  • Wow. crouin played amazing but elias was definitely off. My guess: pressure of being #1 would take a while to settle in. Lets hope he forgets his ranking and just plays his game vs coll

    • He's also being pestered by a speedy Gonzales with great cardio on the way up. Elias for world level could have better raw speed and cardio. But I'm definitely not criticizing the world #1. He's very talented.

    • @@dslechip i think his court coverage is deceptively fast. Almost casual. Reminds me of Jansher - sort of effortless but he is everywhere. On cardio, not too sure. Have we seen him lose the 5th due to gassing out?

    • @@muneebi8273 if seen him go deep in tournaments and struggling in semis and finals. More his long term tournament cardio than just one match. I'm looking hard to pick a weakness. He doesn't have many. He is very smooth that adds to his deceptive speed

    • In all fairness there are certain times when it's hard to judge the position of the player and ball from behind (easier from the side or above).

    • It looked like the ball may be behind crouin. Like he was fishing for a stroke. On the world level that's a weak call but I do understand it due to her position. The ref takes into account the players history and speed in making these decisions

  • @8:01 the refs need to begin punishing players for this. Crouin had multiple chances to make a shot safely and was trying to force a stroke by backing the play up. In this case, crouin should have been given a "no let" and told to play the ball. The forced strokes ruin the flow of a game when players are looking for them.

    @B1J0D@B1J0D Жыл бұрын
    • I disagree. He's quite clearly in his swing and its super loose. Yes let seems fair.

      @chainsawhaircut4524@chainsawhaircut4524 Жыл бұрын
    • @@chainsawhaircut4524 good squash movement is stepping into the ball and playing it. He's intentionally holding backwards and hoping for a stroke. Crouin could have stepped into that shot at least 2 or three times prior to getting a let ball

      @B1J0D@B1J0D Жыл бұрын
    • @@B1J0D It's only good squash movement to step into the ball when you have space to do so, he was backing up first to create that space.

      @watching99134@watching99134 Жыл бұрын
    • @@watching99134 your comment literally contradicts itself. If he's stepping forward the space behind isn't needed?

      @B1J0D@B1J0D Жыл бұрын
    • You are not correct. There is NOTHING in the rules that says you MUST step into the ball and play it if you have the chance. On the contrary, the rules explicitly guarantee your right to play the ball whenever YOU choose, as long as it has not bounced twice. That means you can step back and play it as late as you want, and if your opponent is in the way, it's either a let or a stroke depending on the circumstances. Rules 101.

    • In this highlights video I saw him call two reviews; on the first, he was absolutely correct and it got overturned, and on the second he had a legitimate reason to think his ball did not bounce twice. Which of these were no-issue for you?
