  • 3:12 OH MY GOSH, HOW DID I NEVER NOTICE THIS the pink phantom snuffs out the candles flames as it passes, and then when Murdoc passes, the flames rekindle! I seriously think the pink phantom is a physical manifestation of Murdoc's successes, especially with the Plastic Beach.

    • The candle is a hand of glory - old myth - left hand of a hanged man - lit it either unlocks doors or paralyzes people. Not sure - what that means but - its definitely an added layer of meaning. Also feels like something Murdoc would have laying around.

    • @@lissaquon607 In the Lost Chord, the Phantom seemingly sends everyone back to Plastic Beach. Maybe he used the hand to unlock a 'door' that led there? Thematically either aspect kind of fits. This album carries a lot of the sentiment of being trapped in the past, which is a sort of paralysis, and escaping that paralysis to move on into the future, which is sort of like opening a door.

    • @autin jones He's not completely blind, but when his eyes are black it means he can barley see. When they're white, which they have been for the last little while, it means he can see...ok but not perfect. We see him reading more than once, and Murdoc let him drive the motorcycle in Aries. He also doesn't seem like the type to purposely try and freak people out, he's generally very sweet

  • This song came out at the perfect time to make me an emotional wreck every time I listened to it. Exactly when it came out I was going through the worst break-up of my life and feeling everything the song is about.     • Experience in working with your voice and learning new techniques does that. Also, there's a certain quality added to someone's voice as they age that's sort of indescribable and different for each person. For some, especially when they aren't taking care of their voice, it makes them sound worse. For others, like Sir Elton John, when you properly take care of your voice, it can add something that makes it better over the years.

    • @@slacknhash Nah, Jesus probably knows by now that Murdoc learned his lesson after seeing him breakdown. He's the type of dude that waits for people to go through the hellish relationship with his arch nemesis Satan (although Gorillaz would be the type of band to feature Satan and Jesus on the same song) just for them to learn their lesson because he's more patient than a medic's responsibility (may or may not be a good pun but I liked it). Not sure how he would feel about Murdoc's man boobs though.
