1824I wonder how well it would hold up freezing them assembled? Thoughts?
@@CJ21CJ Well the sauce might get everywhere and the cabbage would likely get soggy.
@@CJ21CJI don't think the cabbage would be good after freezing.
I put minced garlic and olive oil on mine. Its delicious, without anything else added.
I will definitely try this!! ✨️ My dad's German & I believe he would enjoy this exactly how this is done.
This recipe looks very delicious and easy to prepare! Id love to have this for my dinner tomorrow 😋 yummy And i love your choice of 🎵🎶🎵 its so calming and beautiful Thank you 😍

wow! I lost a ton of weight watching this video and falling asleep. Best recipe ever!!
I’m so glad I saw her not chop off the ends of the scallion. This is going to make cooking with them so much more easier for me.
Use a large jar ring to make perfect burgers. 1 minutes to form.
There is perfection in imperfection. I always prefer to use my own 2 hands when possible.
I didn’t see any cooking instructions. Did I just miss them? I wish these recipes were on a website somewhere with complete instructions, linked from here. It’s impossible to find a specific recipe in the Facebook group, particularly when the dish isn’t named.
I made the salad - OMG absolutely divine. Thanks so much!

I love the idea of the cabbage as the base..its the BEST food for women over 40 to eat..using eggplant rounds would be delish too..got any good BRUSSEL SPROUTS recipes that might even get eaten ???
Hi how come cabbage is good for women over 40? Do you have any ideas of what to do with cabbage besides cabbage rolls?
Slice brussel sprouts in two to three pieces depending on the size, coat in a mixture of olive oil, salt, black pepper, Parmesan cheese, and Cajun seasoning (I prefer Louisiana or Badia). Air fry or bake until tender, usually about 15-25 mins in the air fryer at around 300-350 / preheated oven 300-350 normally takes 10-20 mins / toaster oven is normally about the same as the air fryer. Times will vary depending on your cooking method and how much you make you'll have to experiment to get it just right.
I like my Brussels sprouts dipped in batter and deep fried! (Tempura batter🙂).
@@megchow8245 read this tried it in the air fryer then deep fried like it both ways, delicious...
@@rhinox0110...I roast minev(Brussels) with a little Olive oil, Parmesan, Salt and Pepper and Balsamic Glaze.
Thank you for the good idea of the cabbage,, I'm going to make this ,,❤ i love cabbage and onions together
This looks to taste very good and I'm going to try it too. Thank you.
That looks amazing so yummy❤
This is different. I might try this. I’m big on my meat being brown & well done, so I would just let mine cook a little longer
Place under brolier to brown more.
I have not yet tried it and I'm hooked! Looks yummy!
Looks great!
Write in Englidh, please! I do not know what you are trying to say!!
Что то ввиде голубцов. Выглядит очень аппетитно, думаю стоит попробовать. Спасибо!❤
I am definitely going to try this recipe, it looks delicious! Thank-you❤
You do make it look good! ❤❤
Might be best to par boil the cabbage or give it a blast in the air fryer ☺
Pretty sure parboiling the cabbage would make it fall apart.
@@jeffellis6544of course! The cabbage cooks very well in the oven!
I really wish these youtube videos that have recipes to share would JUST SAY WHAT THEY ARE MAKING INSTEAD OF TRYING TO LURE US WITH STUPID SAYINGS LIKE "few people know this trick!" - it makes you sound suspicious, when all you're doing is showing us ABSOLUTELY delicious and healthy looking food. off my soapbox, thank you.
I couldn’t agree with you more!
Still trying to figure out what the “trick” was. I guess tricked into watching. 🤷♀️

That looks really good. Beautiful cat
Being the world's fussiest eater I have this practice where I never eat anything with more than 5 ingredients. I believe you have far exceeded that. 🤣 In addition I have no cooking skills. What should I do ?
I’m assuming you’re American? I use basic ingredients for everything. But everyone loves my food. Keep it simple. Garlic, salt, pepper for seasoning. If you want to make it ‘fancy’ add some parsley and/or pepper flakes. Olive oil if you need to add some moisture to the food.
Somehow the pace of the video is annoying me
There's an option so speed up videos in settings.
How?@@princesspeach4226
I've been hollering her through the whole thing it's wearing me out too😅
Your age maybe?
For example - they didn't have to show seasoning every round of cabbage, grating all of the zucchini, etc, etc. Some edits would have made this shorter and better.
I am going to try this and it looks very good thanks for putting it on youtube 😊
Looks really good n healthy meal! Thanks,,,,

I really have to make this, this week. I have veey similar tastes as yours going by this recipe.
MUITA COISA BOA PRA FAZER A GENT IR PRA COZINHA
The biggest thing I'd be concerned with is that there would be a LOT of grease coming from the beef patties which would soak right in to the cabbage! I think it would be better to cook the cabbage and meat separately and the added bonus would be that you could cook them both till they were actually cooked. The meat is too pink and most people are saying that the cabbage doesn't cook through properly 😕
I’ll just say, if you buy quality meat from a trusted source, pink is fine depending on your taste. I love my grilled burgers medium rare, no more, and remember steak tartare, very popular in Europe and finer restaurants here, is just fresh “ground beef”. And I would note the meat rare as it is would not render too much fat on the cabbage. Agreed it would not seem to me the cabbage is cooked much, but cole slaw is raw cabbage and the Japanese routinely eat raw cabbage in salads, as do other cultures. So it wouldn’t bother me. Doneness of quality meat and most veggies is really personal taste.
@@Raleigh1boyit’s hamburger. You aren’t supposed to undercook it.
Maybe place on a rack so the grease will drain off.?
I posted above that I wonder if pre-cooking the cabbage a little bit might avoid the problem. Maybe 20 minutes on the cabbage, and then put the meat patties on top. Good morning when I get a chance to try it, this is what I will do. Although I don’t mind raw cabbage as I add it to my salads all the time so partially cooked one is not unappetizing to me.
Healthy fat is good for you If you use good-quality beef it contains more Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) unlike corn fed cattle allotment beef which is usually the cheapest option at the grocery store.
I think the music is relaxing....hey from Rhode Island
