2JZ Preparation + Saving a Toyota Crown
Benny shits all over the Mild Hybrid system in front of the mild hybrid experts as they prep one Toyota Crown for a 2JZ and prepare to resurrect the broken Crown for Matt & Jarrod to make their long journey home again.

Benny's Custom Works brings you everything automotive!
Weekly Episodes right here on KZhead, as well as the shop with new & used performance parts for most Japanese makes and models.
Benny makes this stuff look like a walk in the park. Please consider the risk factors and talk to a qualified mechanic, as well as a psychologist, if you’re thinking of attempting anything you’ve seen on the show.
Take into consideration your safety, the safety of others, as well as your vehicle’s best interests- warranty, etc.
Unless you’re trained & qualified to do so, we don’t recommend modifying your vehicle in any way. Stickers don’t add HP unless installed correctly.
Needs more Jarad Cole
He has such a good voice for KZhead too, but GBS12's are Matt's thing.
Agreed
I'm loving this dynamic of Matt and Benny!
Loving the banter between you guys always nice to have the mates over! That thing you were asking about is the Fully Useless Xenon Valve or "FUX" Valve for short. I find it strange that your car had one, from my knowledge traditionally only the turbo JDM cars had them, many of the slower more economical NA cars had no "FUX" applied to them at all. Maybe with the modern styling and the Hybrid system Toyota started giving "FUX" to up the performance (or a few for that matter) and that would be the reason why you have two FUX Valves. It is nice know that Toyota gives more than one FUX about their cars and I'm sure they have built better ones since then and renamed the old FUX Valve to, but I'll always say At least they give two FUX about their builds....lol
You lot are the best, thanks for making my month
Some high level auto archeology here
Benny. I am a local Marine surveyor in Port Kenbla. You mentioned the port in this video. If you ever need any survey needs to cover yourself get in touch. Russell
This was great fun to watch! It's clear you all were having a good time with each other.
torque converter bolt being different is normal its so it can be used as a start/finish point for tightening sequence
Not the 6 bolts and tighten 10
Benny & Matt forever! Great energy this episode!
Excellent video and banter
That was an entertaining episode. I think I finally understand what frenemies are. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the Black one and how well it ends up going.
Love the banter
I'm glad we live in this time, in this country, with these cars. It doesn't matter who the customer is between ICI and BCW, both sides are just glad to be in the others' presence and come together over a mutual love for japanese nuggets. There's no hint that these guys are over a thousand km apart regularly, they are hanging out like besties and taking every opportunity they can get to not be boring. PS. ICI folk love it when you send memes while ordering your car through them.
This was hilarious Benny! Well done
just sat down to eat dinner and this video was 3 minutes old! nice timing!
I'd guess the logic was "it's Japan, who is going to steal a car? No need for a transponder."
It's good with the 2 of ya. Mick Thurston London
You two work well together, especially the shit talking banter 🤣
Had an 89 crown Royale saloon. Vip spec. Factory 1uz and air suspension
CERTIFIED JARAD COLE ENJOYER ❤
its nice to see a plan come together i thought i heard clown music there for a minute and i thought my barra turbo e90 was complicated build cheers from broken hill
Good crossover episode
7M-GTEs are perfectly fine, as long as you fully rebuild them with decent headstuds, and don't try to put more than 1.5 bar of boost through them. Which, with good tuning means ~400 wheel horsepower so yeah, they're fine.
They are but people shit on them just because they are not like the tractor engines that they are used to.
Jarad the recluse on film. :D Funny stuff.
Interested to see what you do with the suspension setup and whether I’ll be able to do the same to my gbs12. Would be great to have it on coilovers.
Mx83 cressida
That spiffy little device is a radiator fan controller
I thought that too but there was also one on the radiator wired to the fans
There's one per fan. My Aristo has 2. Originally thought they were ballasts for the HIDs, but a mate has a Soarer in his shop and the owner said he pulled the fan setup from an Aristo and pointed out they're for the fans. Bit of a hardcore setup just for a fan controller if you ask me!
Jeez, you guys honnestly look like a married couple😂😂😂😂
I hear ya. I feel mentally drained when I work on any Toyota's
Sad and excited it's not a barra!
I did a us jz swap in a mk3 supra and I had to bend my gas pedal to get good response lol
Early 1Gs sound incredible. The 1G-GTE is a very nice engine in a light car like an early Celica too. Beautiful sounding, free revving engine. Just not this version of the 1G, and not in a big heavy Crown
i have that same crown model..
Love this episode. Full disrespected nose spec editing 🤣
Had brekkie with @TheSkidFactory and dinner with @BennysCustomWorks #ChefsKiss
Wednesday's are Sick!!!!!👍
where is the electric drive motor? I didnt see it unless thats combined with the alternator or maybe the starter. also theres a battery I didnt see either.
It's a flux capacitor for time travel 😊
Bit surprised a 1uz or something isn't going on, would be nice keeping it N/A but then again you'd be limited
THE DRAIN TRAY IS BEING MISSED!🤣
Being that the 2j is vvti , jzx81 mounts wont work , well one side would , jzx90 mounts are the same as jzx81 if you flip them left to right side too , and ive herd of guys using either is300 or maby gs300 mount on the side that has the different mounting location on the block of the vvtis to the non ( non vvti have 2 provisions/set of holes either side you can put a mount , vvti one side is the same but the other only has the one provision for a mount)
Can any other starter motor work on a 2jz?
Benny standing back slinging zingers all day. Brilliant.
i admire the relentless bullying. reminds me of working with my mates on our cars 😂
EV electrical systems tend to go into nuclear meltdown at about half the normal operating temperature of an internal combustion engine cooling system. So they definitely need seperate systems especially for the batteries and for the inverters. The motors can be air cooled but they last longer with liquid cooling.
I have the same crown. How hard is it to decommission the hybrid and just make it normal 12v Thanks
No idea sorry
JZS171 Crowns have transponder keys
7M swap guy should do one wearing power gloves.
What's the bet they'll need some of the wiring to be donated too.... 😂
Question does the battery fit in a Fielder?
Different
@@mattj2171 suspected that'd be so with that early Prius-sized lump in the back.
Where have I seen that dude Matt before?
The car that needs two technicians one automotive and one electrician
100 series Land Cruiser headlights?
CERTIFIED TEDMAN JONES ENJOYER ❤
Здравствуйте, скажите где предохранитель прикуривателя стоити на сколько он ампер?
Teds famous!
Teddy! Was like, fuck I recognise that voice. Hope you're going good man.
I know I'm 11 hours late to comment ! But get a Fugging multimeter and check the fugn power !!
They have different cooling systems because the hybrid system has to be deionized incase of electrocution
hello
last time i came this early i knocked my miso up
What's the point of the bcw transition mid convo in every video

Is that a 2JZ GE it came with.? It certainly looks like one. Why not just rebuild that?
1G-FE. 2.0L and useless
This guy’s need to stick together 😂
Go the Japanese taxi.
Electric safety, in his shorts, lol XD
I wish this was turned into a drift car not drag
************************** Perfect opportunity to create something different Benny. You have a HYBRID expert at your disposal. What about a car that does 9 seconds and 9lt/100km. Or even 10 seconds and 10lt/100km on pump fuel.!!!??? The perfect car !!???????? Who's done that.?? Next time perhaps. 😲😲😊👍**************************
🧈
I would have enjoyed the video more if I didn’t feel like the car was being bashed the entire time.
No transponder in Japan is because people don't steal cars...
at least not hybrid taxis
Frustrating I'm sure but go the bigger blower Scotty. Please, the internet is already flooded with to much turbo shit... Super charger all the way or you'll loose the name Super mang
