  • Elphelt doesn't have a split personality so much as she's a person of extremes. When she's happy she's the happiest person you've ever met, when she's sad you've never seen someone so miserable. A lot of the story stuff you read was from the previous game Xrd, where Elphelt was mind controlled. In Strive, she's trying to figure out her place in the world after everything that happened to her. The Amazing Grace bit is actually a really great use of musical theming, because this is a time for Elphelt to reflect on past events and her role in them, even if unwillingly participating, and how she was looking for and eventually found her salvation from her past. She confidently moves forward, still trying to figure out where life is taking her.

  • There is honestly nothing better in this song, IMO, than when the singer growls out "I'M HAVING A GREAT TIME"

  • LOL that was one of my favorite facts I learned about this song! It's not Naoki Hashimoto ft. Molly Daisy Scarpine, ALL the vocals are Molly! Sick that you know her!

  • Yeah, Molly did both the vocal tracks, which is just insane. She did an amazing job!

  • Extras came out of nowhere and blindsided me even as someone that's kept up with the game and it fits so WELL for a girl that's been been manipulated every which way by a mother she still wants approval from, as well as just attention and love and approval in general. In previous games, she'd literally try to marry her opponent in a fight, while in this game she's taken to being the head of her own metal band and just wants people to sign up for the fanclub ("what? This is just a fanclub sign up sheet, not a marriage certificate! How silly. Sign here"). She's great. I love her.

  • “Are you brave enough to be a fool?” is one of the hardest questions a metal song has ever asked me 😂

  • I just want to add that as someone who played Xrd (in which Elphelt was first released) this song is PERFECT for her! She’s such a cheerful, outgoing, and positive girl who struggles with having been created for destructive purposes. Since she’s artificial and not a natural-born human, her personality is full of oddities.

  • the song was released around Christmass and the song does have that "All I want for Christmass" feel

  • For those who dont know, the "rub-a-dub" is supposed to be a weird pun on lub-dub. The idea was to have an english version of the japanese onomatopeia for heartbeats (doki doki)

  • This song is honestly one of the best ones to use in order to sell someone on the GGST soundtrack. "Yeah, we got a babymetal song with references to All I Want for Christmas is You and Amazing Grace in it."

  • The analysis was amazing, but i think the best part was Marco being overly hyped about his friend singing in this piece. He just seems so happy to hear her sing like that.

  • now i really wonna see him react to A.B.A's new theme

    @xeto3247@xeto3247
  • That guitar riff you mentioned near the beginning sounding really fun, which reappears throughout the song including at the very end is actually a repurposed motif from her theme in Xrd called Marionette, which is a much darker more serious sounding theme. Hearing it used so triumphantly at the end of Extras, having seen this characters whole journey to where she is now, fills me with so much joy. The Valentines storyline is one of my favorites in the series. Also the line "I'm scared of the laughter but, I love to laugh myself" is sung to the tune of All I Want For Christmas is You by Mariah Carey, which is likely a reference to how Elphelts birthday is Christmas Day. Leading up to her reveal I was hoping 2 things for her theme. Firstly, that it followed in Ramlethals themes footsteps by being a theme with both masculine and feminine vocals, and secondly that there was some sort of Christmas festiveness in it, and I kinda got both of those wishes granted in ways I didn't expect. I listened to this theme so much when it dropped that I'm almost sick of it at this point lol but it's still one of my favorites. Idk if you listen to requests just from the comments section but another Guilty Gear character named A.B.A just released and her theme just goes absolutely bananas I think you'd absolutely love it.

  • Can't wait for Armor-Clad Faith (Potemkin's theme)

  • Whenever you go over a song I'm familiar with or even already love like with Extras, you just point out all these bits I didn't notice. Having additional perspective is always great, especially when they have lots of passion shining on things you don't normally pick up on

  • amazing grace really fits given it's sung at weddings, and elephelt's backstory is that she ran away from her groom at the altar
